Thread: Icons over heads
rather than an icon over an injured player,
why not a mini HAM bar ?
how would you be able to tell the difference between person A with only 1 point of damage, and person B with 999 points of damage.
in other words, at first i was thinking different icons depending on intensity of wounds/damage... then that thought evolved into, just a mini HAM. we already recognize the HAM indicator, so it would fit pretty well with the current system.
I think using a icon is a great idea, but it should be used for anyone who has healing abilies. I am a former master sl and I have found that as squad leader I suffered from severe mind drain even when not fighting and just standing around shouting orders. So maybe the icon would be in better use if anyone who has healing can use it (if they feel like sharing their stims
).

Us SL's need something, anything. Icon's of targets would be great. Especially to call a target. This should also auto-icon on a Volley Fire against a target. It would be nice to target someone before combat begins even. Exchanging words with the enemy in PvP while your SL sets a target icon on one of them.... everyone nodding to themselves, ok, i know where we're going first.
Keep icons only viewable to the group. Enemies or non-grouped players should not be able to view another group's icons.

I want a flag (either over my head or next to my HAM bar) stating whether I am Declared or Convert.
I am constantly back and forth between the two and never remember which is which. I'd like it to be something that sticks out like a sore thumb and on the screen 24/7.
Also - When you select your own character (ctrl+1) it should display your name how everyone else would see it- including (AFK) (HELPER) etc. If you are declared it should show the Faction symbol, if not it should not be visible.
Please add a toggle in options for "always display own character name" - If this does everything stated in the above paragraph, the Convert/Declared flag will be there if you turn this option on and it solves the first issue I have.
Targetting System - Currently this is confusing as hell while in combat.
1. You targetcritter (using tab) - blue box around critter.
2. You attack target - box turns from blue to yellow
3. You hit tab - targets critter in front of you (ish) but is out of the display arc of the screen - attacking critter is still yellow.
4. You hit tab - targets critter you're attacking - box stays yellow.
In this example for 3 & 4 you have no idea whether your target is a critter off screen or the critter you are attacking - because the blue "target" box has vanished.
A resolve for this would be to have it so that when your target is the critter you are attacking box is red and when you have another critter selected (blue box) the critter you're attacking has a yellow (orange) box around it.
I thought of using green, but tou can't use that because that is the mouse-over-hover colour =)
Also, what does the icon DO? There are wounds and damage and BF...Will people have 3 icons and AFK/PA/Title/Name/Faction? My god...
If you really want to help the medical profession send the player a message "Joe Doctor heals you for 1000 damage. He gets NO exp for this action. Tips would be appreciated. Thank you."
Nobody gives a rat's @$$ about docs, I've been tipped maybe 3 times in over 10000 heals because people say "well, you get exp for it so i shouldn't tip." Yeah, okay, on hunts do the combat people give back their mission rewards b/c they are getting XP for kills?
And make a trade window where you can put a rez in one side and cash or an item in the other...
Rather then do icons. Use the group list. Have a setting. And this can be a skill thing to. that would give the option of having the most wounded player (Filter for pets) at the top of list. It would be a lot faster for player to see and would be somthing that we already have there.
As a skill it would be a medic skill that would advance player who are wounded to the top of list in the group. the otherway would be an advanced skill that would filter pets.
Otherwise just have it. Set it with a filter command for pets so we are not always fixing fluffy all the time whil the leader hitswithbigstick falls flat on his wookie face and dies.
Just a thought gang. I need to post here more and less after the patches are don.
See you all on the test server.
