Thread: Icons over heads
Great idea. All medical professions should have option turning on icon. So basically if you have novice medic you can use it. No other profession needs it so it's not neccassary for them. Just make it a switch like /woundediconoff and /woundediconon. Would this be for someone who is wounded at all, meaning they have wounds, or just down to less then half or something? Or is it for damage? Only having novice medic to heal in field/combat I don't know what would be more useful. It seems for in hospital, it would be more useful to have it show those with actual wounds, but if in the field with group it seems more useful to have it for those with damage.
As for the mark target idea, that is great and I have always liked that idea. As much as I would love to be able to use it all the time, I'm a Ranger, I think it should be SL only. IMO
I Love to see the following icons
SOS! = Need Help!
Soloing or x = I'm Soloing and don't want help killing NPCs
Cooperative orJ = I'm Soloing and you are welcome tohelp me
Same Idea but different application: Allow squad leader to choose a main tank or main assist. and the current target of that person would have an icon over it....
basically you can see wich mob to attack next by the main assist's "cursur" showing over the mob
i didn't feel like reading all 9 pages, so i dont know if this has been mentioned (this is easily coded)
have an icon above someone's head. if they're injured the only people who will see this is:
People with no faction affiliation, or members of your own faction who have medic ability.
this way you wont be griefed.
as far as groups, have a big L (not loser) over the leaders head to only the members in their group.
easy enough. helps the group/person, without painting a big red bullseye on their back
Lol haha,
Sorry it is a good idea for what it is, the squad leader having a becon over his head to identifie him, sounds good,
The only critizm I would have and to why I was joking, as I was getting everyone together last night to go on a raid, I said to a friend how much this all feels like being a Tourist guide, We only missing a becon or a flashing stick, or we Big flashing stick bandaner to get ppls attention like they do in China,
Have you ever seen them....
No I feel if the Squad leaders have the becons you should change the name to Tour guide,
As for the medic this would be a good Idea make appear only to the medic or people will take advantage out of this.
thank you.
why bother? i have the /diagnose command. also if the Wounded PC has that many wounds he can /tell me or /tip me up front. that'll get my attention. also there is a symbol already for a person with heavy wounds, it is a little man with waves off his back. (haha)
If you have devs/programmers wasting time like this, how is D.E. ever going to be fixed?
Redskull Lobobo, DE, Novice Medic (until the Surgical Droid can mend wounds at any level)
havent read all of the posts, so dont know if this has been mentioned yet.
i think medics should have the ability to toggle an icon that indicates damaged or wounded players within x meters -or- obtain certain icons when acquiringcertainskills that they can toggle over their own heads for all players to see (most useful when in combat with many other pc's around, e.g. at fort tusken, you quiclynote who can resus you, who can used ranged heals, etc.)
squad leaders should have more skills that are specific to organizing and leading a group, giving the group leader a really significant inportance in this game and bringing more strategy into team combat. a squad leader (and only a squad leader) should be able to organize the group into teams (red team, blue team, etc) that would be visible in the status bar of each player in the group (could be the background color or a block of color that precedes each players name). then, depending on the SL's skills, he/she could give team specific boosts (reduce the number of group wide SL enhances) to ham, specific combat abilities, etc., that last a short time. this would give the SL the ability to bring anew flexibiltyto tactical combat when in groups.
one example of many possible situations:
group of4 players (SL, BH, CH (w/ 2 pets), & Artisan). the SL creates 3 teams:
red team: SL, BH, Artisan
blue team: CH'stwo pets
green team: CH
the group enters combat, the SL uses his skills to give red team +5 on accuracy and +5 ranged damage; blue team +10 on melee defense; green team +5 on healing damage and +5 on healing speed (making the CH anon the flymedic (assuming the CH has some novice medic skills) in the absence of a combat medic.
this kind ofmodification would make an experienced SLtruly covetedin dangerous situation, since their involvement directly influences how a group operates and performs in combat.
Icons?
Squad Leader: should be able to make a choosen enemy target glow red like a waypoint... should be a command /assistsquad or whatever for groups to target that selection. People who "take cover" should be un-flaggable by SL.
Medics: /diagnose is per target why not throw a /diagnoseall to perform a radius effect on faction aligned / grouped people within a radius to float a rotating cross icon based on health [black - red - white - green - blue] Perhaps people(& squad leaders?) can do a /medic command to float an icon themselves to the medic if they need attention. Similar to calling "Medic" in the field.

TAB:
A scroll key that works for Grouped Members. Scrap the icon idea unlessyou feal like the SL needs to be able to tag someone. But as far as medics go, simple group scrolling would be just great.
How about being able to select an option that would not display you as badly wounded. This would help in pvp. Also, I hate going into a med center to heal myself only to be healed by someone else and having to give a sometimes big tip when I didn't need their help in the first place. As a part-time medic, I wouldn't want to have icons above everyone's head sucking up my frame rate, so I would like the ability to turn that off.
First, I don't think this should be an abilityfor a novice medic to have. Like mask scent, you should have to progress so far in a certain skillcolumn.I really like the idea of using a color coding system, like the con system. Perhaps, though, when first being able to use this skill, you would only see a generic icon. As you progress further in the skill column that granted the icon you would be able to see colors. Actually, maybe even master medics should see the generic icon. Allow doctors to see a color coding. Now that I like!
Keep the setting a target skill exclusive to squad leader. It's a convenience non-sl can definitely live without.
