(1) Harvesting - The Jedi gets a special survey/harvest ability (at the appropriate level for making lightsabers). Force crystals spawn on the various planets in a few, VERY ISOLATED small patches, and the jedi has to search far and wide for them. When the jedi finds them, they could be of any quality (from 1 to 1000) just like all resources, so it may be months before they ever find any decent ones.

THAT makes sense...it reserves crystals to jedi and preserves the rareness to experienced ones.

EVEN BETTER...Try this idea...

Why not make force crystals just like power for harvesters? You harvest it from the ground (by hand...there are no harvesters for it), and once you have a stack of it, you put it in your lightsaber, which slowly eats the crystals up as the lightsaber is used.

Additionally, just like power, and crystals of 500 OQ or less will work normally, and any crystals of 500+ OQ would give a percent bonus to damage (just like power lasts longer).

Example: A jedi searches all over Yavin IV and finds a 15% patch of force crystals. The jedi harvests for 30 minutes and gets around 1500 units of crystal of 600 OQ. The lightsabers could be made to use up 1 unit of crystal every5 minutes of use, so that harvesting will last the jedi about75 hoursof use. Additionally, since the crystals are 600 OQ, the jedi would get a 20% bonus to his normal lightsaber damage.

That would be a great addition that makes sense to the game!

I really like Zarathustra's idea, makes total sense now that overt Jedi have their own enclave.

kyleknox, are you a 15 year old girl? I have never heard soemone whine and cry about soemthing in my life, hahahah dude i hope you do cancel your account so i never have toread the crap you write ever again. If you want your character to be superman, batman , and spider-man all wrapped into one go play COH. yeah jedi are strong but the did all get whipped out pretty much by 1 guy, which u will see in episode 3. Do you really want half of a server to be runnign around as jedi, casue thats what it really seems like. the voting trials i think is an awsome idea, thats basically howthey advanced in the movies ( the councel voted no on training anikan) ( the dark jedi had no councel cause they were loaners, and use the force to kill , hence the dueling the dark jedi have to do toadvance)it will limit the amount of high level jedi on a server. Another thing, 90% comp armor is goin bye bye my friend, if u would read the upcoming combat balance you will see that no one will have it anymore. and why would u want to wear armor any way, your a freaking jedi. Maybe you would be happy with SOE if they made your character Jesus, would that make you happy?

"Jedi Enclaves are hidden places where Jedi gather for anything from Force Ranking battles to role playing underground councils. One Enclave will be implemented as a gathering point for Light Jedi and one for Dark Jedi. These Enclaves are off limits for any player who has not completed the Jedi Knight Trials. "

this is the only thing im not liking. So basically all the jedi at this level can log on and off in these enclaves and do all the leveling they want with out a bouny hunter being able to get to them? I dont know if i like that.

I am probaly older than you are, boy. Instead of throwing around stupid names, read my points describing the failure of this revamp and logically tell me where I am off.

Dude, did you even READ the damn archives? It CLEARLY states (if you werent too intimidated by more than one paragraph) that you still have all the credit to get all the possible skill boxes any Jedi can get if you are a current 4-4-4-4 Guardian. It, in plain english, states that your character will begindown the Knight trials, but you will already be, in essance, a master Knight. You will RIGHT AWAY FROM DAY ONE be able to begin PvP among other things to gain your ranking in the underground council. You will be considered a "Jedi Master" because you have no skills besides force skills and are maxed out on those, but each Jedi Master will have their own specialty. You build them how you see fit. Understand, or are you going to waste more of our time by calling the devs idiots, when in reality you are the one confused by larger than average words and multiple paragraphs? You may be older than some of the people here, but the fact that you are not asking questions and just flaming without asking for clarification constitutes you as a child, no matter your age. Take your flames elsewhere and try to put yourself in the DEV's shoes for a sec. you have no idea what its like to have to appeal to the tastes of thousands upon thousands of people, while trying to keep the game balanced and fun. It is alright to disagree, but yelling isn't gonna do **edit**.

There will never be aMMO where everyone is completely happy, but I have confidence that the DEVs are doing everything they can to make this game a blast for everyone.

Now, I have better things to do than to lecture, unless you are still going to be grumpy about things you do not know and decide to try and make a witty comeback. In that case I look forward to your comments.

You are mistaken. Funny how you berate me for not reading and paying attention when that is your EXACT shortcoming. You will not be able to PvP, in this sense, unitl AFTER you complete the jedi knight trials. Who knows what those are? Or how long they will take. I imagine it will take longer thatn a day. What I do know is that I WILL NOT be a jedi KNIGHT int he new system until I complete it.

And when a whole community gets together and lists its top fiveissues, andDevs try to pitch a revamp THAT DOES NOTDIRECTLY address each of them, then yes that is idiotic from a customer relations - and developer - point of view.

Dude, you're missing the point.

Look at the definition of change sometime. It means not the same, ie different. You're question is why won't you be the same as you are now: 1 box from Jedi Master? The answer is.....because this is a CHANGE.

If you were the head machinist for a company that had 2 types of machines, and then they changed those 2 to a different types, you wouldn't know how to work on those, but you'd still be the "head machinist", you'd still be above everyone else and get priority for the training.

Same deal here. You're getting full credit, a jumpstart. The people who aren't 4/4/4/4 Guardians will still need to earn skill points before they can be at your level.

Get it now? You're WAY AHEAD of everyone else. Ok, so you aren't "head big-wig honcho of the council", but as you can see, people are concerned about the head honcho's never moving from there, and since you get first kick at the cat for those, you have a good chance at being the unmovable head honcho of your side.

I don't see any reason for you to be upset. You don't have to do mindless gnort missions getting your jedi skillboxes, you just have to complete a handful of trials.

Would you prefer having nothing to do? I'll tell ya what, if you want to be the most bored, useless Jedi in the Galaxy with no content until others level up and you can fight someone, you can be Jedi master in my books.

But honestly, I have no clue why you'd whine to get yourself less content. Just doesn't make sense bro.

Anyways, good luck to ya.

Are you insane my friend, if you came up to a group of 20-40 Jedi doing PVP trials you would be clone center boy. Most of your time will be spent slaughtering the huge amount of wuss Jedi, you will have plenty to kill, only big boys that would spank you like a redheaded step child will be in the enclave. Or the Sentinals will get them... (are these the ones from the Matrix? Help me I don't remember the Star Wars Sentinals.)

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

well i absolutely like the changes just a few things....

please change the kinetic damage thats so so urgent

and i am kinda confused of being ALWAYS overt.....after dieing, getting cloned there should be a bit time when you can get yourself ready notbeing ganked by 20 hungry enemies at the cloner - you should take care of that

i absolutely LOVE the new pvp ranking system and being able to attack enemies that was also soooo important for so many of us

i also hope that the robes will not have bad protection cause then they'll be useless in pvp

My main question is one I've seen asked alot and not addressed. What will become of a current Padawan when the new system takes effect? I'm about to chose either the Light or Dark Side with the current system.... will I be considered a Knight in the new system or will I basically be starting from scratch again.

Thanks

I thought that was explained in Jedi Archives Vol. 2?

One thing I hope is that when the 'conversion' in publish 10 goes live that we have some cut off for getting part of the 24 'profs' mastered in the past to get force sensitive. I take it from what was posted the idea was being tossed around to have the 24 quests each give you one of the the 24 boxes in the force sensitive tree. As such means anyone who has doen even one proffession would get a box of force sensitive skill. I would assume that in the conversion that do something like maybe 12 profs get ya to where can gain the force sensitive abilities then 12 quests give ya 2 of each or something. The whole conversion at publish 10 seems like could be bad as from how sounds everyone will be getting some force sensitive skills off the bat if they masstered even one proff unless you make it so that the amount of the quest that is done is like 32-numer of profs you have done how many 'quests' you have to do to unlock. With the 24 quests being the cap.

Also have to say the idea of the light sabers having the special dammage type that is not represented by normal armor is appealing. Maybe make it so that can add layers to help protect against that attack and maybe make people have special armor for jedi hunting that is not cookie cutter. Maybe make it so that those layers can only be done by people who have done quests for the schematic (like RIS) and/or layers usable only in some certine types of armor. Who know maybe have the adition of sith alchamy layers for dark siders and the other layers for light side.

As for the weapons and crystal/pearls I am glad that looking ahead to the combat ballance and making the underther the hood adjustment to the sabers but when people see lower stats will not take into mind that there is some unknown multiplier that they can not see. Sadly many in this game like hard cold facts. I can see why doing it the way you are doing as this way you do not have to adjust the sabers again with the combat ballance just remove the under the hood changes and such. Other way would either have to go in and modify the DB to change all sabers or will be left with many high powered legacy weapons like the pre-nerf weapons we see now. I think the idea of having NPC's like the curent jedi trainers that give out missions that have a higher chance of droping crystals/pearls might be cool if make it so that those missions are like some of the themeparks where when the mob is killed the item if it has it goes into the person who got the missions inv. This way people do not have people KSing their crystal/pearl missions. MAke it not so that these missions drop them every time but have a higher chance or maybe have some that give diffrent levels of crystals for diffrent types of missions. Maybe have it so that do not have a flood make the crystals you recieve from these missions be like the holo you get from the dath temple missions and can not be traded so does not flood market.

As for the robes. I can see problems with this as some have stated that unless robes are really good they will hinder rather than replace the curent armor. Idea being maybe have it as your progress the armor you can wear as a jedi is less and less or armor impares jedi abilities. But leave the option. As for the robes maybe its wishfull thinking but way that I assume taht they are being done is a mix of AP levels and resist for the diffrent levels as well as abilities (i.e. socked abilities such as say +50 knockdown or bleed def). Now if there is a good mix of those three the robes can be good. Also maybe make it so that that the higher level robes cover more 'armor spots' such as the lowest robe is able to be worn over armor and as the robes increase in level make it so the robe covers other parts so that armor not able to be worn (such as none, helm, helm+shoulders, helm+shoulders+legs and so on till eventualy you are just in the robe for all armor locations).

As for the 'elections' and pvp aspect. Again my assumption is that the ranking is still based on say total enemy kills and the election only comes in when there is a tie. I figure that you have a kill tally that is people you killed - times you are killed = rank kills. Then when there is a tie for one of those higher level slots you either duke it out and kill the other guy (dark side style which would remove a kill from the other persons tally as they 'died' making the winner the higher ranked) or have an election (light side style where a win in the election counts as a kill for the winner making them now higher ranked in standings). Also with the decay I figure like kills/deaths now in time the kills you have will drop off with time and thus you might have a good voting block of friends but if some ambitions person goes out and kills more as you sit in councle and debate they might become more prominant thus take over in ranks. I also assume that the elections will be a timed thing like city elections and that the limited rank slots will be up only every few days or so and not totaly fluid so that wont be out fighting and someone makes a kill and you drop down in power. Again my asumption on how I read it and would see it as being done.

Thunderheart i've read all the posts in this topic and the one question that really stands out is - WILL CRYSTALS AND PEARLS BE AQUIRED IN THE SAME WAY AS THEY ARE NOW?

No, but the design on how they will be dropping is happening as we speak, so I have no hints.

I sure hope so. This simply MUST be fixed. The revamp looks great to me so far. If they don't address the damage type of the saber AND the means in which we acquire our much needed saber components it will be a great disapointment. I just started changing my main to a BE/CH for some fun content. I'm going to be seriouslydisapointed if I am forced to continue my main char as some perverted slave to a Jedi avatar as a means of getting pearls and crystals. I honestly do not want to make some odd TKM/Sword or CM/Rifleman template to go hunt Krayts or camp out at the tusken fort. I have not done this so far, and I have lost my entire savings to the auctions to acquire these items, but i'm out of money and almost out of crystals.

As always, we look forward to your updated communication. I'm sure as soon as you hear something, we will also. Thanks in advance for the continued great work TH.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but what about the holocron issue? do they even exist anymore? are they going to play any part in the quest to become a jedi? I certainly hope not.
