Thread: Icons over heads
Faction-only 'damaged' icons, neutral can see all.
Special icons for bleeds (aid needed).
LFG icon. (useful for when the last guy shows up to Random Dungeon #467 and wants to join up)
"I'm selling stuff" icon. Not quite the EQ Bazaar, but would definitely make hanging out near the bank more profitable. Possible mouse-over indicating what it is I'm attempting to sell (weapons, armor, etc)
And of course, let all of this be individually filterable.
Maybe my point of view is now too late. But i think than if you put an icon over fallen players, would be helpfull for medics and theyselves...
But i can not think that it woulbe be visible just for medics, giving prerrogatives to the system that the icon just appears for "x" players would take a lot of time to develop as "Space expansion"... difficult to do it.
And, it has bad points: if it is possible to watch that icon for everybody, the incap. players will be easy targets to the enemies and for being DB... and others would reclaim that it affect the "inmersion" of the game...
Just my two cent's, and forgive me for my bad english

I don't know if my suggestion would ever be read, there are so many posts already. In fact if it has been said already I apologize, no harm intended.
I would suggest Medics of any kind, use their skills in the Diagnostics tree to flag someone to their eyes only.
Would work like this, medic highlights someone, and issues a /diagnose command. The medic ONLY now sees an icon over the targets head (or colored name, etc) for whatever time period is fair (maybe a max number of targets based on skill level too).
Doctors, and even more specifically combat medics are the onesthat really should be able to diagnose with accuracy a persons condition at such a quick effortlessglance. If someone wants to see more, highlight them and look at their healthbars like usual becauseit should take a non-medic more effort.
This will give medics more reasons for the diagnose skill, more control of the situation, and even in PvP give them a role as spotters to diagnosethe enemy at a glance andpoint out weak targets. This way the guy with the biggest gun isn't the one seeing the weak people right away.
Hope that made sense, hehe.. good topic though and great suggestions (those I had time to read)
Aren't there bigger issues to be dealt with...
I mean seriously, the game is flawed in so many other places; this will just add more work for yourselves when this doesn't work either.
Please just fix the bugs that are at hand, and add new content accordingly.
My vote goes for RP going over people's heads who select it.

If your still reading past page 10....
I purpose instead of have faction titles like everyone insists. The symbols above or next to a players name may signify a rank in the format of medals and stars. This way player titles and ranks can be shown.
Its the little ideas that count ![]()
I have not read through all of these so this is probably said before, but just in case:
Wouldn't these icons simply make it easier for others to know who to kill quickly?

Potential downside, it allows enemies to pick out the badly hurt people to target in pvp.
I dont see this as a downside. technically you shold be able to see a wounded person anyway. there are risks to declareing in the first place. I like this idea. picking out wounded people is good tactics not a greifer tool cause YOU have to be declared so your choosing to be in that position.

No vote on icons. This is a roleplaying game(shocking but sometimes true). I would say yes to this IF there was some ingame RP way that this could happen. Perhaps somekind of special equipment like bio-meters, that players could choose to wear, or not. The medic would need some kind of special HUD to see this info.
In general, added icons or other stuff over players is too much information and breaks immursion for me. It is bad enough just seeing name(title) all the time. If it can be done with special equipment, cool. otherwise as a general game system thing, no way.
