Thread: Thoughts on the Warren?
Holo:
I spent the past three nights in the warren. Was booted from the game three times. Was booted from the cavern to the outside twice. Spent cumulative hrs waiting for objects to spawn. Killed at least 10 times. When I contacted admin about the boots they said SRY and proceeded to admonish me for not using the bug reporter( didnt know it was a bug at the time). My overall impression of the warren is not good. I would not recommend it until all the bugs are fixed and the player gets a square deal. Would recommend an announcement on the opening page when the warren is fixed. By the way, Ionly needed the last disk and was booted waiting for a rod to respawn(20 min wait).
I thought the Warren was very nice. For the non-BH, CH, or Commando, it can still be a challenge, but me and a few guild friends had a great time exploring the facility. It WASN'T fun walking out of a room, then walking back in seconds later to see about 15 of those Hourrtons! heh
Still, I thought the challenge was good for all levels, and the amount of different things you must collect defineatly posed this as an adventure. Good work devs! Now, fix my guildchat! ![]()
I have been running around outside the Warren on Bria Galaxyfor 2 hrs looking for the escapee. Apparently the escapee has left the area. I persuaded a ranger with track to come and check and yep no escapee.
Hope this i just a temporary setback.

I really love it. It's the best thing I've done in game so far.
I have been through it several times. I love the layout, the mazelike feel. I think you did a wonderful job. I have spent days there. At least once a day I take groups of people through it to complete it.
Some suggestions:
Mobs:
Adjust hate on mobs in there. You can drag mobs to other mobs and they will assist you or stop and fight each other rather than fighting you.
The altered AT-STs need to stay in their rooms, although a pair of knees charging at me down hallways still frightens me.
Layout:
Allow the Medical Center be a Medical Center to Medics and Doctor.
I really think that certain areas should be dark or flashing (the lights having failed) , everyone needs to have their flashlights on to see. (Adds more to the feel of the place)
Some areas can me flooded based on how that place looks also to add to the “feel” of the place.
Allow the Mess Hall to be a Cantina to Entertainers.
Allow doors/security/bionic mobs to be sliced (much like what it takes to disable a PC faction base)
Security should be reset after a group moves on. (Entrance security should reset when a group descends into the Main area of the Warrens) Keys should respawn 10-15 minutes later allowing the first group to get somewhere before the next group is on top of them.
Areas should close within a short amount of time. Right now Bor's room stays open for like 10-15 minutes, allowing shortcuts to be taken to by pass large sections of the quest.
(Give me the brain removal procedures.
)
Quests:
FOUO and Encryption Key need to be removed from characters upon completion.
Require PCs to have the FOUO in their possession to finish the quest.
The Master Control room keys (4) could be spread out instead of all being in the Medical Center.
Warren: Compassion is horribly easy. Perhaps it was meant that way. Loot the item; 30 seconds later (if areas are clear) turn in, Poof a Badge.
Warren: Hero of the Empire is great but can be broken into no one really needs to do the whole quest. One can walk in and already have the Data and Key, if anyone has taken down Bors in the last 10 minutes or so, you can walk in, download the last disk, and poof your done, never having had to get the FOUO, shutdown the reactor or any of the rest of the quest.
holo et al.,
i visited the warren for the first time last night/this morning. what an amazing piece of content! i found it extremely engaging and challening. even with a group of five, we had difficulty staying together and staying alive. in some ways, it reminds me of being underneath ft. tusken--the radar is almost useless, the map is problematic--but with a more maze-like feel. i haven't finished the quests and look forward to trying again tomorrow.
one issue: i was told that i could deliver the letter to the widow in a room hidden behind a pile of debris. i found the debris and the room behind it, but the woman was not there. i'm not sure if someone killed her or if she only spawns randomnly... or perhaps i just had the wrong location.
anyway, i'll check again tomorrow. thanks for putting in this fantastic piece of content. really, it rocks. great job.

I want to see some dang star wars action people not some resident evil zombie mutated guf drolg kill the mad scientest quest thats not star wars and thats what is wrong with the warren! and we need better payoffs than boring badges
I absolutely loved the Warren. It is probably the most fun that I have had in SWG. Please do more of these in the future. I kind of wish there was more replayability though. I finished both badges in about 3 hours.
The Warrens was a big fun and i realy like it, but there is one problem. The only reward you get there is a line of text which states that you have completed it. There is no reason to go back to the zone after you have completed it. It is not like a EverQuest zone where you go again and again to get something for you char.
Thats realy bad, you spend alot of time to create it and had some realy good ideas to make it interesting but it is a shame that it is for most of the player a one visit place.
my personal opinion:
It was well thought out in that you have to actuially think and work around areas, but it was just a bit to easy.
Had it been made so that every player had to get the elevator keys instead of one... i know i wandered in there walked through the whole thing with a friend of mine so we could get him the 2 badges and we were able to do the whole warren in about 10 mins way to quick... Allthough i do know that it is hard when the mobs are in the warren cause ive been in it during that time to... but still longer and maby more things to unlock to get to different areas and if possible make it so everyone has to use the same keys to get into the different rooms
I did it solo all the way up to inserting the rods into the reactor. Then I met with 2 people right after server came up and completed it. (mind you this was when you could do it only once a day, boy I felt bad for the people trying that day
I loved it, and it reminded me of a console video game level....
And might I suggest maybe adding Champion Spawns, like in UO...maybe not exactly the same formula as them, but something to that effect...Champ Spawns in UO were so fun and a true test of skill....
