My opinion, make it so you can declare Overt anywhere, anytime. To become Covert you have to go back to the recruiter and wait an hour. There is no reason that I should have to be within 50m to put on my uniform or flash my military ID and fight for my ideals.

That would let you move in armies of safe people to the location of a fight, and have them all go overt at once and ambush...

hrrrmmmmm.....Holocron, don't take this the wrong way, but have you watched any SW movies or read any of the EU books? This was done all the time, rebels even disguised themselves as Imperial and vice versa for sneak attacks. There is absolutely nothing wrong with strolling up in the middle of an enemy hot spot like an innocent passer-by before fighting them. Rebels were always blending in with the populus when staging COVERT attacks. Covert-ops was all a part of the SW universe. So why can't we make it a part of SWG? Plus, you could do away with the revenge TEF in favor of being able to declare at will. I think this would make many more customers happier than you might think.

I haven't read the entire thread, but one way I would like to seeto goovert would be to purchase something like an overt ticket from the recruiter. You can use this ticket anywhere, anytime, with a delay to overt status or TEF status for a short amount of time. Make the ticket (you can call it credentials or something if you like) very expensive. Something like 5000-10000 faction points ought to curb rampant use. This way people will be conservative with them, but have the option if they like.

Note: I stopped reading at page 3. This may be a repeat.

Why not give Squad Leaders the ability to do a group overt command? In my opinion, they lack content as it is... Who would waste the skill points just to be able to "Retreat"? I don't know who designed it, but there is little in the Squad Leader tree that interests me, but If they put in a Group Over command or something, and put it in a fifth teir such as "Factional Combat", or possibly add faction based skills trees (Now there is an idea in itself...) where content is opened as you gain rank, and at some point you can do a self-overt thing... And later at a higher skill you can do a group-overt thing. Eh... I just think there should be some faction based skills trees that you can use you points for. Not just useless rank and pets.

My 2 cents.

PS: Personally, I think you should be able to go overt whenever you want, but then you are over untill you talk to someone who can put you back at covert status. This will lead to griefing, but what do you call the TEF system???

PSS: Fix the game before adding this... I ran into fewer bugs in Beta 2.

I just as many haven't read through all the responses but many of them.

I definetly think the being able to declare overt is a step forward and would be very hepful.

As for declaring overt anywhere I think that is going a little too far without certain balances. I dothink the ability to declare overt with a ranking, Already overt, Playerwould be a good Idea but it would need more balance. Such as making it required to bea high level squad leader skill with a 20-60 sec timer between using the skill to declare a person overt after their request. I also thinkthe only way to become covert once you are overt should be either by dying (in which case you would be unable to go overt for 1 hour) or by a image designer would could change you from overt to covert with a20-60 sec timer as welland only durning non combat. This would eliminate spawn camping and enable to players to still change there overt status without giving turning a group of coverts into a group of overts in a matter of seconds and make it a little less like to go overt just on a whim because you would have to track down an image designer if you wanted to discontinue your overt lifestyle.

I find the current system too confusing, if you are revising it, keep it simple.

If you want to join the GCW you can type /declareOvert anytime, anywhere. A local system message will be broadcast letting those in the area know you are about to become overt. Set a timer of 10 seconds, just enough time for people to flee or get ready for a possible fight.

When you die you become covert and must remain covert for 15 minutes. This will eliminate the clone wars and will keep defenders from having a huge advantage.

You can take yourself out of the war by typing /declareCovert anytime, anywhere. You will have to wait15 minutes for this to take effect. This will eliminate people frequently flipping back and forth.

No TEF's, you are either covert or overt. No fighting factional NPC's unless you first become overt.

Holo even simpler.

ALLOW FACTION POSESSION OF CITY CLONING FACILITIES.

Deny the right for a covert or overt member of the faction not in control to even use the respawn facility.

Make some sort of hackable terminal sequence that allows changeover.

Thus you create an attrition fight. The side not in posession of the cloning center must convert it before they are wiped out. you also create an objective for the attacking force.

Of course thats the way it is right now. One guy is overt, 19 are covert in the same group. The one guy gets attacked then the entire group can attack. All 19 can enter town first then the overt guy enters. This happens every day. Is this a problem?

WOW....2 days and already 12 pages of discussions. Well I didn't ready them all and I doubt if the devs make it this far. However, if I'm repeating a suggestion, then my apologies. Devs if you make it this far than I hope it was worth it.

SUGGESTION: Have 3 recruiters per city plus the 50m rule.Spread them out in different locations but make them still within city limits. This would make camping a much more difficult buthopefully this combined with the 50m rule would change it up enough to make declaring during a raid a viable option.

Keep the 50m rule- and let Master Squad leaders build a Field Outpost outside of a town (same ranges as camps) that when he + another covert group member is in it, they can click on a terminal and go overt. The SL must be overt to even build it. Wont be close enough to a cloning center to make it a big mess, the SL can move it as he pleases and relay the coords to the group. It will give the other sidea target to kill (The squad leader) and make the PvP system actually very fun.

I see NO problems with this idea, and if its implemented I want a golden ticket for Wonka's Factory.

Why not be able to delare overt ANYWHERE... I mean honestly, it's beyond inconvenient let alone makes no sense whatsoever to not be able to.... You can still leave a timer on going covert again, and the only thing you have to deal with having people able to declare overt anywhere is abush attacks, but really with the fubar tef system in effect now people are used to that anyways.... it would go both ways, would require people to be a little more careful being overt in some aspects... and most of all, it would be convenient and enjoyable for the players... but don't do it because it's better for the players....

If everyone wants to be able to go overt anywhere anytime then there should be a huge counter balance which I think should be something like only high level image designers can alter the aspects of a player to make them become covert once again. Death should not make them covert because regardless of whether you are killed or not everyone in the universe knows of cloning and will continue to watch for another appearance. Then make overt cloning only available at imperial or rebel outposts so that they must be limited to those stations for cloning so as to prevent just respawning and make it more detremental to die on a far away planet. If you want to be realistic then yes you should be able to "flash your badge" or what not and come out guns blazing but once the imperials or rebelsknow you are rebel they shouldn't "magically forget" when you decide you want to be covert again. Personally I prefer the method I mentioned early but ifeveryone wants instant overt at will there should be larger consequences.

I've not read many of the replies but I do like the idea of high faction rank players being able to recruit. To cut down on having hordes of coverts immediately becoming overt you could limit this to the recuirements that

a) Must be overt to recruit.

b) Must be in the group to be recruited.

c) Can't recruit while incapped.

d) Can only make overt, not covert.

This gives rank some meaning, makes it so that the whole force can't sneak up overt and gives the opposing faction some warning. If they can incap the officer before too many others declare then the opposition may still have the numbers. You could then scrap TEFs to encourage more people to achieve rank.
