Thread: Thoughts on the Warren?

It suxs... here's why.

I went with 2 of my frinds. First we had to search for the guy with the key over a 300m radius. I can see this taking awhile with just one person doing it. It took us 3 minutes. Upon entering nothing attacked. It took us about 3hours to do the whole thing because we kept getting lost separated and whatnot. My pets get stuck and do not respond. The only thing that works is the turret (it blasted me lol). It would be nice if some cyborg pets or something in there was a baby and tameable.

I just don't want to spend 3-4 hours with no action or excitement. To be honest it was kinda boring for me as I am trying to get Master Ch and Master Carbineer. I got little to no exp whatsoever, and upon completion of the warren all I really got was an Imperial Hero badge which I can't see. I didn't know it said helper above my name until someone told me.

I think instead of getting IMP hero I should get -10% faction cost or a +30 faction points gained per mission. I am a WOOK I can't wear armour so unless I want an AT-ST then I won't be doing anymore of these timewasters unless I hear there is some real reward.

Basically this is only worthwhile to players who feel it's guts and glory and they prefer that over credits, loots, prizes, rewards.

i liked it alot. made you think and figure out how to get passed certain areas. HOWEVER, quality assurance team, if such a thign exists, needs to make sure that the place FUNCTIONS correctlt, the bugs that released with this were heinous and almost ruined it for me.

I have really really enjoyed the Warren and hope that more content like this will come out. I have attempeted it on both servers I play on, and have only managed to complete the first badge (compassion) partially due to the bugs(?) of only one person being able to do certain things per day.

Since this is a difficult one to solo, I agree with those who suggested than the group be keyed/flagged/awarded some parts as this is a time conusming puzzle even if you dont die and have to keep running back.

its a concept to build and improve on, and would like to see more.. perhaps with stealth components and puzzles so that those of us who are artisans/entertainers can aquire badges etc with out having to muscle our way through. Adds fun, content and challenges that contribute to the enjoyable diversity of the game.

I liked the idea of it, but it was bugged for me, in a good way I guess. I would only get shot at once or twice and then they would quit attacking, and I could never target any of the baddies. So, I basically ran around and did the story line and left, had to heal myself a few times and that was it.

I joined my sister and a group of friends to take on the Warren over the weekend.

I must say that it was the most fun I have ever had in SWG, in fact I can't remember a MMO dungeon that was this fun since UO.

More please! Yay!

The actual dungeon for "The Warren" was great.

That being said.

You guys missed a real opportunity to give some real depth to The Warren. Sure it was neat, run around, kill some baddies, find somestuff, solve the dungeon, win a badge. (2 actually). IMHO the plot line was too linear. There should've been a few more interactive NPC's. Sub-quests to the main quest. Things that lead the PC's atray slightly. Possibly with added benefit, or increased consiquences. It was just slightly above a Hack'n'Slash adventure.

There should've been more heralding to get to The Warren. There should've been more interplanetary travel. (Imps to Naboo, Rebels to Corelia, or the rebel outpost on Rori.) The key giver shouldn't have been right outside the base.

There should've also been a definate path for rebels and imps alike. I frankly don't appreciate having spent all the time I did completing the thing, only to turn my stuff into an Imperial and get 500 IMP faction that I don't need or want. If there was a rebel contact to hand this stuff in, it wasn't made clear in the plotline.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good quest, it just needed more. Not bad for a first try.

I thought it was pretty sweet. Got two badges, WOOT! I had to have the walkthrough to get through it though and you better have a big group or a lot of tough pets to make it through there. First time I went in, somebody had cleared the front part out. The second time I went in I got ganked by like 12 Cyborg Hurtons! Was kind of neat though. MUCH better than the standard go here and run there, shoot guy, come back quests. You guys should think about getting actors to play some of the characters though. That was one thing that was really sweet about UO. When they would have real people play like Lord British or his guards or things like that. Get somebody to play Darth Vader!

My PA did the warren last weekend. We only managed to get the Compassion badge. Overall it was great. However, I feel there are many drawbacks. Here are my constructive ideas for your consideration.

  • Many players including myself got so lost - after getting the badge we could not find other members or the exit. The maps were good, but need to be color coded for the different levels

  • This is NOT possible to do solo. I just started playing a few weeks ago and couldn't do this by myself.

  • It is very crowded and we lost people on the elevators - if it is not possible to go up because I'm on the highest level DO NOT provide that option.

  • Everything reset before all members of the group could complete it.

  • Make it so that if a group is completing it; only 1 person needs to get each objective for the group. We ended up combining our Imperial Group with a Rebel Group because it was so difficult.

After being lost for over an hour unable to locate other members of my group. I finally found someone told them to duel me and kill me. That way I didn't have to find the exit and I got the express route back to where I cloned. Nothing should be so difficult that it frustrates a person to tears - or wanting to beat the computer up for lack of anything else to do.

It was pretty fun, but I completed it in a few hours. Felt kinda bad about that too because I know a lot of people had to put in a lot of time to get it ready.

First time i went to the warren, i wasnt buffed BUT with a group. That time i was so impressed with the horror type resident evil( Can i say that games name here? =-P) feel to it. Then i died, 15 cyborgs killed us it was ^#%@#ing great!

2nd time i was buffed and soloed it and dred the day i have to go back. Anyway besides driveing you to the brink of insanity because its alabrynth and pops are more annoying then deadly when buffed it kicked.

I haven't been there yet. I am a wierd type of player. I never know what Iw ant to do. Maybe a Starwarsy solo mission-like thing be good for a stressed out Architect who crafts all day... i am going to do the Warren ASAP. So far the most interestign thing I have seen in SWG was the place where the tutorial was. That was cool!
