Thread: Friday Feature Errata: PvP Insurance Yes, 1% decay, not gone.

I am to say the least completely STUNNED by this "little" adjustment.

PvP decay of items is litterally crippling the GCW and PvP, it is one of the hottest items by far and when we were told it was going away we to say the least all breathed a sigh of relief.

This sudden reversal is simply horrible...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Little Things: The little things matter as much as the big things. There were many sound upgrades, improvements to the graphic user-interface and even a few minor activities for players to find. Many POI's and places where NPC's interact with each other (or NPC theaters). One of the "biggest little" things with this publish will be the removal of "insurance" from the death penalty in Player versus Player combat. Players will no longer have to insure their items after each death in PVP .

RIght here your saying the system can Tell I died in PvP and as a result I do not have to re-insure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason is because there is no way to tell the difference between a "PvP Death" and a "PvE Death". I will continue to try and get the development team to remove the 1% decay with insurance. (Any good ideas from you folks for an alternative might help).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here your saying that the reason we cannot have Decay removed from PvP because you have no way to tell the difference between a PvP and PvE death.

SImply put your own statements contridict each other, in the first the system can tell it is a PvP death so I will not have to reinsure, yet in the second statement you say removing decay can't happen becase the system cannot tell. Basically I am at a loss for words.

My First Suggestion TH would be use how ever the game can tell I died in PvP so I do not have to reinsure which IS going in, well use that exact same system but flag the items not to decay instead.

Alternative Solution: Have the game track if I lose faction points when I die, IF I do, then no decay of items as a result of cloning from that death.

I die, I lose faction points, Game then flags my account not to decay items, I clone with no item decay.

The ONLY way a player dies and loses faction points is a result of dying in PvP. Now obviously this does not catch a triple incap or death by pet, but it is a heck of alot better then putting nothing in.

Last Alternative suggestion, pull Item decay completely out until you guys can fix it. We had zer death penalty for a long time, pulling it out for a month will not hurt much, but this excessive Decay of items PvP players suffer punishes us for playing the game and trying to be involved in a GCW that has no focus or point on its own.

As far as GCW fixes and features go... nothing was more imporatnt then fixing Covert base shut downs and removing Item Decay from PvP... This publish just lost over 50% of its usefulness for the GCW PvP crowd.... the new content and features are "cool", but not what was needed.

Ending Item Decay was what was needed.

This is Bullcrap. I been running around for weeks naked finally thinking the DEVS smartened up.. Because of the DARN holocrons ther is no Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths as it is on syclla. Well there are but not enough to support the Population. I mean I have seen master BH's running around in Bone armor... Why because these people made there millions and got out of the business. The holocrons made this happen..

You people really have no clue what you are doing!!! You folks at SOE should be ashamed of your selves for lieing to your customers daily!!!

Why is removing 1% decay so hard to do? Just change the variable from "1" to "0" or put it back the way it was before decay was introduced. I wouldn't have a problem with decay if it wasn't so friggin hard to find decent armor. Problem is, so many armorsmiths are quitting because frankly, crafting armor is boring as hell.

The biggest obstacle to that is if nothing decays then Tailors and Weaponsmiths don't get repeat business...and we need to love them too.

Knock Knock, helllooooooo!!! Weapons don't decay on death anyway -- they only decay from use. Armor decays from use too, so why do we need death decay. Clothing, well, who the heck cares about clothing anyway. You can make ifdecay 1% per day for all I care.

Architect structures don't ever decay, but it seems Architects have no problem selling stuff.

Her's a thought, take out decay completely. The very vocal minoroty were the only ones who wanted it to begin with. Stop penalizing the player base.

How about this as an alternative as a possibility ??

IF I am Overt (PvP active) and I die, I suffer no item decay.

Obviously the system can tell when I am Overt, WHile Overt I am at risk 100% of the time, so the story would be the Rebellion or Empire compensate me by preventing Decay for valiantly serving proudly and declared.

Lets make the type of death not matter, the only people who go Overt are the PvP fighters, lets make it a perk for accepting the risks, no item Decay.

This will 1 encourage more Overt players, which means a more active GCW and targets and prevents decay from PvP death WHILE not allowing the covert group TEF abusers to have an advantage of no decay.

Heck make it a conversation option to spend 10 FP while declaring Overt for factional Insurance, while Overt Dying means I suffer no Decay?

I am begging here, we need something.... The report of Item Decay alone had revitalized interest in the GCW and PvP... this thread has hurt us.. BAD real bad.

Come to think of it, why not just have 1% decay per day on all items that you equip. In other words, Any item you have equipped when you log in for the first time in a given day will decay 1%. If you equip an item after logging in, it will decay 1%, but only once per day. If you log off with the items equipped, they continue to decay 1% for each day, regardless of whether you log in or not.

Make harvesters permanently decay 1% for each day they are placed or each time they are redeeded. Then cut down on the resource requirements a bit so architects can keep up with demand without going crazy harvesting/buying resources

This way, items will last for about 3 months, give or take 1-3 monthsdepending on use and abuse, and success of repairs. It won't penalize active participation in combat, and it will affect items that don't currently decay for any reason, like structures.

Holy frickin smokes. Either you don't know anything about the game or you are up and mis-speaking again. Weapons don't have death decay...so what does this have to do with keeping Weaponsmiths in business? Why do lightsabers decay...to keep Jedi in business? We are not stupid. If you are going to cook up excuses you are gonna have to spin things better than this if you expect to be believed.

So why not do the SANE and REASONABLE thing and remove decay COMPLETELY if you insure?

Simple??? Thought so.

Currently, the weapons do not decay as a result of death. Did you mean Armorsmith?

I did Tanks. Thanks. (The Cedar pollen season is killin me...)

Take some medicine and get some rest. THEN give us an answer as to how this helps the Tailor Community. I just do not see it. If you can still wear clothes that are fully decayed, HOW does this help us? Why can they not implement use based decay on clothing if it can be done for armor? Please quit leaving this part out of the answers. Please.
