Wolfing speak for yourself only! Many DE's myself included WANT to be able to build and call out a Decent Combat droid! You Don't speak for All the DE's you speak for yourself and a few others who Spam the DE boards to convince everyone that "All" DE's believe like you do.

See the Sig.. MASTER DE.... been that for a while, not flavor of the month, I and other DE's Want decent combat droids scaled up the tree to Master lvl and Useable by their creators.! Saleable combat droids and DE useable combat droids, thats what DE's want.

Why bother allowing non-CH to even HAVE pets if the only pets you're giving them are worthless crap? Players cannot tank, CL <10 pets cannot tank, AT-ST sucks for tanking because you can't heal it - so what's left as an option for a tank? CH, and nothing but CH.

Fix everything else before you remove the only thing that's allowing non-smuggler non-CH to hunt solo or in small groups. I do not want to see another Everquest where I spend more time trying to find a group (full of morons who will inevitably get me killed) than I do on hunting or anything that's actually FUN.

A few questions and/or statements

1) Whats the point of a higher rank if you cant have more faction pets? The Idea is to draw attention away from CH dabblers no? what will making non CH get lvl 10 pets, and making it possible for only 1 pet period help?

2) If you make it so that you can only have one pet out period, that will hurt the DE (even master) just as much, if not more, that CH dabblers.

3) What is the point of a higher rank in the Rebel / Imp army, if you cannot have more than one pet out? Think about this. Make it so you can only have one PET out, but you can have extra support (I.E. pet, but they are the same as a human being placed under your control, I.E. A Chief Master SGT in the U.S. Airforce will likely be in command of atleast 3 people.) Honestly, Think about it, granted people shouldnt rely on pets, but I personally, Im a pikeman, would be CRUSHED if this went into play, I cant tell you how much my faction pets mean to me, If a novice marksman (Which since we cannot attack and move) runs, I have my pets to keep damaging him.

One pet is a step in the right direction, but 1 pet AND faction pets would be a better step. Now granted, we are trying to get people from AT-ST's, So lets make AT-ST's not faction pets, bear with me. You buy the parts with faction points. You get all the parts, and you hand them to an Armorsmith, you get the Shell, you take the other remaining parts and hand them to a Weaponsmith, and you get the weapons. Then you hand the shell and weapons to the Droid Engineer, and you get an AT-ST, and it is conisdered a DROID, and therefore a PET. This would promote Droid engineers, and keep from having multiple AT-ST's

4) (Off subject) Whats the point of a "Procurement Specialist" "Pathfinder" "Comm officer" and "Technician"?

Pt 3Thanks TH. these revisions and clarifications resolved 95% of my issues with the last proposed change. I dont fully agree that CH xp is too fast. personaly I can lvl most advanced combat profession skill boxes (baring the combat XP boxes bleh) faster than I can lvl a CH skill box even with 2 pets in the field. However if you guys want to tone down the XP a bit I'm not that worried about it considering that I'm almost done Xping my CH. Haveing the pet lvls changed and the number of pets changed were my 2 big issues and now that those are resolved I'm actualy looking forward to this change.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

Our plan here is to first impost a very strict limitation: One pet, regardless of type. And later (but soon) to introduce exceptions to the rule based on the particular pet type. For example, your faction rank will be used to allow you to control more and better faction-perk pets. And your profession will influence the type and number of droid pets you can call (or the number you can call in addition to a creature pet). For example: Doctors, Medics, and/or Combat Medics might gain the ability to call a surgical droid even if they already have a pet of some other type called, whereas a Droid Engineer might be able to call a number of droids of any type, etc

DE is a crafting profession. a DE needs a market not the ability to use his products. This looks like if weaponsmith were automatically granted the certifications of allthe guns theycan craft. This doesnt make sens at all.

DE just need good utility and combat droids with a decent MARKET for them.

Creature Handler is not a combat prof either. You can go fully up the ch tree without ever going into combat. It may take you a while, but you can do it. That argument is the most worthless ones about not improving DE one bit for combat droids. The 2nd most Star Wars-esque prof. (first being Jedi of course). The weapon smith comparison is like comparing a commando to a fencer. Do some thinking before you post again on this subject.

That being said, as a nonCH with several regular hunting partners that are CH dabblers and MasterCH, I think these new changes are good for the long term.

Thunderheart,

There is still one question left unasured. When calling multiple pets, the current 'max number of pet levels' and 'max level of pets' is combined into the one number? or isn't there a 'max number of pet levels' anymore... allowing mch's to call 3 lvl 30+ creatures?

Also a suggesstion for +1 pet in management 3.... maybe instead of granting this at Management 3, the skill could be spread across all tier 3 ch branches. i.e.:

Taiming 3 grants .25
Training 3 grants .25
Empathy 3 grants .25
Manage 3 grants .25

Then once all 4 are lit, you can use +1 pet. Leave the current exp system in tact. Cuz gaining those tier 4 skills still takes a long time with 2 pets. But at least this way, you will only be getting double experience towards the tier 4 leafs.

This new draft of the new Creature Handler profession looks great... thanks!!

Quick clarification / question:

Thunderheart said:

"...Below level 50, creatures which are never tamable will be the exception rather than the rule. Creatures 60+ will be very, very rare...."

Did you mean that creatures below level <=50 will spawn babies... that will the be the rule, not the exception? (ie. we will be very able to tame all the creatures 50 and below... they will allspawn babies now??)

Pt 3TH: I have but one question.
I understand that a big part of what caused this was the ability of the dabblers to pick up uber-level pets, and perhaps most specifically the Graul Mauler, with a very low expenditure of Skill Points. The problem was people that went up the Taming and Training lines while ignoring everything else until they could use such heavy-tanking pets.

Well, with your new Skilltrees (version 2.0) a 4/4/0/0 CH can (once again) control a mauler, unless I'm adding wrong.

This is how I see the skilltree:

+10
+5 +5 +5 +5
+3 +3 +3 +3
+2 +2 +2 +2
+2 +2 +2 +2
+12

If you add up taming and training 4, you get 12+4+4+6+10 = max CL36, which leaves a 2 CL overhead for using the CL34 graul mauler.

Just wondering if that was intentional.

ingi hope u give the ppl who spent millions and months of collecting the cash get a warning if u plan to bring back one specific pet(looks like a spider) i trust u dont take away the rarist of the rare and destroy their market value . I trust that if u do you compinsate the ppl with them in their datapad i would hate to know my 4 million credit pet it worth 50k tops. I will gamble and see what happpens but i am currently turning down offers for insane amounts of credits. I hope u dont make regret trying to save up money for something that accually is rare in the game .I hope you realize that you determine the retail value of the pets u dont destroy months of credit hunting with out at least offering something for our efforts.

ingSo basically non-creature handlers are getting the shaft and will be unable to use one decent pet, but master creature handlers will have almost the exact same capability they already have. Why do you even bother to attempt to balance the game if you are unwilling to bring anyone up to the level of creature handler or bring creature handlers down to the level of everyone else?

Just to clarify, based on the latest proposed skill trees, mount training is under mgmt4? I'm thinking, even if dev nerf the xp from 2 pets in mgmt3, the mgmt tree (ie 2 pet and mount training) will be too "hot" as compare to the empathy tree. How abt putting mount training to empath4 so as to make the tree more useful?

On top of that, will it be better to spread the "stored pet" to all 4 tree instead of just the training tree, and spread the commands in the other 3 trees to all the 4 trees, making all 4 trees equally impt?

TH,

I wanted to say thanks for listening to our concerns, keep up the good work!

And also for keeping the patrol command(s) in game - I always have my Giant vermok patrol my house on naboo when i am at home , looks also cool having2 GSL's circeling you while you are fishing hehe.

After all, I think these incomming changes will be good for all, especially if the faction ranks get more useful

ingOK, for non-CHers out there that think CH is way overpowered.

For a Ch to solo high level creatures you need some support skills, either a pure combat class and/or medic. CH on its own is not overpowered. A MCH/Dancer is soloing anything very powerful. All pets, even the vaunted rancor, has no armor piercing abililty. This means that attacking high powered mobs take forever because only a small portion of the damage is getting through. I have novice pistoleer to use healthshot2. This is my number one damage dealing ability, as Im sure is true for many other CH's out there. I am surprised this isn't being nerfed at the same time. I also have some doctor skills to help me make better stims in order to keep my pets alive long enough for the bleed to do its work.
Yes, I can solo many things other people cannot, is it because im a Master Creature handler, no, its because im a MCH/Pistoleer/Doctor and have figured out how to play this game, as have many other people. Even so, I prefer to group with one or two pure combat classes for the vast amount of damage they can do. I also like having a ranger in my group because of the tracking abililty. I think of CH as a combat profession, while the devs call it a support profession. Im starting to think they are right, as MCH on its own doesnt really compete aganst a pure combat class, at least in PvE. PvP is another story, but i belive if pets were subject to the 75% reduction as players, that would balance things out quite a bit. Not completly, but at least my pet rancor isnt tearing through rebels in one or two hits, thus giving you a chance to be healed or get away.
Now, as an example, i would like to use a dark jedi knight I fought a couple of days ago. He had a 24k ham, Heavy armor, and 90% to all resist. He seemed to hit for around 2300 each time with his lightsabre. Now, I used my 2 graul maulers, and attacked him. Then, I hit him with healthshot1 and 2. For the next 5 mins or so, I proceeded to heal my maulers constantly, while periodically restarting the bleed.
Ok graul maulers have a damage of 330-340, no armor piercing. So this is the damage the maulers did, 340 x .5 x.5 x.5 x .1 = 4.25.

4.25 damage from each mauler every 2 seconds. Wheres the power here? This must be considered when thinking of a CH's power. Tank is not the right word, meatshield is.

24000/2 maulers = 12000
12000/4.25 = 2823 hits by one graul mauler
2823 x 2seconds = 5646 secoonds
5646/60 = 94.1 minutes

Again, I ask where the power is?

Before too long, I ran out of mind to keep my pets healed. They dropped very quickly after that. The dark jedi knight was down to around 1/5 health. I thought I did quite well. I believe with one other person, be it a good medic or a high level combatant, the dark jedi knight would have fallen. Without using healthshot1 and 2, the knight would have been at close to full health when I was no longer able to heal my pets. Without good stimpaks this battle would have lasted about 20 seconds. You tell me where the power is. I was able to do this because I dabbled/exploited two other professions. Not because Im a MCH. On a side note, Im not sure if a dark jedi knight coul dbe beaten without pets, seeing as how he incapacited me with my 1k health bar and light armor due to personal shield generator. Im thinking a group of 20 will go down in 20 swings. I could be wrong about this, due not having tried it. Please, tell me where the power is.

If you think CH's are crying because of a proposed nerf, your wrong, we're still crying over the last beating we took from the nerf. Si, if seeing that bright green foam bat looming in the darkness of our futures causes some anxiety, you'll just have to be patient with us.

In my opinion, the only real way to fix the problem with pets is too remove the profession entirely. Anything else will just be a half answer, if the limb has gangrene, you must amputate, nothing else is acceptable.
