TH, can you talk more about the upcomming combat changes?

will BHs have incentive to use pistols other than the scatter or fwg5?

will every rifleman still use a t21 or jawa ion rifle?

han solo, a smuggler, used a dl-44 heavy blaster (i think?). will you provide reasons to use other pistols for smugglers and pistoleers, other carbines for carbineers, etc?

other than making some new "uber pistol" and giving all master pistoleers a cert for it?

Lastly... Holocrons... it does not work that way ( in EU at any rate a Holocron would always be silent for a Non-Force Adept )... on top of that is has utterly distroyed most of the gaming economy. I had a favorite Weaponsmith to go to... we shared many adventures together but a Blue Box convinced him to give up something he loved and try something new. Needless to say he hated hair designing but as fate would have it he had already sacrificied all of the boxes he did enjoy and did not wish to "grind" it up again. Find another way for this... time spent... maxing exp of all your trees once a Master of your chosen profession... anything, I really don't care just find something else.

On an note:

On Tempest the largest city on Dantooine, Vesnia, was a Metropolis next to the Crystal Caves. Two days after the Xmas give away 95% of traffic stopped. Two weeks later it stayed that way. I moved my characters at the three week point out of the city due to literally ZERO traffic other than grinding beggars. Yesterday the city collapsed and the mayor deleted her character.

My characters invested over 30 million into that city and it was thriving up to that point. We had plans for new bases going in an quite a few other extras. All gone now. Yeah, thanks for the Xmas present SOE. Really appreciate all this fun.

On a brighter note, moved to old friend's place in SiN City on Dantooine and business is booming. Funny how SOE always jumps when people whine about grievers but doesn't think twice of doing it to us.

A few suggestions...

Make a FARM as a type of harvester so doc's can get avian and herb meat without having to beg thier entire PA to go out hunting for them.

Then what will us rangers do???

The point is that Rangers aren't really doing the job now. First, there aren't enough of them. I know know of one on my entire server. Second, they aren't hunting a large enough quantity. I need stacks of meat in the thousands. Third, they're charging outrageous fees. 35 cpu, for a resource which comprises 22% of a pet stim, consumes nearly 85% of the overall cost of the stim. I'd rather spend a few hours hunting on my own than pay a Ranger the prices they're asking. My opinion, you've priced yourselves out of business. When I was a ranger, I used to fill massive orders for Tatooinian wooly hide for a Master Tailor I knew. I charged 4 cpu. Period. Made a fortune doing so, without the need to force her to pass on exceedingly high costs to her customers.

Can we say it ENOUGH!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

THEY PRICED THEMSELVES OUT OF THE BUSINESS.

Rangers need to realize that as in RL, game life has a point of diminishing returns. I was a doc and a pistoleer. The rangers on Tempest got to the point where they were wanting 30-40 cpu for bone and meat of ANY kind. So, packed in pistoleer and going the TKA path. Lemme tell you, Dath insects are a lot easier to farm now!

I've sat for HOURS helping rangers get XP in camps. Later I've seen the same rangers charging outrageous prices for meat bone and hide. There is a point of diminishing return and I believe most of Tempest has reached it with rangers and the ilk charging to the point of absurdity for harvesting.

As for the farm idea, not a chance.

BH doesn't need tweaking it needs fixed, We're underpowered for the amount of useless skill points we require, We have no defence at all. We have no extra skill points and we're still being killed in PVP by commando's and TKM even pistoleers. Our missions are broken, our droids suck. Did anyone put any effort into this profession at all? what is the deal here

TH could you please update the Architect forum on the status of ArchAngel? He seems MIA and the natives are getting restless .

Also, please ask that dev that took a tour of the professions a couple of days ago, to reck our forum for a current "updated" thread.

Thank you.

I want to ask why they have hurt the faction pets so badly. What is the point to only having one pet out, and you can't trade it, nor can it attack anything but a faction enemy? What is the point in them?

--

TH,

First time, long time. Please keep up the good work.

Observation: Improving the faction pets and bases is great. Thanks.

Question: Will you do anything to make facition pets and bases more sensitive to attacking coverts? Even with improved (i.e. stronger) faction pets and bases, they don't do much good when they can't defend bases against attacking coverts. We have this happen a few times a day. A covert walks in and blasts the base to Alderaanwhile the AT-STs and Stormtroopers stand there like a maitre'd. We even have pulled our own faction pets and they too won't attack. Seems like a key missing piece to the faction pet/base improvement.

Thanks!

Well, I've spent the morning reading this thread and the DE forums. I see that everyone prefers the idea of Droid certifications. I do as well, but there are some combat balance problems.

I dont know what decision will be made but I have told them that the community:

  • Clearly doesnt like the idea of a DH profession

  • Prefers the idea of Droid Certifications

I spoke to Blair about all the pain on this issue and we're going to have Runsabre put up an uberpost this afternoon.

Sure thing

I really do read them. The biggest challenge I face is that it takes a few moments to post and days/weeks/months to develop game items. The time in-between is where all the action is.

My hope is that with the new dev cycle, the passage of time will be clearer for everyone.

Im going to start posting In-Concept items today for the Combat Balance and the GCW. The development on those items will take a while, so we'll see how it shakes out this time around.

Any word from Lithium on getting your posts to show up in DevTracker again? It really hurts not being able to see them there.

"The point, specifically, is use faction pets against faction targets in the GCW. It is meant as a faction perk. We had to put the additional restrictions on them to prevent a considerable amount of exploit and grief. The one pet limit prevents dramatic unfair advantages. It is prevented from trade because you earned it and many times people want to pass pets to PA members and other sorts of group associations who didn't put in the effort. Except for CH's, all players are limited to Level 10 pets...except the AT-ST which is a considerably higher level.

With that being said, in the next publish, you'll see an increase in HAM and DoT resistances which will make them much more useful. Over the course of the next year, we'll be rebuilding the GCW from the ground up, giving you many more faction targets."----Thundarheart

I can agree with limiting faction TROOPS to faction missions. They should not, however be considered "creatures" or "pets".

Wouldn't you say that a Non-CH that has high enough rank in a chosen factionto have purchased at least 3 TROOPS is at a considerable disadvantage in PvP when a CH can have out 3 Non Faction pets do fight with?(assuming they are both overt.)

"The one pet limit prevents dramatic unfair advantages."----Thundarheart

I do not see the logic in this statement. By doing this to factionTROOPS the DEV's have given every advantage to CH's and all weakness to Non CH during factional fighting.

I have busted my tail getting faction points to purchase these TROOPS. I have aquired a midlevel ranking position in the rebellian, and I can only command 1 TROOP? I hope there are some changes on the drawing boards that will be implemented soon. There is absolutly no logic in doing this and if griefing is a concern than why bother letting CH's have out more than one pet? They are just as capable of griefing other players as well as sombody useing faction TROOPS.
