Hey peeps....just let the Starport thing go already, jeez. It will get adjusted as they want, and you guys filling up a whole page of posts about it wont do any good. They just ignore these kind of posts. They did not promise to drop Starport times, they said they were discussing the Starport wiat still. Notice how they distinguished between Shuttles (stating implicitly the time) and Starport (no implicit statement on time).

Move on.....nothing to see here.....

I agree!!

Too often I see pages of posts between players arguing over interpretations of DEV comments. In the flood of these posts, the valuable questions (and sometimes answers) get lost.

They will give us what they want to give us when they are ready.

If you want to try and encourage a change that a majority of the players would like to see, great.

Do you think arguments between the players will do anything to achieve that goal?

But lets keep in mind the concept of "Constructive Player Input"!

I for one would love to see 5 min star port wait times. But I agree with them dropping the anywhere to anywhere idea. IMO it would ruin the feel of galactic travel.

In place of the anywhere to anywhere concept I've suggested in other posts that we should be able to buy connecting tickets, maybe at a slightly reduced cost.

For example; Say I'm on Lok and want to go to Yavin. I'd like to be able to go to the ticket vendor at the star port in Nym's Stronghold and buy a ticket to Tatooine, then buy a connector from Tatooine to Corellia, then buy aconnector from Corellia to Yavin. (keeping round trip as an option at each step)

This in combination with a 5 min wait would allow usto spawn in the destination star port and board the next shuttle right a way (if it is there), without running to the terminal to buy the ticket for the next leg of the trip.

On a side note I do think the DEVsare trying to distract us from all "problems" that exist in game now by handing out shinny new toys (droids).

Just a comment.....

The Harvesting module only seems to be used by Novice Scouts.... didn't you mention in the patch notes "anyone" could use it?

WHY would a novice scout use it if he can harvest himself?!

And before people start chiming in "Well you can harvest twice! With the droid and the player!" Apparently, NO, you CAN'T. You can either harvest yourself, OR with the droid. Not both.

THIS IS CURRENTLY COMPLETELY USELESS.

ok, done with my comment.

Not for me it isnt Jenner... I can sit back at ranged distance.. kill something with my pistols, send in good ole (harvey) to harvest without placing myself at more risk of close combat. Kiting is my friend..

Starports are still 10 minutes...... Oh and out of sync..nice....what about direct flight? did that get shot down by the "Immersion fools"? I could give a rat's hat about shuttles. I don't use shuttles I use starports and since we got exiled to Rori with the dumb city cap trying to go places takes an hour. No wonder our city is starting to die.. did u seriously listen to the people who said standing around for 9:50 at each port is somehow StarWarsy?

Droids LOL.

2 thumbs down on this Pub. I swore if I ever canceled my SIX accounts it would be because of travel and that time is coming soon.

To non-scouts, yes. Harvesting is a Scout skill, and it's the ONLY skill Rangers have that's worth anything. What made you think you were going to be handed another prof's base skill?

I assume you won't mind if I get a droid that allows me to do everything your favored prof can do?

*** Droids Rebuilt *** - Scheduled to go live on April 27th Profession: Droid Engineer

Added an Interplanetary Survey Droid - This droid is capable of using survey tools and traveling to other planets to report on the resources present on that planet.

THANK YOU!!!!

As a resource collector since launch, this is a MAJOR thing. Thank you. I hope there will be some kind of HIGH END droid module that lists all the resources stats perhaps?

Added Merchant Barker Module to the DE skill tree: This module allows for the owner to input a short message that is continuously transmitted to nearby players. It also allows him or her to place a waypoint in the droid that is given to any player that requests it via the radial menu on the droid.

Great idea. Thank you. Just please allow us to turn them on or off. And once these are live and working, can we start cracking down on those who do it? Also, can we make sure that these are not just placed outside a competitor's business?

Added Structure Maintenance Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow a player to pay maintenance on structures they own from a remote location.

Wonderful idea. Thank you. So I assume this also allows you view the status of the structure remotely as well..... Right?

It can add power perhaps? With radioactive stored inside a storage module?

Added Auto Droid Repair Module to the DE skill tree: When this module is activated, it sends out a "healing pulse" which repairs every other nearby friendly droid within a 15' radius. The pulse fires every 10 seconds and heals an amount equal to the droid's Auto Repair Power. The more auto-repair modules that are added to a droid, the higher this attribute will be

Very cool. Sounds interesting.

Added Stimpack Dispenser Module to the DE skill tree: This skill allows a player with Pharmacology IV to load up a properly equipped droid with Stimpack A's. Once loaded, any player within the droid master's group may issue a /requestStimpack command to receive healing.

WOW! A use for Stim A's without the loss of reason for a novice medic cert!

Added Musician Playback Module to the DE skill tree: This module allows an entertainer or a musician to record a musical track onto the droid. The droid will then be able to play back the music that was recorded as accompaniment in the player's band. Multiple modules of this type will stack and allow multiple musical tracks to be recorded, although only one track can be played at a time

Can't wait to see what they come up with, great.

Added Entertainer Lighting Effects Module to the DE skill tree: These droid modules can have up to 5 unique lighting effects that can be used by dancers and musicians.

Great.

Added Scout Trap Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any player with the novice scout ability to program and arm a droid with player made scout traps which will then fire when given the command by the player.

Excellent

Added Creature Harvester Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any character with the Novice Scout ability to program and control an equipped droid to advance on the look-at target of the player and harvest the resources on the creature. The player can preset the droid to harvest one of the three types: meat, hide or bone. Or the player can just let the droid pick a random resource type.

So does the droid can a storage area and can store and autocombine 10 to 15 types of resources?

Added Detonation Module to the DE skill tree: This module grants Bounty Hunters and Smugglers the ability to destroy his droid causing damage to every enemy target nearby. The destruction is ordered by the /detonateDroid command or via the droid's radial menu.

How is it determined how much damage the droid does, by it's HAM? Armor piercing?

Displaying remaining battery power when examining a droid pet (Correspondent issue) Increased the effectiveness of combat droids so that they are more effective.

Gameplay

Reduced the wait time on shuttle ports to 5 minutes (Starports are still 10 minutes).

NOOOO!!!!!!!! I was so excited when I first heard starports were only gonna be 5 minute. This sucks.

Although if my droids can check on my harvs and all that... I guess that's ok.

NPC's should now use special attacks in combat again (such as Nightsisters using the Force)

Great.

Fixed a bug commonly referred to as the "armor hole"

GCW

Now players can manually control turret targeting for turrets that protect bases. This will give defenders a much greater chance of success in defending their HQ and make attackers have to be more organized when attacking a base.

THANK YOU!

If this works, I will place and defend my bases again.

Exploit fix: flooding the combat queue while out of combat range will not cause multiple attacks to go off when combat range is entered.

This took WAY too long to fix, but thanks, finally.

Added additional novice player tutorial to improve the initial experiences of a new players to Star Wars Galaxies. Once the current tutorial has finished, new players will have novice profession quests to complete that will make being a new player more fulfilling.

Great, thank you. It was always entertaining to find brand new players thrust out in front of a starport with no idea what to do next.

Iage Designer Tent: The Image Designers are moving into the galaxy! Image Designers now have professional tents in Theed, Moenia, Coronet, Bestine and Vreni Island. Look to see them have additional features for the Image Designer Mini Publish.

Great, hope they get to be involved with smugglers and the GCW as well as customizating avatars.

GUI

Fix HAM bar to reflect increased (buffed) maximum attributes.

Thank you, think this on is already on live if I'm correct. Working pretty well.

Fixed a problem with power of cure dot medicines not being displayed.

Yeah, I'm guessing this is cure dot compared with potency power of DOT.

Profession: Bounty Hunter

If a Bounty Hunter with a Jedi bounty mission is incapacitated by the Jedi, the Jedi loses his Bounty Hunter enemy flag.

Profession: Jedi

Tweak to Jedi Bounty Hunter TEF clearing. There is a 30 second wait before the TEFs are cleared giving the Jedi a moment to perform a deathblow if he/she so desires.

OK, does this system take into account a 100% incap reduction food? Where the BH may immediately get back up? Will the BH still have 30 seconds as well?

Profession: Pistoleer

Fixed problem with dodge; dodge no longer stops Pistoleer from running while in combat (Correspondent Issue)

Great, will make the dodge resist food worth much more.

Profession: Scout Fixed a problem where traps could not be thrown indoors.

Vehicles / Mounts Vehicles will no longer auto-heal when left out and stored after a player has taken a transport to another location.

OK, how about this, when a vehicle is disabled you can trade it to a master artisan who can recycle it.

Allowing any planet to any planet would remove "the feel" of galactic travel... (rough quote from previous post in this thread)

I am curious, what feel is that exactly? Maybe we are playing different games. When I have to find something else to do everytime I hit a 7-10 minute wait it actually RUINS the immersion of the game. Let me be immersed in the game. I really cannot believe that ANYONE feels that waiting for a shuttle is immersive or gives "the feel" of galactic travel. You hear a ship engine and see a ship and then you use your ticket and you magically disapear and reappear a few seconds later on a different planet. How is that immersive and how does waiting 9-10 minutes feel like galactic travel?

Also to those of you who claim we need to wait now so we will want to buy a ship when the space expansion comes out. Have you really thought about this for more than 2 seconds? It stands to reason that anyone who BUYS the expansion will be interested in buying a ship. And they are not going to buy the expansion or a ship because of the starport waits. They are going to buy it so they can have their own ship and fly it around the galaxy shooting other ships.

As for the comments from TH about the direct tickets coming from player smugglers and the waits at starport being determined by who is winning the GCW, does anyone think these are good ideas?

Anyone out there ever have a hard time finding a slicer. Oh you had to go to coronet to find one. Lets see. 5 minutes to Eisley, 9 minutes to coronet, find a smuggler, buy a direct flight ticket from him (oh wait I am only one hop away from yavin now anyway)....

And what the hell does the civil war have to do with the shuttles?

I still do not understand why anyone (devs or players) would not want the shuttle (and starport) timesinks reduced. Is their any rational reasons besides immersion or space expansion because both of those hold no water.

Just one question to those that might read this:

Item storage in droids is currently limited to 10 items. I tested to see if Item modules stacked by building two small modules and indeed they did. so I built a droid with 4 level 6 item storage modules thinking that they would stack too. Indeed they did.. but only on rating. I now have a droid which has a level 48 item storage module that can only store 10 items. This prompted me to look in the CSR section of the holocron where I found the information about droid storage. What I did not find was whether this limit is a bug or intentional

If its a bug - why is there no mention of it being fixed this patch?

If its intentional - why the hell is there no mention of this on the droid module data and why does the overal rating stack? (IE the stacking rating is very misleading)

One last thing to a post prior in the thread:

Quote:

A 10 minute wait from talus to endor wouldnt be an issue, its the 10 minute waits between EACH stop that you have to wait for. Either give us 5 minute star port times OR direct travel to any planet, I don't care what some pansy roleplayer wants, waiting 10 minutes at 3 different starports to get to one place IS NOT IMMERSION.

Dude what PC are you using? I can to Lok-Tattooine-Corellia-(Hometown) in a SINGLE RUN if I start at Nym's just as the shuttle arrives (you can substitute any similar run you like in there) I recommend you ditch your current processor and memory and get at least 1 ghz and upgrade to 512mb ram, oh and get a newer graphics card like a GF3 - its load times that are skinning you NOT the game.. defrag your HD... stop running mp3s in the background .. You know, the usual stuff. And if role players are pansy then you are definately in the wrong game mate.. suggest some more advanced power gamers game for you with instant travel like Diablo2.

Other than that - who cares about shuttle times? - fixing the repair bug - now that was more important that shuttle times and it too 3 patches to do it? (the last patch being you allowed player garages but DIDNT fix the bug.. well at least they will be usefull now)

If there are no plans to remove the wait time everywhere, why not remove the wait time at Coronet (such as it is at Theed)? The gamedescribesit asa major transport hub, so why is there a wait time?

Come November I'll be a father and its hard for me to justify playing this game when I have to spend10 minutes sitting at a starport. I've got so many projects to do around the house that when I can find time to playI don't, and the starport wait time is just the icing on the cake.

5-10 minutes logging on

10-20 minutes waiting for a doc to buff you

up to 10 minutes waiting for a shuttle

At leasthalf an hour goes by and I've moved a total of 80m, killed nothing, spent 10k on buffs and made no money.

Interestingly enoughI play off the vehicle heal "bug" as having my vehicle worked on while I'm enjoying my flight. If necessary add an extra 100cr charge to tickets, but that's just my opinion.

STARport times need to be changed to 5 minutes! In other words, NERF the 10 minute wait please. The public voted and we voted for 5 minute STARport times. Standing around is NOT immersion. It ruins the game. This one change would make this game so much better. Please hear us Devs!!!

I tried to wade thru the development thread on the travel topic to see if there was a similar idea and I did not see it but there are a LOT of posts there Anyway here is one I think is worth putting out there.

Immersion and Short Times You can have the best of both worlds and here is how.

Lets say you are planning a trip to a new starport or a new shuttleport, in this case having the delay builds suspense and excitement at going to the new locale and the delay is appropriate 10 mins for starport and 5 mins for shuttle shoulds good. However, if you have already been to that starport/shuttle location than your travel ticket should contain a "travel instant" option. It is then your choice wait as maybe your with a group and some members have never travelled to that destination or go ahead and not unnecessarily delay your getting into your activities.

This would make it a lot easier for the crafting professions to do custom deliveries.

It would also make travelling more interesting you might chose a known starport and plan an evenings hunt for example to come out at an unknown starport so you add that one to your list of "known starports/shuttles". It seems this could be done similar to the badges that are givin out for POIs.
