I have a suggestion for giving holo grinders credit.

There are 32 possible professions to unlock. There are 24 skill boxes to get the FS slot and Padawan. That means if you give3 skill boxes for every 4 professions completed, 32 professions would be all 24 skill boxes. I think this would be the fairest way of compensation. At least its alot better than what they had planned.

Yeah, and round upward

What's the deal with the 24 FS Slots to get Padawan..I thought it was 6 to qualify for Padawan and take the trials and get your glowy stick?...

Can anyone confirm if its 6 or 24 that we have to get to get to the Padawan trials to become a Jedi?

You need 6 full trees that contain four boxes each. 6 * 4 = 24

I recently took advantage of the character transfer service and moved from starsider to intrepid. I was aware that I would lose my badges, but I would like to know if I will get credit for the many professions I ground while on starsider as it would be very dissapointing to lose all that progress. I remember reading in the jedi archives you saying something to the tune of professions being a seperate tag that has always been there, seperate from the badges and even before badges came out.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you read the first point of Transfer guidelines carefully you will miss out:

  • Characters will ONLY be allowed to take their appearance, experience and skills with them. All items, pets, credits, badges, quest status, etc. will NOT transfer with the character.

They cannot even transfer one that has unlocked, must be tied in to the sever somehow.

Veteran Gamers should definatly get credit towards FS, why should those who chose not to take part in what was deemed "unhealthy" for the game, be no better off or worse of than those that started an account 2 months before pub 9 and unlocked.. just not fair I think to those that have always been MBH for example.

If we are to keep it fair, then anyone who has an active account for longer than 6 months should get there 2nd slot unlocked with Pub 10.

Thats just my opinion though.

How is that fair? Not that I have an opinion one way or the other, but I'm just curious as to your reasoning here.

I know I'm a ranter without much exlenation, but if you would like some then here ya go my friend.

Someone who has an account longer than 6 months has paid around $100 to play this game and for someone to last more than a few weeks, either likes the game allot or is hoping things will get better. In either case, players should be rewarded for their dedication to the game itself, not just the grind. Also, someone like me who has been playing since launch and not quitingfrom nerf after nerf, and have done all I can to unlock should be rewrded by being granted my 2nd slot wothout more hassle. The biggest problem with this game is that so far there is no middle ground, either things are really hard to accomplish or extremely easy. Lets just hope that the new way to unlock is just FUN. Ok, Im done ranting :-)

this would not be fair either. you see, there is still a strong contingent of players who have been here since launch. anyone whose account has been active for 9 months or more should get their second slot automatically. 6 month players haven't dealt with near the amount of crap they think they have. these are those who have truly suffered:

anyone who ever controlled 3 full strength rancors as a NOVICE CH.

anyone who ever leveled professions with a PROBOT as their only tank.

anyone who ever had to do a corpse run only to die on the way.

anyone who ever had a fwg5 enhanced by both krayt AND a feeder.

anyone who ever had to group with 20 other people to go to the Tusken Fort.

anyone who ever solo'd krayt dragons and kimo's when they only had 26k-36k HAM.

anyone who ever dueled before the 75% PvP reduction was instituted.

anyone who ever owned a set of BONE ARMOUR because it was the best available.

these people have suffered through nerf, after nerf, after nerf, after lie, after lie, after lie, after broken promise, after broken promise. if you are still here through all this you deserve to made an instant Jedi Master. Why? Because you are one crazy son of a ----- to hang around through all that and keep paying SOE for it. it's miller time, and this bud's for you...

While I can understand your reasoning here, I don't agree with it. What you're saying is that you chose to ignore the mechanism in place to achieve Jedi, yet simply because you've been around a long time you think you should get credit toward your force sensitive slot. By similar logic, shouldn't I be entitled to certain rewards in the game even though I chose to not participate in the systems that usually grant them? Should I, for instance, be entitled to the rewards for doing the Rebel theme park even though I chose not to do it, just because I've been around since shortly after launch?

What it boils down to is that you chose not to take part in the only known system to unlock a force sensitive character. It doesn't matter, really, that you chose to do so because you felt it was unhealthy for the game or you had some objection to the implentation. You made that decision knowing full well that doing so would prevent you from playing a Jedi. Force sensitivity in no way should simply be an "old-timer's" perk. SOE gives us paintings, silly sculptures, and spaceships for that. Jedi is something that you should have to work for, and if you want to play one, you must work through the mechanisms designed to achieve that.

What a crap!?

We unlocked! That means we mustget second character slot. We were promised to get the second character slot if we unlock before P10. I was unfortunate to unlock just a week after P9 came live. I think it's not fair! You hear me?

Where's the dude that posted you can quit crying now? HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

We were promised more! I want what was promised and nothing more - Padawan and second character slot.

Looks like the people who unlocked between pubs 9 and 10 finally get some love. This is good news. But still no word on the status of the primary chars of those who unlocked pre pub9. Will we have access to the village.. will we have any credit?.. or will we be evaluated for FS status just like any other char. Will the credit system be able to tell between us and somebody who unlocked post pub9, or are we going to get 6 FS skill lines, whether the Devs intended it or not??? Just a few questions I would like to see answered.

Thanks, good job on the new system. The village is very cool

Where's this post that says SOE isn't giving us a second character slot at Padawan? Everything I've read says we get one, and I haven't seen anything to the contrary.

That aside, I'm pretty certain you're talking about having to do the intro and exit, and then the Padawan trials. Perhaps it's a legitimate gripe on some level, though honestly, what's wrong with a little questing and role playing, even for this. The *vast* majority of what was asked for was granted after a huge fuss was raised, and you don't have to grind through the millions of XP required to plow through the FS boxes.

It looks like all the people that grinded hard to unlock pre 9 didnt have to..lol .. sucks... wonder if we can get a re-roll at least lol....my god and the guy that is crying "I was promised THIS AND THAT " DUDE WE WERE PROMISED long before you that this profession would be secret and mysterious.... so um.... go chill.... and get in line..

Now as has been stated before this is how it should be for non unlockers

1 Holocron = 20% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 5 boxes and 1,275,000 FS XP
2 Holocrons = 40% of the Boxes and the xp for those boxes 10 Boxes and 2,550,000 FS XP
3 Holocrons = 60% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 15 Boxes and 3,825,000 FS XP
4 Holocrons = 80% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 20 Boxes and 5,100,000 FS XP

Now this leaves all the professions people grinded trying to find the elusive Silent Profession. Instead of saying they arent worth anything Have them Turn in FS XP. not box unlocks just XP to put towards boxes in the branches you unlock from the quests you need to do. Maybe have it so each profession is worth 100,000 FS XP. This way All Hologrinders get the same credit for the Holocrons in branch and XP unlocks. But then the People Who Grinded all the extra professions trying to Unlock would recieve credit for those other professions simply in xp instead of more unlocks.

Holocrons were the way to Jedi. Many of us worked hard or paid a lot of credits to get them and them to grind out the professions. The devs put them in game to show you the path to jedi. Completing them should be rewarded.

We will come out with more info, and it will be fair.

But why not stop the grind right now? Just play! You are going to make it soon enough anyway, and the village is very fun!

What about those of us who have ground 20+ professions, still no unlock? How is this fair, as compared to the original unlockers who completed 5-6 professions?

I have worked 4x as hard grinding professions as the orignal jedi's who unlocked - without the payoff.

The arbitrary way that you changed the unlock process without any notification or disclosure is appalling.

Now you are changing it all around again, and my 23 professions means nothing, IF I DO NOT CONTINUE till unlock.

From what I've seen, the ONLY credit being given now, is for people who have unlocked between 9-10, and for people who have NOT ground professions, mastered 2-3 single professions, and have max exp.

You've had us chasing red herrings...paying full price for the same product as everyone else...yet they get the 2nd character slot on the same server, and those of us who have NOT unlocked are forced to pay TWICE as much for similar functionality....

Fair?? Try thinking of a new term to use...obviously SOE doesn't have a clue about the meaning of the word fair.

Give up the hologrind, huh? Just Play!

hahah...we've been hunting for the holy grail of SWG for over a year... everytime we close in on it, you change the rules...and now we're being told to stop chasing it...

was this your idea of population control?

"oops...6 professions was too easy... lets kick it up to 10...and not tell anyone...that should slow them down!"

"Nope...too many...lets try 15, then 20, then 32!"

"AND lets create a bug that neglects to tell some people, but tells some others, so we can keep the players hopes up for a while..."

"yeah...good idea - we have to hold them off a while, till we figure out a way to revamp it all entirely..."

...

...

"hey...i got it! we'll make it easy!...but we'll but it on timers, and make the destination so laggy with all the players, that they will quit before they gain their force sensitivity!"

"great ideas guys....another good developement meeting. Now who's up for a round of beers, andthen we can spend the rest of the day in 'closed alpha' playing JTL"

This has been my point all along. I have 28 professions completed, i've been doing this crap since last october when teh first holo's started dropping. Then low and behold the first person unlocks. lol

anyone remember what here post was about what she had done to unlock, does she even still play anylonger?

she said when she unlocked that she had only mastered 6 professions, and on that particular day she logged in, got buffed and killed a friggin brackaset on dathmir. so where the hell did the whole profession thing come into play at? that was an after thought of course. The developer decided they had to get a couple of jedi out there, so they gave it away to random accounts, the rest of us have had to put endless hours grinding profession after profession in chasing the very idea of being a jedi, wich by the way was promised to us when we bought the game I might add. so please tell me another story SOE, I'm all ears.
