Thread: On Mandalorian Armor
I may be a lone voice in the dark, but I want to ask the Dev team NOT to allow Mandalorian armor to be a player accessable item.
After all the flames subside, here is the reason why: At this time there is one and only one person in the SW universe that has and uses this armor, a major character named Boba Fett. If this item becomes available for PC's, it will demolish a major "feel" of the game, because we all know that every wannabe Boba Fett will be wearing this armor. Even though Boba Fett was only a good BH in the EU (I mean, really, he got beat by a blind man and did next to nothing in ESB), almost every BH PC is going to be sporting a set of this armor.
According to the EU, Boba Fett spends enormous amounts of his credits tracking down the "antique" pieces of his armor, spending major portions of his assets just to keep the old suit up to par. I admit, the armor looks really cool, but once I see every other PC in front of the Coronet Starport sporting a suit, it will no longer be the "unique armor of Boba Fett" and will instead become the badge that shows a person has more credits than individuality.
If a greater mix of armor is what the Dev's are shooting for, why not just do for armor what was done with houses? Would it be too difficult to modify existing armor types with artistic flourishes, so that instead of a composite helmet, we have a composite helmet style one, two, etc?
I get the feeling that, regardless of how quickly it will ruin the "feel" of the game, the Dev's are going to buckle and allow this armor for PC's anyway, but I wouldn't have felt right not speaking out against this travesty. What really galls me is that a Lucas Art's employee is the ring-leader for this march into ruination. Of all people, those whose job it is to guard and protect the Grail should be the ones to see the wrongness of this idea...
why does someone always have to bash an idea, that was the biggest griefing ive ever seen rofl, its a game, and i want my set, and i know alot of p[eople who want some to, if u dont want it dont go get it plain and simple.
The number of suits of Mandalorian Armor in the game should be equal to the number of Jedi on that specific server.
And since this Armor should and will be BH and Commando only, that means every BH and Commando can have a suit with more to spare.
No other class deserves it...
anyone can be a comando
But Bounty Hunter....
Caurga
Master Bounty Hunter
Folks, Jedi are supposed to be the strongest fighters in the game period. The effort it takes to get to Jedi is many times more than it takes to be an MBH. No armor should be strong enough to allow an MBH to last against a Master Jedi. It should take teams of MBHs to take down Jedi. Everything the Devs have said about Jedi up until now has reinforced this point.
Whethe the armor is restricted to BH or not, it should simply not make them strong enough to solo Jedi, period.
BHs are NOT supposed to be the equal of Jedi no matter how badly BHs what that to be the case.
Jedi are also supposed to be rare....OOPS!
If Jedi want to be all powerful, I have no problem with that, just reimplement Permadeath and see which you preffer. If you don't have permadeath, you have no reason to be more powerful then anyone else. Between all the Rifleman/TKA/Fencers here that are pissed because their Uber d00d wont have Mando Armor, and Jedi who want Mando armor to suck because they believe that the Devs have promised them god mode, your wasting this thread.
Mando armor is BH and Commando only. End. It will be good end. Jedi have ruined this game with their hologrinding and b*tching. End.
Have a nice day ![]()
i get what all the bounty hunters are say and even the commandos
but heres my question any way
tkm's are supposed to be a jedis night mare shouldnt they get to wear it too?
mando's were a race of elite fighters are you saying they were only commandos and bounty hunters , i think not
i do agree tho that ony elite masters should wear this armor
when you master an elite proff you should get a cert to wear this armor
id hate to see a novice scout wearing this armor jus cuse he spen 100.00 bucks on ebay and can afford armor
id also hete to see it go to the greedy lil armorsmith like ris i really wanted it im not paying 10 million for a helm it is silliness
Obsidian you are SUCH a hypocrit. You BHs whine ALL the time about how powerful you should be because of how hard it is to become a master, but when confronted with the SAME argument about Jedi you switch arguments. Whether Jedi are rare or not is beside the point. Jedi should be harder to beat than anyone else because they take more work than any other class to master. The holo-grinding and removal of permadeath are not the fault of the players but of SOE who have made a system even they do not like. Blaming the Jedi is simply illogical.
Bounty Hunters=some of the loudest whiners in the game so don't start complaining about all the whining others are doing.

During our recent Dev Chat, we hinted at the fact that Mandalorian Armor will be added to the game via a new dungeon we're working on now. This caused some confusion among some players who thought that Mandalorian Armor was already in the game... Let me clear that up.
Short Answer: Mandalorian Armor has existed since launch, but we haven't given you a way to find it/make it/buy it...
The Long Answer: We've had the Mandalorian Armor assets for some time (since well before launch), but we've always struggled to find a good way to integratethe armorinto the game. Like Jedi, we didn't want Mandalorian Armor to become commonplace - it's supposed to be rare armor worn by an elite crew of mercenaries (who, by this point in the timeline, have been all but wiped out). We knew that bounty hunters would coveta suit of "Boba Fett's armor," andwould feel "cheated" if just anyone could make, buy, or recover Mandalorian armor. So, there was some back and forth before launch about how to best implement the armor, and thebest choice seemed to beby folding it into some kind of dungeon or quest progression. As many of you also know, however, we're sensitive to cutting crafters out of the economy - we didn't want there to be an over-abundance of "uber-loot" itemsthat removethe combatprofessions' dependency on crafters (as the gamehas evolved, we've becomemore open-minded about the types of loot we can drop, but we're still cognizant of the crafters' needs).During the race towards launch and in the weeks that followed, wejust didn't have time to devise a dungeonor series of queststhatcould provide Mandalorian armor in acompelling manner (with a good backstory, which is really important to me, especiallyin this case)*and* remain true to our design goals regarding crafters.
A few months ago,a LucasArts employee who plays the game religiously started a grass-rootscrusade toget Mandalorian armor into the game.I was sympathetic, but we had so much on our plates already. Fortunately, during a review of the dungeon assets in development, we discovered a rundown mine that nobody was sure how to populate. To me, it seemed like the perfect hideout for a gang of mercenaries - and thus, we decided that it would become the lair of the Death Watch, an offshoot of the Mandalorians.I'm not going to give away too many details, butI'm reallyexcited about the directionfor the dungeon and I think it's going to make bothpowerful combat characters and skilled crafters happy...
Stayed tuned in the coming weeks. Before you know it,you'll bebattling your way throughDeath Watch assassins and soldiers in search of one of the most iconic outfits in the Star Wars lore.Just make sure you know a good Armorsmith...

Ok, this is nice and all that u decide to do something you partly did but did not do. But it dissapoints me that u are gonna spend time working on something so silly as armor, when we have professions WAY unbalanced. Also it beffundles me why 1 of you'r people jump up and down and complains about a armor not in game yet, when we have thousands apon thousands of players complaining that there profession does not work, (/cough pistoleer, smuggler) and many more. Yet on the last patch for pistoleer you did nothing to fix our scrapped profession, oh wait , .........u did........ wait, counting putting the certification for a reb blaster in our novice tree for pistoleer does not count as a "fix" and is just crap. I think that if you already had Madalorian Armor already made and pre-game release it is dissapointing that it was never in from the start, and saying u could not find a place to put it in is a lousy escuse. What it is called is lazyness. I think it very dissapointing the dissions you people make.
