Thread: Icons over heads
ok, so Im not going to read through 12 pages of posts ![]()
Great idea.
How about a faction rank indicator icon? I dunno about others but I wishing that there was someway to only sell my composite armor to others who have attained the highest possible rank (which is...??) with the rebels (for me anyway). This way I can tell who is dedicated
Turning it on and off is a must too.
I like the idea of the SL (not others) being able to mark a target. Seems to me it ought to be that way.
I'm lessenthusiastic about the wounded flag idea, though I could be swayed on this.My first reaction was, "Butgrouping already provides you with this benefit..." That encourages people to group up and play together as a team. I would like the wounded flag idea better if it wererestricted tostatic dedicated healing centers - medical centers, hospitals, and (I think) theaters. Ican easilyagree that in those areas, the wounded flag would be beneficial for everyone without taking away from the game.
My perspective isdefinitely not all-encompassing. I have never been part of any action involving more than 20 people at a time -no huge pvp's in my past. Plus, I have not tried playing either a squad leader or a medic, yet (eventually I will). I like theidea of havingthe wounded flag/iconbe toggled in the character's game options. If it gets implemented,we should be able to turn it off ifwe don't want to see it.
That is all, please, please, please, please, fix food, spice, and everything else that has been broken since the begining.

Today one of the programmers decided to add a floating icon over people's heads who were badly wounded (he was playing a medic, and found it useful). This led to a discussion on how a feature like this might work--what filters you'd want, who should be able to see the icons, how you turn them on and off.
it's already a bit cluttered for some of us, above our heads, i mean. one think i would really like to see is the person's rank though, i'd rather see said person's rank when i examine them as opposed to a floating icon though.
Why add clutter to the game?
I am going to assume that this Icon for the wounded will be for non-group members.
An icon over someones head is just another thing for the servers to keep track of and will add to the lag already present.
As for it being hard to tell who in a medical center needs healing. all you have to do is click on the poeple to see thier ham bars and you already have the diagnose ability. use it!
As a rebel looking out over a battle i see an icon over an imp's head. gee, i think i'll attack him.
But wait, if the icons are faction based i would not be able to see the imp's icon...but then i also would not be able to any neutral players icons either.
The only icons that should be added are the ones that covert doctors need to see if the patient is overt or not. That way a doctor will know when s/he gets a TEF. And that would be a faction based icon.

Another suggestion was the ability for a group leader to set an icon over a target (I believe that the squad leaders have already asked for something like this as an ability). Ability for anyone? For SL's only?
Yeah that was me!
I got noticed! (or other people with the same idea)
It's usefull for SL setting the target for the group.
People don't always like screen clutter so turning off the icon by category perhaps ? Have categorys oficon groups: "SL Icons" "Medcial Icons"
But keep the groupings small to not clutter things too much.

How about anumber or symbol over the heads of mobs that corresponds to the con color. There are a lot of color blind people around that have troubles with the color con system and a simple symbol would help them a lot.
things i would like to see.
1. Group AND Personal con light. - Reason. When in a group with AT-STs/Pets etc(three people, two AT-STs, 3 Rancors etc) virtually every monster hasa "green" con light next to it. When running (alone) back and forth to town (to train for example) you have no idea how strong a critter is that spawns right next to you - having both personal and Group con lights would be a great help for this and enable you to make an accurate - fight or flight desision.
2. Distance from NPC. - Doesn't really need to be floating above the head of the NPC. But at the moment when you have a critter called "Ian-Whatsit (a rebel commando who is really good)" the distance meter vanishes. Please either fix the distance so it is always showing in the "Your target" box - or pop it above the critters head.
Thanks.
