Not if you ruin it for everybody else.

TEF and perma death was there for a reason, to keep the Jedi population at an acceptable low level. The removal of TEF and perma death have shown that the Jedi population will grow beyond control without them. So please reintroduce some control mechanisms to keep number of Jedi down and in hiding.

Do you think all those Jedi in cities unlocked after Publish 9? No.. Population was always same before publish.. You just didnt see or notice them while everyone was wearing composite armor including jedis..

Sorry but you only see 'minority' of Jedis inside cities and decent jedis are still advancing in middle of nowhere... Punishment for minority will affect majority and you really dont want that...

As I repat again, Jedi TEF (yes -inside city for showboats.. plus inside city if you use force powers, you are directly in BH terms, no escape, take a BH with you and kill him/her if you are angry that much)

Out in wild (no, preventing grief fest)

I'm reporting any names that breaks the Naming Policy, Roleplay seriousity and copyright laws, you can too...

That is actually a pretty sane response Renairdor.Even though I dont agree with everything you said 5 stars to you.I must say that my main concern is much like other peoples. Right now overts are only in the game to be xp for the Jedi. If they see a Knight, they are forced to run. And more than likely that knight will catch up to them and kill them for the FRS xp. Simple as that. Why would they want to participate in something that they have no chance of winning in?

Having read alot of the comments with regards to the Jedi TEF i thought i would post another possible solution.

Given that the lightsabre TEF was removed for a good reason, and that the current destruction of the feel of the game through having Jedi showing off everywhere was not what the Devs intended (at least i hope it wasn't), and that in TH's words it is being reassessed i would suggest the following;

When a Jedi uses a lightsabre/force powers(/robes?) alter that players radial menu to temporarily include the option to TEF them.

That should allow Jedi to be Jedi but still with the risk of being turned in if in public. It should allow a Jedi to group up with trusted friends and play without the irritation of a TEF since they can only get one if another player has line of sight to them and wants to TEF them. It also should mean that the showing off in cities and starports that is destroying the feel and experience of the game should end fairly rapidly (natural selection is a wonderful thing). It could even be a fairly simple way of working visibility on BH terminals, increasing visibility as more people TEF 'turn in' a Jedi they see.

Hopefully this is somewhere between the return of the old system and all the problems it entailed and then current state where a game suposed to be set between episodes 4 and 5 is starting to feel like somewhere between episodes 1 and 2 (with an extra side order of Jedi).

Just a thought.

That is a great idea, but you should also add a small reward to the one that TEFed the Jedi since the Empire is very greatful to get rid of those Jedi.

There should be some Imperial troops showing up each time you get TEFed as well. And each time the force coming for you get stronger untill you get a visit from an invincible Darth Vader, and then have a nice perma death........

This have possibilities.

Lets try this one on for size Jedi's can currently have other professions and it was to my and many others understanding we could place and own our oown houses/structures now. Now tell us Why is it just the opposite. yes Jedi has other professions but NO we can not place any structures at all. No houses, harvesters etce tc. IS this a bug or did the developers decide to not give this to jedi currently?

Actually, they are. It was part of Jedi Archives 3 and Im working with the team to get this looked at.

So funny, how come Non Jedi always have it better than Jedi? I mean atleast they can protect themselves. Jedi dont have any % resistance at all. Its all skill based. We cant even equip a PSG. I hope this is the only thing you are going to give them, Jedi PvP damage is already really low as it is.

You are a jedi. You can do ranged attacks and meleeattacks with the same weapon. you can choke. you can shoot lightning. you can run faster and hit harder. you can heal yourself... without medicine. Tell me now, how does a non-jedi have it better than a jedi?

Its pretty obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about or have no friends that are jedis. force choke sucks on buffed players. Lightning bolt blows. Hit harder?? maybe mobs but not in pvp currently. Medicine, well i would think that if jedi is the elite profs of all profs, they could do something special. Have you seen a jedi duel a stacking non jedi melee profession yet?? If not, please!!!, go watch a duel of a jedi against a stacking melle profie tkm/swordsman,then come back here and rant.....end of story. Then you can go make your melee template and stop trolling the boards.

Why should a Jedi wielding a light saber in a starport get a tef? Why have a tef at all? Give FRS Jedi get xp for killing coverts too! Personally, it would be a great honor to be killed by a Jedi.

Nothing forced here that I see. If you dont want PvP, just dont be a Jedi like the majority of us. I dont seeany problem.

In STAR WARS, Obi-Wan Kenobi drew his lightsaber in the Mos Eisley cantina/starport. Minutes later he and his group were chased off the planet by Stormtroopers, and pursued through space by TIE fighters and Star Destroyers. They barely escaped with their lives.

That's what Jedi should be experiencing any time they use their powers or pull their lightsaber in public.

Odeko Resci

NOT because Ben pulled his saber, though, they got attacked and chased because of the droids, and then because they blasted out of a starport.... If you read the books.

The droids were not with them at the time. But the ST were interested in Bens handywork, as was said in the movie. The droids were of course the root of the problem of the main storyline, but not the problem in the canteena.

I have seen the exact scene in the exact same cantina in Eisley - jedi cuts down a few people. No, the cantina did not jump said jedi, since no one wanted to die, but a couple minutes later a squad came in and killed the jedi. A TEF does not mean everyone will jump you, it just means that you will have to be more careful.

Spoken truly like someone who does not play a jedi. Of course the Jedi didnt get attacked in the cantina. AFK Dancers don't usually attack people.

A visit to a cantina for me went somethinglike this, while TEF's were in:

Sit down.

Bounty hunter charges in and attacks.

Use either saber to defend or force powers to get away.

Get attacked by no less than 20 people, die in seconds.

Wow, you got attacked by 20AFK entertainers in Canteena?

i dont wanna make a "pissing contest" but for me, i only started with swg to play a jedi and make pvp. and i dont know why we should not be able to go into dungeons as other players. ok u could say in starwars jedis dont show themselves. but in starwars jedi are UBER and would not be killed by a silly tka. i have to take it so seriously because i will quit if things will get like before pub 9 and i dont wanna get nearly a year of playing just wasted because some people are pissed by a few jedis. why the hell did i master 28 professions to get a weak saberman ??

Yeah, they are uber in StarWars, but they are also dead after being hunted down by Vader and his"friends". I dont see a lot of dead Jedi out there. The only Jedi of any skill was Obi-Wan and Joda, the rest was just wrecked leftovers that managed to hide.

So by the movie you are either dead or wrecked leftover hiding in hard to find places. You are not combat-gods lightsabre dueling in spaceports.

As for why you mastered all those professions........beats me. And if there was just a few Jedi that did know to behave like Jedi people would not be upset, but what we have is a horde of immature Jedi showing off.

Ok My suggestion would be to swipe away all the employees (devs ,Forum mods , CSR's) like they did all the fun in this game and start over with a clean slate that know how to listen to and understand the community that supplies the $$$$$$$ for there paychecks.

FRS system is not working.

There are far too little overts or light jedi to kill for experience.

  • Increase XP earned per kill.

  • Decrease XP needed for ranks.

  • Create another way to earn FRS XP.

Most of the time while people raid a city 1 or 2 goes overt therest gets a tef and currently we get -1 XP for DB'ing a teffed person.

I play 14hours a day and i barely see any overts running around let alone ranked light jedi, i get maybe 500 xp in those 14hours.

I even have to ask friends or randomto duel me so i can DB them for XP.

Thunderheart can you go into chat with the developer of this system and ask if he has any ideas to solve this?

Here is a hint. We refuse to be jedi content we are here for our enjoyment not yours. This post will self nerf in 30 seconds.

My issues aren't specific to a place or server:

3.)EXP penalty should be scaled to the level of the jedi. How about a system where the death peantly is 10000 exp for every point invested in a jedi skill? That would make things easier on the padawaans and still give a 250k or so exp penalty to Knights. A Padawaan who doesn't have many Lightsaber skills will take hours or days to get back a 200k exp debt. And with the young ones being the primary targets of the BHs, you'll only end up making people cancel their accounts this way.

Correct that the exp penalty need to be changed, but wrong in direction. It should be that you lose at least one skill box each time you die, at a minimum.

Disagree ifor a large number of reasons.

a) Jedi are not powerful to 'cut swathes through other players'. Actually during Padawan they are much weaker then your general melee template since they cannot wear armor.

b) Jedi should be fun. We are in a MMORG, Jedi has been brought down to the level of 'just another class' - with a large focus on the light saber skill tree, you can be a good damage dealer in PvE, but still due to reductions in PvP it's not very dominating except against a weekly defended enemy. This is no different then any class. You see 1200 dmg rated Acklay bone power hammers now- that actually do MORE damage against Nightsister Elders, then a 4th gen, all flawless 50 dmg crystal saber. And the Swordsman in composite can tank the Nightsister Indefinitely. Even as Master Defender/Master LS, the Nighsister Elder hits me for a whopping 300 a hit- compare that to 30 a hit for a swordsman.

c) If you want large penalties on death, you need to balance with large gains to survive it. Do you want Jedi powerful? No. They are , and will be common. Folks want to play them- it's as much their game as yours. What they should not do is allow any class to dominate a sector of the game and grief other players. Lightsaber damage is unique, so does a nice proportion of damage to mobs such as Krayts and NIghtsisters- HOWEVER, a Commando with a good flame DOT does about the same damage, and is about as tough in their armor against these mobs. There is no balance reason to incur extremely steep penalties on Jedi, unless you actually want Jedi to be a lot more powerful.

d) Jedi being rare? Guys- it's a Star Wars online game. It's not Star Wars the Universe, or the movie. Look at other online games- Ultima 11 is a good one to compare against. You can be 'The Avatar' after a lot of work to open that slot. Heck, everyone can be 'The Avatar'. It's not exactly true to the story line, but it's a high end and fun goal for players to achieve. Jedi in Star Wars Galaxies is just an alternative class you can unlock after playing the game a fair amount. The professions path was a bad thing- that hurt the game's fun factor. It's being changed. We have new jedi, and soon a new unlocking system. Not all players need to 'master' jedi, or even go knight. You could be a Jedi Healer/TKA if you wanted, or any hybrid you can think of.

Let me put this in as few words as possible: the devs said that like in the movies Jedi should be very, very, very, very hard to become and survive as. They are now in a carebearstate while still being unbalanced compared to otther professions.

They should either powerdown Jedi so it is not any more powerful then any other profession or meke them very, very, very, very hard to become and survive as.

Nuff said!
