Thread: Friday Feature Jan 23rd Jedi Revamp
I agree with Ladygrey, it sounds like he could be talking about becoming jedi from padawan... maybe moving jedi away from an xp based system to a quest based system and rewarding the people that have already gained some skill boxes with jedi xp (??)
There is nothing specific about them changing the path to opening the FSCS. Maybe they could comment on this instead of dropping a bomb and then going home for the weekend. ![]()
Excellent Q3P0, this allows the Jedi players to get some reward for their hard work. And it will certainly allow Jedi players to be happy to parcipate in both PvP and in the Bounty Hunter missions. It's a challenge to implement a system where non-permadeath hunt permadeath, and this appears to be a great compromise to ensure those who worked hard to become Jedi have some reward and actual fun post slot opening.
Great work. And keep in mind folks- this is just the beginning of a revamp. Things are pretty bad right now, so this gives the Dev team a chance to investigate and balance the Jedi class. As well, all you BH will have more encouragement, and plenty of targets, to stop Jedi from becoming too strong, too fast. It STILL takes 800k Jedi XP to get a lvl 4 jedi box in the initiate tree. That's 800 000 combat experience, or 8 million weapons experience. Even at 60k per hour, that's a good 15 hours of solid grind for ONE skill box. Jedi will still not be so silly to waste one life and lose that much time carelessly.
As to the manner to acquire Jedi- it was meant to be mysterious, and MANY have disagreed with the profession 'grind'. Many of us can certainly agree that 'losing' all our favorite crafters, hunters and combat folks really make a negative impression on the community. If a quest based system is implemented, I for one welcome it.Maybe they will even leave the 'profession grind' method in for a few more months to let people finish it off if that's what they are doing now... that would sure be fair.

What does this mean?????
" (It should also be noted that players who have put in work towards becoming a Jedi will not lose their effort. Some sort of recognition of players' efforts will be included in the new system.)"
do we keep trying to get jedi with the current system? or not???
recognition to me means badge...no no no...tell me it ain't so! I don't mind the system being changed but those of us that have started down this path better have not done that work for nothing...I will quit if so!
Yay! I can stop grinding! Stupid Holocrons...at least I got a small amount of appreciation for Squad Leader this way.
I still say as I said back on the dev boards, RANDOM SELECTION!! Yeah yeah, you all don't want that... ![]()
I want to play a game BASED on star wars, not a Star Wars documentery. I play this game for fun. Everyone wants jedi to be rare, but everyone wants to be jedi(or at least most). I have always been a big star wars fan, and I like the realism but not at the expense of me having fun in game.
I applaud this change, just hope I unlock before the change (on my 13th now)
I forgot to add.. if these changes only pertain to the FS character then cool! They need content too!
If this is pertaining to opening FS slot, BOO again!!!
There seems to be some confusion to what they are talking about.

So you do value your lives... hmmn intresting
After grinding my way through 22 profs without any luck..... im glad they going tochange that system. Quest orientated is a better way.
At least - now i dont cancel my account but wait till the patch.
So, does this mean stop grinding DE.
Also, I feel the need to note THANKS FOR TELLING ME DROP MY PROFESSIONS.
Want a constructive feedback? Keep the perma-death. Seriously, just 1 random skill box gone, and it replenishes as the time goes by? What were you thinking?! People will obviously play their main character for a while until they regain that "life". Pure idiocy.

The first phase is for short term and those changes will appear in Publish 6. They are as follows:
- The permadeath system is being removed and changed to a skill revocation system based on deaths.
- Deaths will decay from the death counter after one week.
- Deaths after a buffer (3 to 5 depending on advancement) will have a skill revocation penalty.
- Skill revocation will be slight at first, but will increase in penalty as the player accumulates more and more non-decayed deaths.
- The skill revocation penalty will increase as a player advances up the skill tree.
- The skill to be revoked will be randomly chosen from the last skill earned in each of the 4 skill branches.
- No more than one skill will be revoked at a time, though players can get to a state where they lose a skill each time they die.
This is all of the information that is available at this time. As additional developments occur, we will post more information.
Feel free to give your constructive feedback on the Publish 6 Jedi changes here. In the next couple weeks, we'll open threads in the In Concept Forum to get your feedback on the future potential changes. May the Force be with you!biwan:
