Thread: Jedi Revamp Phase I
And one more time just for effect.
NO FORCED PvP!!!!!! Please. At any point in the jedi progression. Do not force me to PvP. Why have a game in which every other aspect allows you to choose PvP or not and then force it on players in just one aspect.
PvP is not the game here! SWG is the game.
"Forcing Jedi to pvp in order to level is also totally unacceptable"
Really? It's actually one of the better thing I've read. In case you havent heard, there is a Galactic Civil War going on and the Jedi are supposed to be a big part of that. Forcing them to partake in it does three things.... increases their visibility to the community, spices up the Civil War, and makes their existence a dangerous one.
These are all good things.
Right now we have Jedi hiding out in the far corners of remote planets, leveling up to a point where they are almost unstoppable and then showing up to take out 30 players in PVP because they have absolutely no fear of dying, and no real penalty if they do die.
"PvP is not the game here! SWG is the game."
Exactly. And in Star Wars, Jedi are directly a part of the Civil War. Thus....... PVP. Unless or until the devs roll out a meaningful way to partake in the Civil War without PvP (not likely)
No one said you HAVE to be a Jedi.

Advancing down the path of Jedi will start with basic force sensitivity which will be open to all players to create a sense of the force.
?? Does this mean. Everyone will have two slots per server as well? And be FS? creating thousands of Jedi running around? Still kind of confused about this.
Successful Jedi Knights will have the opportunity for two slots (in the current design), but it will be difficult to attain.

well, so far it's looking good, but we need more information on how this will affect current jedi before we can put our views in.
Some translation to the new system will be part of the process and current Jedi will not lose their second slot.

They get to play through the new quest system in Publish 10.
TH
these are not the asnwers we're looking for.
Successful Jedi Knoghts have the oppurtunity for two slots? I am not understanding what you mean by that.
Are you saying... upon unlocking FS, we will NOT get a second slot and at that time choose which character slot to continue our path on?
I for one, have no interest in making my Main Character FS... sonce the way it worked since before launch was clearly stated that the character you use to unlock FS, is NOT the character that will achieve it, I planned accordingly.
Regardless,
After playing this game at launch and realising how much I enjoyed it... I figured myself as a "Lifer".
I figured there was nothing in the foreseeable future of this game that would make me ever quit.
If the Developers pull this rug out from under me... then they have written me out.
It bothers me enough already that I have had to resort to being a power-gaming fiend to attempt unlocking FS (which is completely against my playing nature).
If through all these efforts, they wipe away the goal I had set out for (eliminating the second slot FS character) and do not reward me for my holo-grinding (we "get to" start the quests from the beginning), and even the fact that they'll change the system so that all the quicker power gamers got there before us slower, immersive, somewhat-more-casual gamers are left behind in the dust only to have to search for the new mysterious way to get started again...

LOL.. what does this mean?

Successful Jedi knights will have the opportunity for two slots, but will be hard to attain.
Hologrinders get to do the quest system..... DOESNT EVERYONE GET TO DO THE QUEST SYSTEM????????????? HOW AM I REWARDED?
What do you mean by translation? Skill points get converted? Do Jedi Knights get 300 skill points? I mean a 4,4,4,4 guardian doesnt have much room to play with? How will this be converted over?
Whatever...

It's a dumb idea because for as many players that like PvP there are again as many that detest it. Jedi status is the game's reward and end-game, not that of a select slice of the playerbase. A 25% slice, for that is the proportion of factioned players across all servers. I don't doubt many Jedi will choose to PvP and it should be one of many means of advancing, but not the only one.
Do you think the Devs or the community as a whole envisioned Jedi as crafters or Information gatherers? Come on dude, that is such a horrible reach.
Mowen: I have never, not once, outside of an internal guild event, participated in PvP - so now you know where I stand on Player vs Player Mowen. But it is just silly to suggest that a Jedi should not partake in the most active and visible component of the Civil War. Like it or not, if you are a Jedi you should be subjected to active player hunts, like in Star Wars.... ya know? The fantasy univers this game is based on? Imperials are supposed to be hunting down Jedi. Right now this means PVP.
And there is no "end game" to a Massive Online Roleplaying games.... jeesh. Some of us dont even want to be Jedi, let alone consider it the ultimate "reward". Apparently you do though.... so I guess that explains why you want it be a cake walk.

Jedi are already hunted, and that's as it should remain. My objection was to forced Jedi vs Jedi PvP in order to level, which you perhaps may have noted had you actually read my post before setting your overly eager hands to keyboard, for they unofortunately preceeded any effort of your brain. As for end-games and rewards, clearly you have your own opinions which you seek to inflict upon everyone else. If you have no interest in Jedi, why are you even bothering to post?
Attikus,
You are right. Jedi should and will be hunted. Hunting Jedi does not mean PvP because the second P is player. Jedi should be hunted by NPCs at least if they want to PvE but also players if they choose to PvP. Hunting characters does not equte to PvP. It does equate to a lot of combat.
