Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 2-16-04)
I have to repeat my post, becouse I cant edit
Dear Devs
I like the street from Wayfar to Jabbas Palace, I think (I'm not sure) but its the only street outside a city. Why are there not more streets. Maybee just one from one big NPC-City to an other?. The vehicles could drive a little bit faster on this street THAN "outdoors". So, the players would take the road to get faster from one point to an other on Vehicles. Maybee this will support the RP. Imagine what would happen. There would be some traffic, Houses and Shops would be settle there and not just somewherein the "outdoors" (hopeflully :-)". I think, it would give the way from one city to an other a reasen totake it with your vehicle. And itwould just look great.
Ohhh, what would make this game great, if you could make a break on your journey and stop in cantina on the way :-) from one city to an other. Listen to some entertainers, drinking some beer, talk to other travellars and then continue yourjourney.
I wouldnt go with a shuttle as this dream would be real. It would make a journey from one city to an other to a little adventure.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I got tired of reading the ignorant thread after page one. Force crystals can already be crafted by the Jedi. Jedi were meant to be rare, and are supposed to be in hiding. I don't want to see ANY interaction between the normal crafters, image designers, tailors or the like and the Jedi. They should be hiding out, and if they aren't they should be hunted down by bounty hunters.
I can't believe how few people really pay attention to the facts before they post complaints on these forums.
Have made a few posts about the Bounty Hunter class, and have played a lot of pvp in between. Have noticed the following :
Master TKA = Week or two of playing.
Master BH =Two or Three months. However, with ease in a fight the TKA can knockdown / dizzy and killthe BHbefore your back standing, which you cant evendo cos your dizzy.
Who in SWG can justify this.
Keep Melee class dodge, but have it only effective against melee attack and instead of dodge against ranged attack, offer extra health / action or secondary atributes (strength / willpower) at regular intervals in the skill tree's. PvP is owned by the melee class. I have seen large groups of ranged characters get ko'd by one or two melee characters. And it wasn't the inepitiude of the ranged characters that caused this, it was the unfair advantage that has been stacked onto the melee class by the designers.
Furthermore, if you look at the "in concept" 1-1's the Bh tree goes on forever, yet nothing bar fix's have been implemented. Yes are Proffession needs fix's like investigation XP increase and Mission Bug's, but are characters are so so incapable of handling even the weekest opponents. Give us gadgets, poisons, a quick dodge jet pack jump, a net that works like warcry, anything! If you dont increase our damage output fine, then give us the chance to last for more than a fleeting instance in a battle scenario or one on one. The bounty hunter does not feel like star wars. I dont want to be Boba Fett, but at least i want to have the option to try and be that good, if iseek the best combo's the very best weapons etc etc.
And please, All i see in combat is identicle composite drones, Profession specific Armour, and make the Bounty Hunters very high in Kinetic, and resistant to whatever damage lightsabre's do. Also crafters in my guild find the profession nothing but tedious. Take away the boring element of crafting and have it that Crafters that get really really rare resources get big xp bonuses. Have area's of the galaxy so dangerous that only high lvl groups or rangers with excellent mask scent can travel there, and here have the valuable hide's etc..
How about giving the data terminals that architects can make some functionality one would expect from them?
What i have in mind is to make it so that when crafting data terminals architects would have some additional slots they could put some extra components in to should they want to. For example make it so that droid engineers would be able to create slightly modified data modules that could be used in the data terminals along with smugglers being able to use their "slicing" skills to create an OS for that data terminal.
The way it would work is that the more skilled a slicer a smuggler would be, the less space would that OS take up in the data module, it would also be a nessecary component(together with, lets say, a micro-processor and that data module...maybe also a few other components that would themselves be a bit complex to manufacture) to make a data terminal more then just a decoration.
This would give players the possibility to use terminals as an alternative to droids, however i want their main use to be something new. We already have the /notepad command but it is very limiting...for one, whatever we write down in the notepad can only be accesed by us(unless we send the file to other players outside the game). I think it would be great if we would be able to create files that would be stored on remote systems and thus be accesible by others with ease. They could be stored in those data terminals only(at least in the begining) and they would only be on the terminal they were created on(also at least in the begining). This would give players the ability to create "libraries".
If disk space is of a concern to you then maybe you could do the following instead. Give the players the ability to host the files themselves with you only hosting a list of files accesible by others and when a player selects a file to view they would download it from the player hosted server. This would also make it so that multiple terminals could host the same files, but then you would of course have to make it so that only one player at a time would be able to acces a single terminal.
Maybe some maintanance costs could be applied to the data terminals as well...
If the above doesn't seem to make much sense just contact me for a better formulated copy of the idea
Enjoy!
Let me begin with a "tree" that ilustrates what i have in mind:
NOTE: Because the tree wont display correctly here i have decided to upload it to a web server. If you are interested in seeing the entire content of this post you can download it from http://intor.users.whitehat.dk/swg.doc
The above "tree" shows the way a data terminal could be assambled.
Master Artisan could create some electronics you could come up with just to make the entire thing more complex.
Droid Engineer could create the OS itself as well as the data storage module. Please note that in the previouse post i mentioned smuggler creating the OS, however after some consideration i decided it's more of a task for a droid engineer since (s)he does kinda the same when creating droids.
Architect assambles the entire data terminal by adding the "extra stuff" to the normal "dummy" data terminal during its crafting session. Note that architects will still be capable of creating those "decorational" terminals.
OS: The OS would have different qualities depending on Droid Engineers "Programming Skills". It could for instance take up less data space. It could allow for higher level/quality software to be run on it, as well affect other softwares data space usage trough the "quality" of "file system" used.
Data Storage: Similar to the droids data storage module it would provide storage space in a facon similar to the datapad. In order to allow for storage of player writen documents/books the number would be a direct representation of kilobytes(not kilobits
The data storage could also be used for storing schematics.
New skills: Amongst new skills the one worth mentioning could be the "Programming skill". A droid engineers proficiency in this skill would allow him/her to write better quality of lower level software as well as unlock new types with each level.
Software: I'll have to leave that to you as i have not thought much about this. One thing that could be usefull tho is a calculator. Make it amongst the first types of software available and the higher level Programming skills a droid engineer has the more functions (s)he can add thus making it more complex. F. eks., level 1 programming skills would grant you the simple add and substract functions as well as allow up to 4 digits, while with level 2 you could also add multiplication and division to the functions list as well as use 5-6 digits. More functions would also mean more space usage.
As to the number of terminals placeble in each house, the number could be directly reflected by the number of lots a structure takes up, thus a guild hall could have 9. Extra manitenance fees would apply to structures depending on the number of terminals placed. Also more terminals would effect the amount paid in maintenance for individual terminals. F. eks. 1 terminal would add 50 to maintenance but 2 terminals would add 150 total.
Phew...I guess that is all, if i forgot anything just point it out...hope my "hard work" will bear some fruits
