Haden, thanks for posting.
Now I am counting on you folks to make JTL awesome. Cause if I'm dissapointed in the game, I'm gone and so will a lot of players if it's a downer.
We're counting on you. Don't let us down again.
Uhm, if yer 'pectin' JTL to have the feel of Privateer or Elite (livin' the life of a smuggler, space trader, or pirate), then 'pect to be disappointed.
If yer 'pectin' JTL to be purely fer combat in space, then ye should be satisfied.
If ye 'pectin' that eventually JTL will have the feel of livin' the true life of a space smuggler.... ye'll need to wait fer more than a year.
Q: "So when will Smugglers be able to do some gun running in space? Or doing the Kessel spice run?"
A: "We know this is a hot topic and we really want to see this happen as it will be bring additional exciting content. We are really excited about this and should have it ready in a couple of weeks"

I'm one of the mostly happy players, I'm a carpenter and know that to build something it takes blood, sweat, and tears to see it thur to completion. While I am disappointed that the combat revamp has been pushed back yet again I'd rather you took the extra time to see that it's done right. I started playing in Aug 03 and have eageraly awaited every new publish, mini publish, and story arc (I hope these will return). I took a 2 month leave to move in RL and couldn't wait to get back in and check out all the changes that went in whileI was away. JTL is comeing soon and space will be the iceing on the cake. I remeber when I fisrt started playing the chat system was fubar to say the least. The game has come a long way over the last year and it continues to improve step by step.
The one thing I'd like to see is more advanced notice of whats to be expected in future publishes. What are the things that you all are working on? The in concept and development fourms lack any kind of structure, its a free for all with no feed back from any red names. How are we to know that we're being heard when noone answers or comments on any of the ideas that are posted? I love this game and part of the reason I moved in RL was to go to school for back end game design, specifficly to build and work on MMO's. With the existing track record I will be holding off on buying JTL because if its anything like the existing game it'll be pushed out half-baked and we'll be waiting not only for the combat balance/revamp/fix/whateveryouwannacallit and GCW revamp, but for fixes to a broken half working expansion.
Oh and how can I get my annaversiary gift? It wasn't in my inventory even tho I had room and CS basicly says I'm SoL.
I hear what you are saying and i except sometimes time is needed to do a job properly. But heres a thought for you..
If you took a year to fix/build someone a bookcase do you think they will wait a year for it? Or have the remotest bit of interest in still wanting the bookcase?
Not trying to flame you just thought it a good example![]()

If you were realy sorry about the revamps not getting on BEFORE JTL, you would not have devoted 2 publishes to the Jedi system.
What is more importent to you ? The gew whinning kids who don't like to be beat with there gomode playing thingies or the rest of the community that is screaming for a revamp ?
As it seems now, you are realy more concernt about the liitle group of players that are killing the game and call them master Jedi.

Everyone agrees that holo-grinding was a game-breaker. It was ruining the game, and the effects of it are still being felt with empty vendors, a non-existant gcw, etc.
The devs stated that from a certain point, when they fixed something, they wanted to really make sure it was fixed. Fixing game breaking behavior with 2 publishes will hopefully turn out to be the right decision, as long as they get it right.
If they had simply taken holo-grinding away without giving those that are working toward playing as a jedi to go on, there would have been just as much complaining. It was something that needed to be fixed and I for one am glad that they are taking the time to make sure it is done properly.
Once it is fixed, additionally, jedi can be looked at in terms of numbers and relation to other professions in the combat revamp.
It makes sense to do it this way.
So it makes sense to you that the most of the players that play the game, get no attention to their needs and just a small amount of players gett it ???
Well sorry buddy, but that is realy a dumb way to think.
What is the need of the few compared to the many ?
But let me guess YOU have a Jedi.

Having been a software engineer for 10 years I can truly understand the delay of the combat revamp. While I am as disappointed as anyone, I'd like to see it done properly and not rushed to live. I wish more people understood that sometimes in software development, you don't have the luxury of simply "fixing" random features as you see fit. Sometimes features are built on top of other features or with the assumption that certain conditions in the environment are static. Oftentimes when trying to "fix" something, you can get yourself into a heap of trouble by breaking other things in the process. I would imagine in a game as complex as Galaxies that this fact is amplified. There are other times that you may think you can make a change easily, and even promise that change to the end-users, then upon further investigation it becomes clear that you are going to affect other things and it'll take longer. Then comes the outrage and disappointment. I believe the devs on this game have done a good job so far. I am willing to bet they are probably more critical of themselves than anyone on this board will ever be.
I'm excited to play JTL and at this point, frankly I NEED it to maintain interest in the game until changes are made. I love this game, and I really want it to be Star Wars. Unfortunately in the current game state, the things I want to do in the game -- PvP/GCW -- are so broken that it's not even worth making the attempt. I am not someone that enjoys grinding night after night or crafting dresses, so for me this game simply lacks content right now. The dungeons are cool, however having to seek out various buffs/foods/etc and finding a group large enough to tackle them is not something that comes together very often. I work fulltime and just don't have the hours in the day. I want to be able to logand start fighting ASAP. Is this something that is a consideration for the combat revamp? I think most people that want to PvP would agree that having to spend an hour or two preparing isn't very fun. If ridiculous buffs are to remain part of the game, can we buy them in crates and apply them ourselves then? Anything to make combat more readily accessible would be HUGELY appreciated. I am not trying to obtain a quick fix ala BF Vietnam or other games like that, but I do think there is room for much improvement.
You have a good point. However as someone who has been a tester for 7 years what I find inexcusable is that the project managers are promising what they can't deliver. That is my issue. They published a schedule, they made a commitment, they need to stick to it. As someone in the software industry you understand that you can't expect to make commitments and then not deliver right? What would your boss do if you weren't delivering on your commitments for a year? What would the other stakeholders in your project do?
