Its wonderful you had the time and resources to devote 2 major publishes to a profession that represents a small % of players, Jedi. Thanks for ignoring the majority of the player base and loooong-standing issues that effect everyone.

This "messenger" has posted ANYTHING since 7/16 (last fri).

He either has nothing to say or has gone into hiding.

Deliver the bad news then run and hide because of the fallout.

lol We just expected honesty and some effort. We got neither. I hold my self to those standards. I hold other people to them also.

They've put alot of effort into JTL, but that's not what I've paid a year of monthly fees and a $50 box for. I expect people to do what they've agreed to do, because that's what I do. I'm not that easy to get along with. I'm sure I am an a$$hole, troll, **edit**, and whatever else people have called me, but when I say something is getting done, it is.

I don't think you're a troll or an *ss. I understand where you're coming from, because most of my posts have been out of anger. I'm just saying that it does us no good to attack the Dev's personally. I don't have any idea what goes on in making an MMO. To attack them is somewhat foolish imo, because I suspect that other factors are forcing this decision. How do we know the execs didn't tell them what to do? Who really is pushing the buttons around there? This game was released too early, we all know that. We also know that the Dev's would've loved to have more time, but the execs said, "release it now." Let's remember, money talks and b.s. walks. Most of what I've had to say to this point has been hateful b.s. I'll let my account cancellations speak for themselves.

Most of us here would wholeheartedly disagree. Even if you can live without PvP, there just isn't any real content. Look at other games out there, DAoC, even CoH....the content in those games is dynamic and deep, and can keep someone's attention for a long, long time. And when you've gotten to the pinnacle of your profession, there's even MORE content. In SWG, all the "content" is just grinding professions, and when you've made master, there's nothing left.

That's assuming you can live without PvP or the GCW....but those are two of the most important areas of the game, so expecting to just go on slaying squills day after day is just pointless. There is no ENDGAME. JTL will keep some players around and bring some back, but in the end it's a beautiful new Ferrari with a Yugo engine in it.

I played DAoC. No thanks...EQ lite without the magic. The RvR balance (or lack thereof) makes SWG look good. (See? I can make blanket statements out of my opinions as well as anyone)

CoH is deep? That's a first. All the complaints I've heard about it involve a very shallow game. The fighting is great, but that's all it does. No crafting, no loot, just missions to beat up bad guys. I guess that's ok if that's what ya want...

And I didn't say I don't PvP...I was actually involved in a fantastic battle this past weekend. I'm saying that I don't feel I need to "p0wn j00" to be content.

Kindly give some "end game" content that DAoC and CoH provide once you've maxed out your profession - content that doesn't involve merely slaying the same critter with a different skin and harder stats over and over and over.

I think the point Quinnt was making is that, in games like DAoC and CoH, the player at least has a 'purpose'for doing things. In these games, missions have multiple sequential phases, encapsulated by story-driven content. You don't simply 'grind' missions for credits and look around for skill-tapes.

When people do missions in SWG, do they even read the mission descriptions any more? Highly unlikely. Why? Because the missions themselves means nothing--they're just there for'grinding' credits, nothing more.Even the in-city missions lack purpose. Half of the NPC's don't even asnwer or provide tasks any more, and those that do serve only to re-state the obvious for you and/or provideyou with'rewards' that have little value. Sure, it's nice to do theJabba theme park, but what do you get for it? In DAoC, you're rewarded with better equipment, gear, Xp, items you can't get anywhere else. In CoH, you're rewarded with the highly-coveted single origin enhancements as well as large amounts of influence (not to mention the act of completing thequest/task force is a fun endeavor in itself, CoH having a great group dynamic).

In SWG, you try to engage with the in-game 'content',and you are rewarded with nothing but a good measure of your time being stolen from you. And while there are some missions that do have some interesting rewards, you invariably have to do amillion useless 'quests' before you even get to them, not to mentionall of the needless travel that is involved a lot of the time. Then, of course, you have to worry about people re-setting the mission points, or not being able to follow you because they forgot to get 'key number 5' and have been warped to 0,0. Again, it's just avast waste of time.

Sigh.

Why does this feel like Earth and Beyond all over again?
Explore content? Missing classes? Anyone? Beuler?

Can't i just for once have an MMORPG that's not starting to go down the drain a few months after i start playing it?

Great Expectations
There are great expectations in the community for the upcoming Combat Balance and the Galactic Civil War revamp.

Who's fault is that? Yours.
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=222831
(the full listing of how promises made by your fingers have now been totally broken. Leave Charles Dickens out of this, as you've set the bar here.

These announced upcoming major features are pivotal to making the Galaxies experience more of a Star Wars experience. To deliver on these major features, we will need the full development team and re-assembling the team isn’t going to happen until after the upcoming Jump to Lightspeed expansion is shipped.

Stop Right There Your SOE slave masters have decided that you need to have this game make money and so you've stopped discussion of this point before we even got a chance. If it's "Not Going to Happen" then you really are the greedy marketing droids that you are run by.

Delaying these critical features was not something we are doing for our convenience, but only to ensure they are done well.

Liar! You are doing this out of a need to sell the Jump to Lightspeed expansion before holiday 2004. Stop lying already.

The team leadership has been discussing these changes, the future of SWG and the feedback from the community.

Is that why your community relations manager is quiting the job? Perhaps Runesabre is holed up in Waco and is spitting things about how the nasty players have unlimited wants...

At the core of the discussions are our team goals. The team’s goals are to increase the quality of the service, make the game more fun and accessible and finally to make a much more intense Star Wars experience.

Well, I guess it's time to publish your team goals list as it's getting in the way of Customer Service and support which is "Job one!" at most large corps. like SOE.

Rather than continue to split the team’s forces and try to accomplish too many goals, we’re going to do a few things and do them right. Once the Jump To Lightspeed is complete, the team as a whole will be re-grouped. Then the combined team will accomplish the Combat Balance, the GCW and all the other improvements to the game.

One JTL ships, you'll take a team of your best developers and immediately put them to work on the next expansion for SWG. Don't lie, and certainly don't act like you are in charge of anything TH. It's becoming very clear that your position at SOE is to provide the company line from the powers above you. Regardless of the amount of time and love you've put into getting to the position you are in, you seem to have lost your abilitly to speak clearly and honestly to the customers of your business. You are simply a token attempt at sony to distract and dismiss player concerns. Sure you've helped at points, but even the blind man (I have nothing against blind people) manages to color coordinate pants and shirt now and again.

To offset this very big announcement that will affect all of you, I will be immediately working with the correspondents and the community to develop a list of pre-combat balance fixes to get combat into a more enjoyable state.

Oh, a promised list of bug fixes, and then a hiatus from board posts as you cower in your Correspondent's forum with your faithful toadies and complain about the "unpleasable" peasants in the kingdom.

Between now and JTL is where I come in. Right out of the gate, I’ll be working with the community to develop plans for the Combat Balance and post them on the site; we’ll do a few features and I will continue to post updates. Later we will do the same for the GCW, the Squad Leader Revamp and all of the community issues on the table. In this, we can marry community expectations and development goals in a way that has never been done before with online games.
Time to F ****** produce my red named friend! You've just lied and told us those lies were ok, because this is all out of your control. Produce to the players, your correspondents are not that player base! And while your at it, your marketing droid speak is showing.

Not long after The Jedi Trials, we’ll be focused on the JTL Beta and integrating Space with the ground game. Meshing the live service with JTL is a big challenge since it means it will be the first time anyone has ever integrated a complete RPG and action Space game before.

Complain to someone who isn't paying you about how tough your job is. Tell your boss, "it's just a game, relax." and take some time off why don't ya?

The Jump to Lightspeed is currently on track for a later October launch, which is a relatively short time away.

Currently the main game you've pushed down our throats as "complete" is broken and you're asking us to pay well over 100$ waiting around to fix it. You contemptable b******s, you even have the guts to come forth and bribe us with JtL beta invites so you can go hide at your texas ranch, oops wrong lying Texan.

TH has not been on the forums signed in since yesterday at 5 pm.

If you notice the names of the posters, it really looks like the same 20 names over and over again. Using supersize font and bright colors does not make your post any better, just makes it harder to read.

Face it guys and gals, they don't care.

Broke is broke and this game is broke.

This game has been broken so long, it's like SWG just has a culture of being broke.

SOE's priority process:

Publish 10.2 is focused on the entertainers which features a unique new game experience where entertainers, Dancers and Musicians can perform for an NPC audience for the reward of a new song and dance.

So that had a higher priority than fixing the combat system...

Seriously now, why cant those lazy-***es over at SOE just place in the damn combat revamp and watch all these post dissapear. Here ill even sum up the combat revamp. Make everything equal, Make PvP not limited to only 4 professions, Un-Nerf professions like carbineer and pikeman. Make TKM less fast or less powerful. Jedi's should be strong but not invincible. Only people who have mastered 2 or 3 elite professions, i.e. If you are currently a master Fencer/Bralwer/Teras Kasi or something like that should be able to beat jedis. Not an architect/Merchant who also happens to be a TKM. Give us THE JABBA FACTION!!!!!!!!!!

I to want a CombatBalance badly, but I also want them to...

Balance them, upwards not downwards and balance combat professions based on SP used, not neato, or FOTM factor. I have my opinions on how things could be/would be done to achieve this. Personally Ithinksome classes have to be toned down, even though they ARE regular parts of my templates.

Well, I read through all 60 odd pages of the first thread and about the 1st half dozen of this one.

My account runs out in sept and I'll not be renewing it, most of my friends have left already. I think it's a real shame as the game showed so much promise in the early days. As a MCH/pistoleer I was really holding out for the combat revamp but I just can't be bothered waiting anymore. Shame,SWG could have been really great.
