Just thinking about something that made me laugh. What is the generic 'insert lame ass excuse' responseto balances needed in the game now that the devs have used up the 'combat balance' lie? Imcurious as to what they have to say in response. Will it be just nothing at all (as it usually is), or will they come up with something new to sweep the broken game mechanics under the carpet? Lets see what type of responses (ie. bull$hit) the devs try to shovel when answering questions from now on. Post them here if you like. Itll be good for a laugh.

BTW, great compilation Severan. Its like a mosaic of bull$**edit**. If you look at the responses from TH, it honestly looks like he believed a combat balance was coming, unless he is just incredibly skillful at lying. I would have loved to have seen behind the curtain on how this happend, and how they let it get to this point.

anna,

well duh, it's a game. That was never the question. And yes it's a living breathing type of game. The issue (in case you missed it) is that MMO's are typically "player-input" types of games. The MAJORITY of players have issues with the PvP aspect of the game and "balance" between professions. The MAJORITY of devs have issues with the PvP aspect of the game and "balance" between professions.

It's been this way since at least last Oct, if not earlier.

SOE recognized this and we were promised CB. We havebeen told to"wait for CB" concerning the VAST majority of our questions on "game play"for over 8 months now, and it looks like we get to hear that answer for another 6 months or so before we even start to see work being completed on this.

This game ISONLY 2 things. Combat related AND Combat-Support related. Notice how Combat is pretty much the center of the entire game. We see the weakness, SOE sees the weakness, We know it needs to be fixed, SOE agrees it needs to be fixed due the NATURE of this game.

The reason we even post this crap is because we WANT this game to succeed and be around for many years to come. It is far more irritating to constantly lose in-game friendsdue to "avoidable"disappointment (or lack of faith in SOE) than it is to hear another "wait-a-few-more-months" statement.

It's interesting that you characterize the structure of the game as mostly "combat/combat-support". I'd tend to agree with you, but also realize that this game attempted to pioneer the most complex player-based economy of any MMORPG to date. Creating an entire economy from scratch using only player-created items was a bold step by SOE.

In retrospect, while the crafting system is second-to-none in its immersiveness, I think it's clear that SOE tried to do to much at once. Creating such a complex crafting environment AND a complex combat environment are each hard enough to accomplish by themselves, let alone together in the same game. Make no mistake, there are lots of people who play this game never havingparticipated in any sort ofcombat....for them, the game is all about the crafting and taking pride in their wares.Between resource management, storage, factories, vendors, etc. etc., there is plenty to keep someone busy.

But every MMORPG is really defined by their combat systems/professions. That's just how it is. And I think SOE placed too much reliance in the fact that they thought they'd have a more"balanced" population of combat/crafting professions. It just doesn't work that way. Most people, at the core, wanna blast stuff. At least a little. Now we're stuck with broken combat professions, borked PvP, useless GCW, blah blah ad nauseum etc etc...I don't know where the game is headed, but if we're driving along the MMORPG highway, I can see a huge truck bearing down on us....and that truck has the letters "WoW" on its front grill.

I agree with your post. They used to have the most complex and immersive player economy. Then they got the bright idea to release holocrons to "save" the game (if you remember that at Christmas time they had hemmoraged about 100k+ accounts) and effectively destroyed the player economy. Another solid move on their part. I'm starting to wonder if they've got the kids that rode the shortbus to school making the decisions. lol

I really haven't got a clue what's going on any more with this game, I have been looking at Top 5 lists and listening to people constantly back track since I started while enduring the glaringly obvious bugs and feeble to non-exsistant customer service you people provide..

Can someone please tell me what exactly I am paying for here ? All I see is half a development team at best, a busted beta version of a game and customer service which would rather ban my account than answer a simple quesion about the faulty product I was sold ?

Or is this just a sick joke and you guys are going to give me a full refund ?

Well, I guess I'll get a word in here, I just hope someone is paying attention to this thread. I've been a software engineer for over 10 years, so you will not find me unappreciative of what has been accomplished with the game as a whole.Anyway, the server I play on , Corbantis, has been quite empty the past few days and it's pretty sad. Putting off overdue promised fixes to the ground game in favor of an expansion is an interesting decision. I've been through all the "usual" corporate BS in my career, and I can imagine what must be going on at SoE. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the people making money decisions are concerned that delaying JTLS will impact budget projections, which = people in trouble with the guys upstairs. When I first saw this thread I figured many people were talking big but would finish their rant and go log anyway. What I have seen the past few nights in terms of empty starports, etc confirms the exodus however. I hadn't been planning to leave as a result of this announcement directly, however now I must consider the fact that an empty server really diminishes the game. The in-game economy is already affected, I have been seeing lone doctors selling sub-par 20k buffs in the Coronet starport due to a lack of competition. As a player,I think JTLS should be put on hold immediately and all available resources directed at making things right in the ground game. As a professional, I realize that the chances of that happening are slim to none in the real world. A week or so ago, I found myself telling my buddies at work that I had no interest in World of Warcraft. Now I can't help but think it may be the only option. I would really prefer SWG however, so I just hope SoE can take a giant leap in community service and listen to the subscriber base on this one...

Ok folks I have some breaking news: According tothis guy,in an interview on Gamespot.comit is said that theCB and GCW revamp will take one year to be made so don't hope to see it happen soon. Haven't had time to confirm it yet but I'm going to check it out soon. I just hope this is a big joke because if it's real, I might not be here long enough to see a dev answer...

TH, I challenge to put up a vote for this to the player base instead of having to read all the cancellations. It disheartening to see so many people leave. I have been encouraging others to stick it out or to come back cause its getting better. Reading this post really hurt. A very good friend of mine may never come back to play again cause the gameisnt engaging enough for him. EQ is still the game for him. Is SOE trying to match the 3yrs it took to get EQ properly going? Are we going to see a SWG2 when SWG is finally fixed? A majority of the community seem to want the combat balance and the GCW revamp more than anything. I have to agree. I was excited about JTL, I even applied for beta. But after reading this Id rather have CB and GCW revamp first not later. The base of the game is whats important not JTL. It still amazes me to see things broken since beta and launch.

Heres hoping for goodnews...

I counted 30 account cancellations in the first 10 pages of replies in the original thread.

Think about it...

Well folks, over half of Monday is gone and it's plain as the nose on your face, that after 140+ pages of outrage in 2 days they have no intention of changing their minds, and no intention of listening to their customers.

As a final goodbye Sony.

Aye, they're not going to respond. Just as TH's post was a chicken *hit move, they will be chicken *hits to the end. I really do believe now that they perceive in their minds that they are making the greatest MMO ever. How a group of people can be so blinded by sheer stupidity, and utter ignorance is beyond me. But hey, the Nazi's convinced the German ppl that they had it under control so I guess it's plausible to believe that the Dev's really are this *ucking stupid. See ya **edit**heads. Thanks for taking a ready made forumula for success and monkey**edit**ing it into oblivion.

Star Wars + MMO= greatest game ever

Star Wars + MMO + Swg Devs = total debacle

Hey TH, do they give you a big spoon to stir that gigantic crock of **edit** in the middle of the SOE office, or do they make you use your hands?

Hehe. As I go to Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, etc, I have been taking SWG off of the shelves and hiding it throughout the store, in neatlittle obscure areas, with little Post-It notes. Imagine what they say...

LMAO!

As much as I hate SOE/SWG at this very moment, please don't take it out on the retailer. By the end of the night, we have to have the stores in some semblance of order, and I don't want to have to stay after closing because some pissant decided to hide SWG boxes all over the store. It's one of those few things that make me want to bust someone's balls with a baseball bat.
