Well for one this isn't real life and two if it was real life and you did have some incredible armor that was individually custom made for you what are the chances that you are somehow going to get this duplicated,it just doesnt happen that way.
Luckily we are going to get a combat balance soon so pvp will be fare and a little more realistic and strategic not relying on some half a million credit suit of composite or stacked up skill tapes simply bought. Its a joke if your armor is gone go buy some more or else fight like a man or woman respectively and use some skills not rely fabricated talent .

I'm so sick of the trolls of this forum spouting out this bull___.. We already have decay in the game. It is just fine the way it is...no need to add more decay to the game. It is obvious that these trolls have never pvped more than a few times, and have no idea what it feels like to have a 2million credit+ suit of composite.
Ima troll sure buddy .I just finished reading your posts you have nothing but negativity my friend.Get a life .
lol Great way to validate yourself. And yah, I believe you have read all 600+ posts I have made on these forums. They are ALL negative.
Keep up the good detective work.
As far as negativity goes, I'm a realist. I am not blinded by the devs and I don't believe everything someone tells me. I have no intention to kiss anyone's ass over a video game. That doesn't help the game improve one bit.
When you decide to pvp on a regular basis, leave a message.
For what it's worth, I know the devs are highly capable of achieving greatness with this game. They are a skilled bunch, but are sometimes forced to make bad decisions either from pressure from the publishers or their own lack of in-game experience.

Go up AS yourself, make 10 suits of good composite for yourself over the 30 days or so it will take to get the resources...then drop AS
so I guess the answer to everything in this game is to make it yourself?
*sigh*

Insulting TH is not the answer...
Respectabledebaters attack their opponent's argument, NOT the opponent himself.
I appreciate hearing that the devs are keeping the 1% by design, and not hiding behind a claim that it's technically un-feasible. So now we can continue to discuss whether 1% decay is the best death sting, or whether we can all come up with amore creative/ more accepted-by-the-community death sting.
In a debate, that would be true, but this isn't a debate. This isa prime example of what the industry calls 'bait and switch'... they promise you one thing, but then at the last minute, deliver something less than what they promised... telling you that they never guaranteed you'd get the first thing... and that when you signed up... you signed away your right to complain that you're not getting what you were promised...

ive played a long time, and i personally think 1% decay on a death is fine on insured with the exception of Armor, which decays during use like my weapon. sorry but no death penalty is boring. anyone that only wants to PvP if they dont lose any condition on the rest of their gear should stay out of PvP and go Neutral 24/7. same goes for the Imperial Crackdown (now that they revised it to make much more sense) anything that decays with use (armor, weapons, charges on a stim etc) should be exempt whether insured or not. dont tell me that paying a few K credits to insure your gear is penalty enough, because even taking the lowest of missions you can insure very quickly. if you plan on PvPing and dont want stuff to degrade, store it in the bank, but you cant have your cake and eat it too.
and as far as informed opinion i played in beta, i have been Overt and Covert Rebel, i have PvPed in GCW and duels. i have died and been DBed over and over on a few occasions that i was fighting overwhelming odds trying to storm theed (and had a blast doing it). i got to DB a few imps too. i hated when there was no death penalty and saw death as a fast way back to town when a nite of hunting was done. yea i need to replace my gear here and there, but it makes you choose your fights a lil better if you are low on funds, or go kill stuff for cash in between so you arent ALWAYS gunning down another player. how is that for informed opinion? if you disagree we can always /duel
Like decay really stopped the death train. For those that stopped wearing armor, it's there. You don't seem to get why people are against it. Your equipment decays just fine without the added death decay in. It also only affect those wearing armor.
I don't care if someone wants to get themselves killed and take a quick trip back to town instead of riding their swoop for 5 minutes. It is not the same now as it was when death decay went into the game. Death decay is a double penalty. You think you get away 100% free when you die? Think again. Look at your stats after you clone. You take some nasty wounds already.
What I want and what this game needs is a real penalty for cloning. We need a cloning sickness like what is on the doctor's revival skill. When you are revived, you can't do anything for 1 minute. I suggest, when you clone, you can't do anything for 5 minutes. This solves ALL the problems people are having.

You're slightly wrong:
ANYONE can repair armor, armorsmiths get NO extra bonus.. No matter who uses the repair tool and at what condition the armor is in, it still has a 50/50 chance of being COMPLETELy destroyed.. hardly an "option"..
Really? I guess you've done experiments with a non armorsmith and an armosmith and different rated tools and repaired several pieces of armor to get your 50% statistic?
I know there is an Armor Repair skillmod because I have an old tape that has it. I'm not saying that armorsmiths get any (because I'm not 100% sure), but if they don't, they should.
So, just because you have a skilltape doesn't mean anything. I have some cloths with +gernade experimentation on them. Doesn't mean that skill is being USED in game. It is a left over from beta. They took the skill out when commandos stopped making gernades. There are quite a few skill tapes that dropped in the beginning of release that doesn't do anything now.
When a Master Armorsmith tells you it doesn't work, why must you keep defending it? You're wrong. Plain and simple. Armorsmiths can and will fail on repairing your item. It happens, why the need to do detailed tests when you know they will fail. Any failure is unwanted. I suppose as a Doctor trying to heal you, I should have a chance of actually doing damage? No? Didn't think so.

You know when we did not have decay we had the tailors screaming too put it in so they could get business from return customers.
Before that we had corpses. those of us from that time know how bugged that was, wanna go back too that?
Was the misscommunication a lie?
then again there will always be another person too take your place.

Our plan is, in the next publish (NOT Imperial Crackdown, which is due soon, but the following publish) to have a factional perk that you can purchase with faction points. This perk will give you 24 hours of no decay on insured items for factional deaths.
Gary,
You're just adding another layer of complexity here that doesn't solve the problem in its entirety.
I can understand that you have trouble identifying PvP death and linking the insurance system to it though.
However, it might be time to seriously get into the code and find a solution to this. Yes I know it might requires some unwanted efforts from the dev's team but considering the present uproar against the 1% decay, I guess that you should reallygive it a try.
In the mean time, just put decay on hold as you did some time ago with the corpserun and insurance system and find something better than just a quick fix that might not be one.
*Nothing* prohibits this because armors already degrades due to use and armorsmiths can't meet the demand. And Tailors do not get increased demands due to decay because you can still wear a cloth with a condition of zero and benefit from it.
Moreover, decay in PvP is a very bad thing, we all agreed to this, the dev's team included.
So please, dig into the code to find a nice working solution to this instead of providing us with another system which doesn't make things easier in terms of game play and potentially in terms of programming too.
