xclone1098,

Doesnt anyone who attacks a ST or any other NPC not get a TEF?

Also, please, I am begging YOU or ANYONE to answer my questions! Answer them! PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!
Do you want more scanning? If so, why? Do you just want lots & lots of easytargets? Do you realize that if you force PvP on most, they will resign theiraction or quit the game? How will having less people in a certain faction help PvP???? Do you believe that by scanning me, forcing me to PvP, that I will suddently "see the light" & find I love PvP??

Actually the truth is PvP has NOT worked well in most MMORPGs, mainly (but not only) because of griefers. So, be careful what you beg for, you might get it & find it is NOT what you thought it would be.

More scanning would be bad for PvE AND PvP!

So yeah, let's be real here - you just don't like the idea of losing a perk which you've had since launch.

No, I don't like the idea of a penalty that affects ONE portion of the community, simple as that. If Overt Rebels, Imperials and Neutrals got an equal penalty, I'd be fine with it.

I've always been of the opinion that EVERYBODY should get severe penaltiesif they're caughtcarrying contraband, and that EVERYBODY should be scanned regardless of Factional affiliation.

So assuming the game were like that, now what's your agument? Because that's what I've been pushing for all along - a crackdown on all contraband, with real teeth and real consequences for everyone. No free passes whatsoever, and only bonuses for evading scans if you're a Smuggler. I've never seen this as an Imperial versus Rebel issue, it's always been Smugglers versus non-Smugglers, because Smugglers are supposed to run the underworld and carry contraband, not Imperials. That's what they should be investing skillpoints on attaining, really, and it should be the heart of the profession.

Assuming the game were like that ( a big assumption), I'd be happy with it as long as the penalty doesn't involve bringing me into a PvP situation.

But you also make 'contraband' sound like it is completely out of the realm of being needed. As a BE, sampling takes a -240 mind hit. Three samples, all of which may be unsuccessful, and I'm sitting down. So the added risk to choosing some professions is being punished, due to the poorly thought out requirements of the profession?

Same for weapons. It's great I can use a laser carbine and after ten unsliced specials my mind's gone. The reward for having better certs and using better weapons is that they suck as much out of you as what you're shooting. So, naturally you use a sliced weapon.

It would also be nice to know what's spiced and sliced, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.

ok so wou want a consequence for being a rebel, I would be fine with it if it does not bring me into a sudden PVP situation as the person said before me. I am not going to see the light and enjoy pvp. Let me tell you why: 1. I don't like hunting another person 2. there is still a fair amount of griefing tactics one can employ. 3. I do not have the character template to effectively take part in PVP, if I do I would get smoked..I am a Master CH Master Pistoleer with some medic tossed in for good measure. This is great for PVE but for PVP nope.

Now in order for me to continue to use my current piece of chest composite armor it has to be sliced. I can NOT use non sliced chest composite armor. Trust me I have tried. I have gone to the best armormsmith in my server. The bottomline is if I want this type of protection then I need it to be sliced. FYI I play a Bothan. And you know what I dont want to be running around Dathomir without the maximimum protection I can have. You know why...them nightsisters sure do hit hard and so do those escaped slaves.

I have pets that need to be healed in game for that I need my mind. I heal myself during the fight and I do my best to heal others in game. For that I need my mind and should it get low. I pop my muon.

I use a sliced gun because I want optimal damage.

Now why do I want to be a rebel...well to side with Han, Leia, Luke, etc. To feel like you are on their side. There are tons of people playing this game for that reason alone. To be on the side of good. People grew up with these films and have fantasized about them. So you have this cultural appeal to this film. Now this appeal crosses the boundaries for th PVE folks and the PVP folks. Are you telling me that in order to take part in the saga and be a rebel you HAVE to PVP. That is just not right. You have to make takin part in this war available to both. If not you are cutting out part of the appeal to a segment of the game population. I am a rebel because I want to shoot stromtroopers not to take on other players, I want to battle for "good", and feel like I am fighting for the cause with my "heroes".

Here is a hypothetical: So let's say I am on my way to hunt with some pals of mine in Dathomir, just got buffed for 6k, I have my muon, my one piece of composite chest plate, and my sliced DX2. I need to heal a my mind...so I hop over there for only two minutes. Look who enters...stormtroopers and you know what else I forget to take the extra 5 minutes to go to the bank and put my "contraband" in my bank. Great he comes up to me and I get scanned. Now I can either shoot first or go overt. Lets say I shoot first. I get a tef for 10 minutes and most likely I die. Ok there goes my buffs which I just paid 6k for. Now lets take scenario two: I don't shoot, instead I am turned overt. Now I am on the run for no less than an hour. Let's just say I am able to elude the stormies. Now I have to lay low for an hour provided I can find the now "hidden" recruiters. Ok now I am in an element I really don't like. So I am watching over my bck till I can find a recruiter then I go chill at my house till I am covert. Where does this lead us: forcing me into an element of gameplay I choose to stay out of (PVP), massive waste of my time eluding the stormies & other players, finding a reccruiter, and waiting for cover to kick in, those friends of mine are getting peeved waiting for my sorry bothan being to get out to Dathomir so we can start hunting because, I am now not at full health anymore, and my buffs are either gone or halfway to being done.

You might say travel with a smuggler...well have you noticed the hologrinding lately...people are changing professions like they change their underwear.

So let me kind of take you down the route where this would lead if you force the PVP upon folks who don't like it. I would not choose a char. who I think looks cool but rather my choice would be based on who can wear the best armor who is the best person for PVP. You can then eliminate one bothan from the mix here, henceforth less "color" or rather variety from what you see every day. Would you like to see a galaxy where everybody is of the same cookie cutter mix? I didn't think you would. Two I would not purchase that armor, therefore less sales for my local armorsmith. Hey less interdepence in the economy. Third I won't be able want to hunt the occasional stormtrooper. Yes when i do that I do get the TEF for 10 minutes, that is bearable I don't mind leaving myself vulnerable at that time. Beacuse I choose the time that I am going to be vulnerable. Fourth I just might not play anymore. Pure and simple and you know what that is? 15 bucks less that goes to paying a developer to fix this game. Hey guess what...those bugs that keep on popping up are gonna stick around longer. Beacause I am sure that there are plenty of others like me who play simply for PVE.

Perhaps a penalty should be minus 30 faction and you need to bribe the guy 500 credits. But the last thing I want to deal with is an overt status. They are a pain to get rid of and
force you to have to lay low for an hour.

Forcing us into PVP situations will confront us with severe choices where we have to dramatically change the way we play or simply choose not to play.

Cheers,

Ishok Doyle

very sad story though. the poor rebel who has to hide just to save his buffs. ARE YOU KIDDIN ME???? I GOT A SECRET HINT FOR YA !! DONT GO TO CITIES WHERE YOU COULD BE SCANNED !!

i am playing the game 3 weeks ago. and hey if you got no money i pay you every buff you want. LOOOOOL 6k.

this game is based on roleplaying. mmorpgs involve many players. you are not playing alone. if you want to kill stormtroopers just for yourself go play jedi knight or games like that. thats the kind of game you want to play you dont know it yet i think.

dont get me wrong i dont like pvp either. but what i hate even more is dummass rebells bashing some weak stormtroopers in the middle of the city surrounded by imperial players and i dont have the choice to help. if they would switched to overt that is the correct penalty for bad roleplaying, cause even NOONE of your superheroes like leya or han solo would do this in the film.

if i go outside and kill a rebell who is standing in the wilderness its ok for me getting tef. if i dont want it, i leave him alone stinking like rebells always do. thats the sort of freedom imperial players got cause this galaxy is ruled by the emperor.

HAIL TO THE EMPEROR.

cheers

xclone1098:

After ignoring my questions, you continue to complain about rebel PCs attacking, faction farming the new STs in certain cities.

Anytime I have ever attacked a ST (or any Imperial NPC) I recieved a TEF. With a TEF, any rebel player is vulnerable to attack by an Overt Imperial. Why is it you can't attack them?

Then we really have no argument.

Again, I'd have no problem with the Crackdown if the game were as you suggested. The problem is that the game is NOT. When EVERYONE gets an equal penalty (not necessarily identical penalties just equal in severity) then I will be satisfied. I don't believe this will happen, though. More than likely the devs will simply remove the forced-Overt penalty which will only dissatisfy the other side of this argument and that won't help anyone. That sums up the entire problem with this game: rather than find good solutions for problems, the devs simply opt for the easiest solution.

Two words........serverly disappointed (crackdown and imperial presence)

Question: WHAT crackdown and WHAT imperial presence? There is absolutely NOTHING changed after the patch. NOTHING at all. You can still walk into cities like Theed as a rebel, having to fear neither scans nor attacks by NPCs.

I dont know what you guys all are discussing about, but there WAS not crackdown, there IS no imperial presence. The only thing the last patch obviously did, was put 3 stardestroyers in the sky plus a new buff screen. That's about it.

Crackdown? There is no such thing.

Well every once in a while (2 times since publish) I find a band of 10-12 storm troupers in either white or black armor standing around in formation and not an IMP base anywhere near. I poke them, I slap them, nothing happens. They are white to me (neutral). They dont talk much and they dont scan me. Other than that I see only the star destroyers in the sky to suggest there is a 'crackdown'

P.S. Oh there were some interesting new bugs added to Creature Handler

This is identical to my experience. I've seen a few groups of stormies (maybe 3 since the patch) and no matter what I do they don't scan me.

I've traveled to 9 planets since the "crackdown", and for two days I was traveling as an OVERT REBEL, and I have yet to even get scanned.

I'm afraid that it's very broken on some servers, or is bugged for certain characters. Something is wrong...

Imperial Crackdown?

Piles of dead STs... everywhere!

Piles of dead Imp Officers... everywhere!

this patch is called Imperial Crackdown because Imps are getting slaughtered all over the galaxy. the rebels really have cracked down on the Imperials.

Contraband Crackdown

Rebel Crackdown

Spice Crackdown

these names seem to be what the devs wanted, but no, we get an Imperial crackdown.

In the crackdown has the tusken advanced spawn been taken away? i no longer run into anything higher than a chief or warlord.
