Thread: Friday Feature Errata... Part 2...
Thunderheart wrote:If we make this a nicer place to be, more and more people come to the forums and get involved, conversations become more interesting and stimulating. We really can work through this to make this the most fun game possible and the best forums, but it takes time and cooperation.
The problem that I see is that when the players give overwhelming input for or against certain issues, we are ignored. The PvP death decay is one of those issues. Thousands of posts show that the players do not want items to decay after a PvP death.
And this time to make it worse... You (devs) listened to us, you took out PvP decay, you put it in the patch notes, and as far as I know you even put it onto test center. The players were ecstatic. But then you yanked it out from under us. You told us you were going to do something and you reneged. That was far far worse than just telling us to suck it up, PvP death decay is in game. You have enraged your player base with this debacle.
I am totally dumbfounded as to why you would tell us that you were taking out PvP death decay, put it in patch notes, put it on the website and in the forums, and then just say "never mind". Wow.
This is most definitely not fun.
I'll add a few last words here.
In all seriousness, I have cancelled my account. I have about 6 - 8 weeks of play time remaining before my account is gone.
Having cancelled the account, I was offered the chance to provide feedback about the game, but of course, like the game, the options for feedback are controlled by a development team that has set their own rules for what is important to ask about in the survey.
There's no option to provide direct comment or detailed reasons for cancelling an account. You have to answer the survey questions as asked, and must choose answers even where there are questions that should provide a "No" or "No other games" as an answer.
Having made that complaint, I will say that somewhere there is obviously a counter that is registering the cancellation of the account.
What does this have to do with the issue that this thread relates to?
Simple - accounts can be cancelled and then re-opened later if desired. SOE isn't actively purging accounts. Even if you cancel an account, you can simply "un-cancel" the account later and restart your subscription without losing anything. Your items stay in your house. Your stuff stays in your safety deposit box. Your credits stay on your character or in the bank. Nothing goes away -- but, because you cancelled, you can leave your feedback for why you are cancelling, and you can make it clear in numbers that are *very* important to SOE that you are not happy with the game as things stand and you are demanding changes in order to continue to pay to play.
What I would suggest is that people that are not happy with the continuation of this stupid game element (the decay upon death) CANCEL their accounts even if you intend to continue the account later.
After cancelling, take the time to answer the survey and provide feedback. Give legitimate reasons for why you are cancelling, or at least come as close as you can. Choose the option that says "poor customer service" for reason for cancelling. (It's as close as you can come to "the devs are either liars and scum or are total incompetentsthat ignore customer complaints" as you can get)
Let the bean counters at SOE and LucasArts get the numbers of cancellation reports back and let them quake in their boots and crap in their pants over the massive cancellation of accounts all at the same general time.
Send the signal loud and CLEARLY that SOE's devs must pay attention to what the PLAYERS WANT not what the devs want to give us, the paying customers.
If you are cancelling because of this issue, or any others, provide feedback and let SOE and LucasArts know that you aren't happy and you won't take it any more.
Ok...this whole thing is getting rediculose!
Player Drivin ...what a joke!
I'm printing all 42 pages of these threads and mailing it to Sony.

Oh look, Mommy! Another SOE yutz! At what point did you pinheads fail to grok that item decay with insurance was a really bad idea that a large number of your customer base does not want? Wait - did you work for Microsoft before you came to SOE? That would explain it.
Senior Producer mybol's backside - shut up and go code something the people paying your salary want for a change. That would absolutely dazzle us all.

Folks,
I have to step in, as Senior Producer, and take some responsibility here. The 1% decay removal was communicated to TH. We then revoked that change without telling him. He posted erroneous information to you, and it is my fault. I have apologized profusely to him, and now I am doing so to the community.
Here is why we revoked that change:
We want the GCW to be everything it can be. We want factional PvP to be fun and exciting. We understand that as players, you don't want the 1% decay. We think it is an important game mechanic in the right situations, but we want to remove it from factional battles.
Our plan is, in the next publish (NOT Imperial Crackdown, which is due soon, but the following publish) to have a factional perk that you can purchase with faction points. This perk will give you 24 hours of no decay on insured items for factional deaths.
Now as to your harsh words and attitude towards Thunderheart... I understand your frustration. But you have to know that every morning, the first person I talk to is TH, to find out about the current hot issues. He comes with us to almost all of our high-level meetings and represents "the voice of the players". He has tremendous passion for the game, and for you, and for his job. He fights for your issues, heart and soul, day in and day out. His job is to know your desires and represent them to us. And I think he does his job **edit** WELL.
It kills me to see how harsh some of the player population is towards him, because I know in no small part, we are responsible for any misinformation that you receive from him. No one is perfect, and things happen very rapidly from time to time. Miscommunications are going to occur. Don't kill the messenger. Please be forgiving, or direct your wrath towards a more guilty party (me).
Again, my deepest apologies for any misinformation regarding item decay from PvP. I take full responsibility. We love this game, as you do, and want it to be everything it can be. With your help, we will get there.
Best,
- Gary
Yet the game is for us right?
Come on, we know what drives most of the insane decisions around here.
A lot of you are very forgiving, but some of us have been playing this game since launch and beta.
All of this looks like backtracking to me...
If there wasn't such a huge uproar on the forums about this, would this post have been made?
You keep placing the most important aspect of star wars on the back-burner EACH TIME. THE WAR! Do you guys honestly take part in this non-existant war? *sigh*

Well for one this isn't real life and two if it was real life and you did have some incredible armor that was individually custom made for you what are the chances that you are somehow going to get this duplicated,it just doesnt happen that way.
Luckily we are going to get a combat balance soon so pvp will be fare and a little more realistic and strategic not relying on some half a million credit suit of composite or stacked up skill tapes simply bought. Its a joke if your armor is gone go buy some more or else fight like a man or woman respectively and use some skills not rely fabricated talent .

I'm so sick of the trolls of this forum spouting out this bull___.. We already have decay in the game. It is just fine the way it is...no need to add more decay to the game. It is obvious that these trolls have never pvped more than a few times, and have no idea what it feels like to have a 2million credit+ suit of composite.
