Thread: Faction Insurance Day Pass: How much?
100 FPs if Covert, none needed (essentially always have it free) if Overt.
That leaves me with one question. What if you're neutral, and just do PvE? hmm? How do WE get a pass so you don't screw us on our tools, clothes, armor...well? Or are you making this 'SW:Battlegrounds'? Just take out ALL the creatures. Take out the sandpeople. take out Jabba, the Banthas, everything else. Because you are totally ignoring everything except the whole 'gcw' thing. Some of us play this game because it's the only one that has a real (if forced) social aspect, and have little to no interest in the faction garbage. I dumped it for several reasons
1-rebel players tend to take it WAY too seriously. Referring to Imps as everything from Nazis to Fascists.
2-Imp players tend to be more laid back and mature. They're the good guys on naritus at least. So much for continuity.
3- The whole thing is a joke. Wookies in the Empire..Rodians screaming they can't wear Stormtrooper helmets..and then you say you can't issue Emperor's guard robes, or Storm commando gear, or this, or that for 'continuity reasons'. I know it ain't you guy's fault completely (Lukas has his hands in there too.) but the deal is, you need to come up with some sort of policy on what is 'acceptable for continuity' and what's not, and just publish it someplace, so people stop asking for things that won't happen.
4- My whole goal was to get some cool stormtrooper armor originally...only to find it is, basically, trash. I got a used set of Ubese for free with nearly twice the stats (yes sliced, lol) and I've seen composite at even higher ratings.
You want the GCW to take off...losing factional item decay is a step in the right direction. Not the step we wanted, but at least it's a compromise. But you need to do more. MUCH more. If you want the evil empire back...you need to toughen up ATSTs. Not as obscene as they were..but take away ALL dot effects, and state attacks. Otherwise, leave them as is. Commandos will still waste them..but odds are, they'll get a bit more beat up doing so. That's a commando's job, to take on the big jobs. Stormtrooper armor needs to have the enc lowered, and it's stats raised. Faction weapons need to improve. To balance this out..rebels get their illegal gear. After all, just BEING rebel is illegal, so why should it matter if someone spots their spice? lol.
Another idea, is more faction gear. LOTS more. The Rebel helmets from Endor should able to get from a recruiter. More faction schematics. Dead eye is a very cool start, but let's get some more in there,k? Not even any new hard coding needed. Add in stormtrooper armor parts, factional 'military spec' weapons, etc.
Stormtroopers should have a SMALL chance of dropping a stormtrooper helmet. the rest of the suit would still be faction required, but then rebels could have one on their desk as a trophy, or sell them to Imps if they wish to be more of a mercenary 'deals with whoever has the most cash' type. Of course, like any other loot, would be around half condition, and in need of immediate repairs before even using it, keeping the number of them in check.
Scout armor. Those are my favorite troopers in the game..I got my bike now, where's my armor? lol. I even got a scout blaster. AND I saw a rebel commando wearing green scout armor once, an yes I took a screenshot. Why couldn't that be Rebel commando armor, instead of the weird looking suit they give out?
Remember, when the rebels saw the Empire coming on Hoth..THEY RAN.

1% decay with insurance is rediculous. There is no need for it, there is no need to have it. I do not understand why the Developers are so insistant on having it. I personnaly do not PvP at all because of it, nor will I ever PvP as long as the Devs continue to think it is useful in any way. There will never be any real purpose to the GCW as long as you have people like me out here that do not want to buy expensive armor that decays twice upon damage in battle, and again at death. The crafters are not hurting for business, the the uninsured decay is plenty enough for them to maintain thier status quo. IF I INSURE MY ITEMS, THEY SHOULD NOT DECAY.....period. That should be all there is to it. No more discussion is nessesary on this subject.
(snipping irrelivant from original post)
I agree with the above. He is right on. Full on PVP won't happen for me while the 1% is in.I worked hard for my armor and want to keep it in top shape.
Thissoundslike an additionalburden instead of fun. It will even more so after the 'crackdown'.
Not a good idea for 1% - never has been. Even a 24 hour vacation will not help.
TH & Dev team,
I think only a "check in" thing should be required with a recruiter to make sure the troops armor & weapons are in good working order. To lose faction for wanting to keep up your gear in wrong, but then as all say so is the 1% on insured items in the first place. What you need to do is keep the decay on non-insured only and then focus on fixing the corpse problems, that was a great idea and made sense!
I realize the mechanics & such but believe it or not "time sinks" is NOT fun, it makes many (especially casual gamers) want to just leave/quit. Get rid of insured decay all together and fix the problems with corpses.
Just remove the 1% decay on Armor like you did on weapons..
Keep 1% on everything else....or lower it to 0.5% if its so important to make sure all crafters stay millionaers
I have seen alot of kinda silly amounts here.Let's face it people, if you want a free decay day pass it should cost a little bit more than just 25 FPs, It should cost at least 100 FPs. Why? Cause it will last ALL DAY (barring any bugs that should be fixed on the test center) Serioues PVPers usually brag about getting a few hundred FPs a Raid so why not make it cost a little more, besides in under an hour the typical player can get that many FPs from missions right before they hit up an opposing city.
Just my 2 holocrons
alright im gonna try to contribute here, not sure if Thunderheart will hear me with all the yelling though....
here goes...
1) fp or credits? hmmm, well logically the cost should be in FP since its a "faction combat" pass from a factional recruiter. then again you can just as easily donate credits to the cause.
maybe you can have an option for one or the other? like someone else said, not everyone has lots of FP. then again not everyone has money to spare. why not let the player choose? obviously they should be roughly equal in weight. another point is that this can be a good credit sink. lots of fp makes for little inflation since almost all faction points just go into "disposable" items like turrets and bases. turrets blow up, thier owners earn more FP and replace turrets. credit sinks are "better."
2) how much? well i've heard some people saying 50 to 100 fp and that sounds pretty good to me. consider that fp typically sells for 100 cpu to 130 cpu on any given server. how much is free insurance for a day worth? 10,000 credits? well that would fall in line with 100 fp.
another good point was already made. if you force people to run 4 or 5 missions beforehand just to pay for the cost of the pass AND the loss of faction points in actual combat its going to create a timesink that will just take away from the pvp you are trying to encourage. (right)?
how much would i personally pay for a 1 day pass? more than most people im sure. then again i have very expensive armor. i'd say that i would pay up to 250 fp for the pass or the equivalent 25,000 credits.
another somewhat obvious idea here: make it cheaper for higher ranking officers? these are people who have basically "thrown away" faction points to rise in the ranks. your system of allowing high ranking officers to escape searches during the crackdown is VERY smart!!! i say keep going with your encouragement of attaining higher ranks. (and let us display rank
)
