Thread: On Mandalorian Armor
i think you guys are on the crack pipe, let me a couple of things that may amaze you crack heads. Star wars is not real. Games are not real, Star wars galaxies is a game. In star wars there were no restrictions or limitations to the main charecters for what they might acomplish, this is not true for a video game, all games have restrictions, get this bs conception that this game can and will be REAL star wars out of your heads. To make the GAME work, it should be BH only, bottem line, you can argue and **edit** and moan all you want. I have never been a BH and probably never will be. But the stuff logically for the better future of the game needs to be only BH. For one reason it would keep the item rare if only one class can wear it, another reason is because BH suck right now, and I agree without being one that spending that many sp on one class should merit somethign better then someone who spends half of that to be a master of another proffession. I think anyone should be able to own it, but to use the armour effectively at all you should be a BH, I know in real star wars this is not true, but this is a game, and for the games sake it should be. Lets not forget that weapons have certs, well if ya did'nt know the armor is a weapon also. God i just want everyone to get the conception of real star wars out of their freaken heads. I mean if this was real star wars their would only be 2 jedi in the whole galaxy right now. The rest would just be concidered force users, because i say again, jedi is a seperate job that uses the force as an ally, meaning that you don't have to be a jedi to use the force in real star wars. So as you can see this is a game. So you have to possible options, make the game absolutely real, take away jedi and mando armor from the game, and lose ALL your players, or make it a semi-real MMORPG give BH mado armour, let anyone who can do it unlock jedi, and in the end everyone will be happy. If you hav'nt noticed the game has just recently been crawling its way out of beta phase.
I have hope for this game, because I have hope in money. The devs will soon realize that the players are their money, and while most people that say they are leaving don't, they will soon. I know i said i was leaving 2 months before I did. But I still left. More will do the same, and now that I am back 3 months later it seems that most of my comrades have done the same thing, to include some jedi I know. But from what I am seeing, the devs are finnally understanding the game is not theirs anymore. I think they are under the understanding after working for 3 years on it, that it is theirs, they are so attached to the damn thing, they do what THEY think is best, well I am sorry, but a group of small people is not as smart as the number of people that play this game. Hell if the devs played this game they would realize some stuff, I want to see a dev actually acomplish making a full suit of RIS armour, and make it so it does'nt suck. Hell just make a full suit it can suck if you want it to. They can't do it, and they won't. They want to make this game for the casual gamer, well the best judge of what a casual gamer can do is what YOU YOURSELVES CAN DO, you work just like us, do you think you have the time and ability to do the things that involve making a suit of this armour? I did'nt think so.
I am sorry if I got off track, just needed to say somethings.
Why? I hate the fact that there will soon to be many Jngo/Boba Fett wannabes roaming the galaxy. Rare is that, RARE. To even hand this out at all makes it easy to un-rare it. Being true to Star Wars, there should be only one set of Mando armor on a server. That would be on Boba himself, standing there in Jabbas Palace (You can go check him out). Instead of brining in new armor, maybe you can fix RIS armor and let that run a few months, then come back to MAYBE implementing Mando armor.
I agree with all the posts about certs for armor, as itadds realism to this game.
And for those of you crying about crafters selling things at prices that make you wanna slap your mother just remember one thing, al of us did this. There is a something for nothing mentality going on in this game. We have made this EQ in space. You think I'm full of it then check the trade forum. I'm sure you would be nausiated at some of the prices that people are asking for items that took very little time or effort into getting.
As for the Devs, you guys work hard and I for one appreciate it. You do listen to players and that is rare in itself. Yes I think this game is still buggy, but it is improving. Maybe when the younger generation playing this game hits puberty it will be fun again.
Thanks for your time

Do wookiees get a version of this?
Or, for that matter, how about some kind of compensation for wooks doing the various theme parks and dungeons aside from stuff that we can't use/wear, that is comarable to the awesome loot that everyone else can acquire?
For one fact, all u wookies complain that u have no armor to the point the devs make up a armor not real to swg. Then u want more armor, just change u'r character!!!!
I really fell that the armor should be for BH, and possibly Commandos, only. If they do make it for everyone, and I think they will, then MBH should get a cert that makes it better for them then for the rest. This would be one way of making up for the fact that MBH get so very little defense and dont have enough points left to make up for it in another template.
I must also say that im afraide that it wont be possible for BH and commandos to get this armor without the help of all their rifle/tka friends to help them. This will lead to the fact that the armor will be very expensive to buy, and for some people almost impossible to get. I think the difficulty of the dungeon should be like "the warren", hard for new players but doable at higher lvls. A theme park would be better I think, but what do I know.
So, I still have little hope of the way they will implement this armor in the game, but I guess we will just have to wait and see. :/
Loot being schematics is just genius. This allows crafters some business and solves the warrior vs crafter uber loot accessibility problems.
Uber leet doodzare strong enough to find the schematic, now what, what are they gonna do with it? Thay have to sell it to a crafter.
The crafter then sells the finished product to the leet doode.
The crafter gets limited production = RARE
The only thing i would suggest is for the suit to require INSANE amounts of materials, and only a FOOL crafter would attempt to make it with below 900 stats on resource quality.
Insane amounts of materials
(like 5k water, normal amounts of metal but like 5k of polymer and 5k of fiberplast)and 1 or 2 rare item components, like RIS but maybe not as many rare requirements. and the segments. (10 fiberplast panels and5 metal fasteners!, lol)

Get used to it: Mandolorian Armor will be for all species that can wear it. The amount of people who will be outraged by NOT being able to wear it if it is restricted to just those 2 classes BY FAR outweighs the people who will be or are outraged that it will be for all classes. And, lets face it... when the masses want something in a game like this, they get it. If they don't? SOE loses money, and that's obviously NOT what they are going for.
ok, here are my thoughts:
The loot from the death watch should either be a one use schematic, or a full suit drop. The stats of the suit shouldn't be that different from composite, maybe slightly lighter. But, here's the kicker.
Mandalorian armor was customized to the needs of the warrior wearing it. No doubt Jango and Boba customized their suits during the times they used them.
Thus, Mandalorian armor should be upgradable. Give it "upgrade" sockets, which you can use to add different upgrades to the suit. For instance, if you want a wrist mounted flamer, you have to go through the ordeal of finding the schematic and possibly loot required to make the flamer. Then, you can mount that flamer in your armor, and have it to use. The same can be done with protection/resists. Make a quest/loot system that requires an ultra-hard quest and ultra-rare (ris component rare)drop or three. Then you can use most of your armors slots and get an upgrade to medium armor. Or have different upgrades for different resists, or encumberance reducers. In this way, you can create a whole lot of content, and make Mandalorian armor truly fearsome, and each set will be unique.
