SWG is unusual in having no roads between cities, to say nothing of footpathsbetween the player houses and harvester farms. Everything implies an economy based on air travel, and now with personal vehicles, the absence of roads and paths begins to make sense.

Ifvehicles kept at home arealways in need of service, then every one of theofficial cities should haveaservice garage for the homes around them. Not justsome or even most of the original cities, but allof them, because they are spaced outlike a service network would be. Doaba Guerfelon its mountain top in Corelliashould have one to serve settlers down on theslopes and prairies around it. Even Bela Vistal, with no starport, still serves a big area on the Corellia map, with miners in the canyon area and harvester farms out on the grasslands that are close to it and far from Coronet. The same thing applies to Naboo, withDee'ja Peak, the capital, with no starport, butdirectly serving a large area of mountains, prairie, and lakes. Likewise to Talus, Rori,or Tatooine.

I have a question rather than a comment, What are player garages going to do for us? if its just another building to place in the player city, forget them. first you need to fix the leave your vehicle behind, store to repair bug. then we will have a reason to use a garage.

So much for a Smuggler revamp, maybe they should just rename us, it would take less time and be easy to do.
"Useless" would be my first choice as a name suggestion.

of course at this point there is no reason to revamp anything. SOE should just shut the game off.

I like the idea that Leela had about letting the Master Artisans have the garage and placing it anywhere. Give it a 2 lot space requirement. Another incentive to be Master Artisan. While you are there, by a customization kit on their bazaar and trick out your ride. I think less "Player City" control should drive this element of the game.

Nevertheless, if this idea isn't considered or feasible, then put one in Bestine....it's the capitol of Tat for Pete's sake. Who want's to go to the ghost town of Mos Entha to have there ride repaired?

I love the idea of player garages, that would be very cool. But at least get them to show up on the planetary maps. It would make life so much easier.

All the major cities please and make them show up on the overhead. If it has a star port or shuttle port it would make sense to have a garage. And for those places like wayfar that dont have a shuttle port it makes even more sense. You could put them in a seedier part of the city.. as it would not make sense to have the dressier areas have garages.

And now a comment.

if we have to have a player garage for our vehicles, each individually, then can we please get more lots?

I think that at the starports is a good idea, and more so on the adventure planets where you dont have a major city there like on Dantooine or Dathomir.

I think the ideal situation from an economy standpoint would be to have an easily found garage in the major cities and outposts -- just like you have medical centers.

In each garage area, people in the X,0,0,0 Artisan class could repair vehicle damage according to skill level -- like medics and doctors can. Artisans could build vehicle repair kits of various degrees that fix vehicles faster.

If no artisans are available, maybe a repair droid could fix things slowly, or only to a certain level.

Absent some new profession (maybe with space, you will have a vehicle or ship crafting profession), this would make sense to me.

At the very least, I hope the current garage situation is temporary until some other things are flushed out. Vehicles and mounts could be a much richer part of the SWG economy if players were more involved in maintenance and upkeep.

Garages could also have fuel vendors -- why don't these vehicles run out of gas? There could be a fuel economy. We already fuel our harvesters and pay maintenance fees for structures.

Why don't the vehicles have the equivalent of a flat tire at random times, or have use events that cause a major amount of damage?

Granted that most of these ideas aren't about garage placement; however, the SWG can have an additional texture to it if garages aren't just places to fix this current steady vehicle decay. Mechanic-type skills are used repeatedly in the movies and extended universe. There is an opportunity with vehicles and garages that should be taken advantage of at some point in future development considerations.

Make them findable

Put their name on the map

Only spaceport cities should have one

Player cities can have them at the city level

Bestine and Wayfar definitely!

More over add them to the world map under a "Vehicle Garage" category so we can find them as well as label them on the overlay map. BTW people, you just have to look for a perfect square building on your overlay map, they aren't that hard to find!

While you are at it, it is about time you added all other trainers (for the new and advanced professions)to that map also... it is quite a pain to find them. I understand that that was just part of the game originally to make people explore - but with player city trainers now, people don't go look for the game city trainers that often anymore nor do they feel like running around a big city over and over again.

I agree, you should be able to find the closest garage with /find, it would clear a lot of the problems trying to find one near you.

dantooine has none to my knowledge. if we're allowed to settle on a planet there should be some on that planet ie. lok and dantooine
