Thunderheart,

I suggest the following be considered as a temporary solution.

Poisons and diseases should play a smaller, secondaryrole in all of Star Wars PvP.

The looted weapons and schematics should stop having godly poisons or godly diseases.

Once again, poisons and diseases should play a smaller, secondaryrole in all of Star Wars PvP.

  • 75% PvP reduction on CM poisons/diseases in PvP.

  • Hard cap on looted strength and potency of poisons and diseases for looted weapons.

    • Strength? Probably never greater than 150.

    • Potency? Probably never greater than 100.

  • Master Fencer to have a total of +20 Defense vs. KD and +20 Defense vs. Posture Change. This wouldhelp mitigate defense stacker problems (bring them in-line with the rest of the melee professions)while not hurting thenon-defense stackingfencers.

This might be atemporary solution until the combat revamp happens.

However, no matter what, I suspect 50% of the players won't be with thecombat balance.

I agree with this, he gets promoted and the game goes to he11 in a handbasket a few days later.

That'll look good on his record.

Bad move I think. Jump to Lightspeed is very important but right NOW you have a very lackluster broken ground game on your hands. Most of us have spent the past year dealing with the bugs, quick fix features, an unimaginitive additions. An of course lots of nerfs/revamps. I think we ALL just want this game to work like it was supposed to from day 1. An I think your priorities as a Dev team have always been around implementing new stuff before you fixed old stuff. That was a mistake in the long run because now here we are with lots of features but most of the underlying game mechanics are borked.

PvP in your game is horrible. The neat Force Ranking System you spent a month putting in sucks because even as a Jedi PvP still sucks.

PvE is getting retarded. Grouping is unnessary for anything but pulling high level missions for more money. Or the help clear the one single dungeon in the entire game hard enough to provide a challenge. An its only hard because it takes so long to kill one enemy that your **edit**ing buff's run out before you can kill them. LOL

The Combat Balance is above ALL else the MOST important thing you need to do. Work on it now an get this stuff on Test Center for all of us to test. Let all of us that dont make it into JTLS beta test the ground Combat Balance instead. Throw in some neat incentives so people participate. But get to work on it. Quit throwing around combat change ideas on paper an get this stuff in the game. Your game is dying. I log in everday an the world feels dead. No community just armored melee hermits coming in to town occasionally for buff's then going back out into the wild. Dont get me wrong JTLS is important. Its the reason I bought this game but as for THIS game. I would probably return it to the store if I could in the state its in now.

Thunderheart,

Ok man, its yer time to shine. Ye have some good intentions with yer message and let's see it get carried out. Thou it seems it will have to be done in very accelerated manner.

Basically, the CombatBalance will have to bedealt with. Resources will need to be allocated, perhaps a 5 person team that have the capability to get the rulesets designed, implemented, and tested. The chain of command will be arranged to allow for accelerated changes to be done.

So:

- Have the conference with the Correspondants and provide to them the rulesets of the Combat Balance as it now exist.

- Make the changes with the rulesets and have another conference; if needed make the changes once again and have one last conference (conferences can continue throughout the time-table).

- Let the small team get to work with the rulesets.

- Announce to theCommunity of the rulesetsabout the Combat Balance and the expected time-table.

- The small team should be pumping out these new changes in two week increments, or mini-publishes as they have been called. For example, Disarm1 and Disarm2 have been completed for Pistoleer, along with some minor changes to armor. Nothing grand and great, but its something.

- Keep the community informed of the progess being made.

- Continue with this until more resources can be allocated to complete the Combat Balance.

Pros:

- Still allows the majority of the resources to work with JTL.

- A showing to the community that progress is being made to the Combat Balance and the other promises.

- A progress of work I believe will be a better aproach than some wholelistic method that we the customers have waited for.

- The system is broken and out of balance, adding more changes may unbalance certain professions, but only for a short period.

This of course isn't the only means to solve this issue, just another idea that hopefully can be fused with others or provide someone an idea for something that we all can live with.

Great Job guys,

Not only have you (the developers, management, powers that be)not listened to the player base, but you put the $$ before the players. You'd rather try to get a new set of subscribers than to fix the game and keep those that have faithfully stood by the game, as buggy as it was, until now. By making that decision, you've lost a lot of your players. We're done with it. I can forsee a 60% increase in cancelled accounts. Mine will be at the end of the billing cycle..I'm not paying for a broken game and the continued spewing of lies to appease us. Actions speak a lot louder than words. If you want the community to grow, then post pone JTL and do the Combat Balance NOWAND fix the game. No one wants the JTL over having the game fixed. I believe that I would get majority support on that. Not only have you betrayed us again, but then you try to control the damage by locking the thread or deleting all of the posts (more than 65 pages of negative responses). That's not the actions of those who care about the player base. You'd rather scrape it under the carpet and cover it up instead of addressing the issues in the game. That should be the first priority.

Thanks for screwing us again and ruining a game that could have been the best MMORPG out there. Instead, it'll fall by the wayside...until it is forgotten.

I disagree that add-ons, tweaks, and narrow focus nerfs are the way to go. The last time they tried to fix CM's it made things worse. I was just using 80m poisons because i was lazy. I can still kill almost anyone and i'm now doing it faster because i changed from experimenting on range to experimenting on effectiveness. It added 100pts to my poisons. With 38s/90b armor and a good psg i don't get touched anyway, I just make things harder on doctors.

I'd call that a bad fix. What they have now is a house of cards. The more they pile on the top the less stable is its. It will fall (might have already actually) and the only way to really fix things is to re-design the whole combat/ham system. SOE agrees. If they didn't there'd be no reason for a combat balance on the schedule for next year.

I give anyone on starsider my entire inventory is Thunderheart has the guts to come back and post in this thread. He won't , I doubt he'll even read this or email this thread to his superiors.

AND THAT IS WHY THIS GAME IS CURRENTLY FAILING

Lack of simple communication. They don't care what we want. As long as we pay our 15$ a month whether we have content and fixes per month is pointless. As it stands now, I simply can't be a part of this anymore. They have until the end of August and then I'm gone. And that's really sad. Because people like me are DIE-HARD loyalists. I'll stick with something when it does what I need it to. But as it is now, why am I paying for 2 accounts to not have fun?

Honesltly, I have more fun with SWG when I sit on the can and think of all the cool things they could do with the game. And that's pathetic SOE. I have more fun w/ SWG in my head while I'm taking a ****........

They think because that games says "Star Wars"we'll buy into it. And in the begining.....they were right but things are too messed up. And now I ahve to wait 2 more years?

And yes, it WILL be two more years. They have to realease JtL. Then spend a year patching that. THEN spend 6+ months compiling "lists" from correspondents. Then 6 months to get it to live.

Screw it, Im going to try City of Heros for a while. It doesn't have NEARLY as many things to do in that game, but the things you can do WORK.

I'd have to counter that.

Someone has unlocked this thread.

Someone is on our side.

And someone does read these posts and relays the info back.

Hopefully this afternoon we'll have an official comment.... 'cause one is needed, badly.

We need to remember that if we do nothing about this then SOE will do nothing to change it. If we continue to let SOE ignore us veteran players then they will! If we just talk then so will SOE.
I urge each and every one of you send an email to any games review website or magazine you can think of and tell them what you think about this. If only 10 people from each server send an email it will be enough. Stop talking and send an email. SOE hopes this will all die down in a few days and thinks we are just blowing off steam by posting here. If you do nothing then you prove them right. Lets send a message to SOE and show them WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED!
Here are some email addresses to send to:
GameInformer Online: [email protected]
Computer Games Online: [email protected]
Here is a sample letter if you dont want to spend the time to write your own:
To Whom it may concern,
I have been a long time player of SOE's online game Star Wars Galaxies. I understand all online games have their share of problems. Myself and many other players have been very patient with SOE in the past. Many things were broken with the game and many features the developers and promoters hyped up were not included at the games launch, (vehicles and player cities) but we were happy to have the game and we played through hopeing things would get better. Over the last year the game has been patched and updated and many problems have been solved but combat has always been an issue in the game from the start. Last year in November we were told that combat was to be revamped and it was a priority with the developers. At FanFest this summer the developers continued to tell us the combat revamp was a priority and there were two different teams of devs, (one fore the revamp and one for the jump-to-lightspeed expansion) working on these issues. Just a few days ago we were told that the combat revamp had been pushed back almost six more months in favor of having both the dev teams work on the jump-to-lightspeed expansion. The announcment can be found here:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Developers&message.id=39804
The original announcement reached over 65 pages in less than 30 hours and the devs pulled it to "archive" it and then started this new thread. Many of us veteran players feel that SOE cares nothing for us and they are only interested in bringing in new people to play so they can bring in more money. We can not understand why SOE continues to make changes in the game that continue to make the game less and less like star wars and more and more like EQ in space. Currently the melee combat professions (swordsman, pikeman and unarmed fighters) continue to dominate the game. The path to jedi was revealed and everyone given holocrons at christmas and that started a huge portion of the players to drop professions and grind new ones in order to open their jedi slots. A new jedi ranking system was put into place recently and now jedi's roam the cities on murder rampages to get points for killing other players even if they are playing light (good) jedi. The game used to have large battles of rebel vs imperials on Tattooine but once SOE started making changes that has all gobe away. Now most people do not dare declare their faction for fear some jedi will kill them for the needed points. We have lived through these issues and have tried to be very patient with the developers but the galactic civil war is now non existent. We have been lied to by the developers on many occasions and we fell this is the final straw.
I hope by writing to you that you or someone in your organization can look into the current situation with the game and help us players by writing a story about our plight. Please check out the following links below and see how outraged we the players are at this latest poor decision on SOE's part. I am sure you will see that the overwhelming response by the players truly shows how deeply hurt we are by SOE's actions. Help us to help online game makers realize they can not continue to lie to players and hope we will stand idlely by and just keep handing them our monthly fee.
Sincerely,
blah blah blah

They would have to be mad men to jump on here and take the hell TH is getting. Infact that is probabally the reason none of them have posted all weekend. They have no idea what to say. Especially since we are not buying the lies anymore. All they can do now is come on and say it was nice knowing you.

No response because there is no response. They accepted loseing us weeks ago. The joke will be when they realize how many people multi account. When alienating one alienates three accounts three sources of income. That is when sony will listen. For months people have left this game with a nasty taste in their mouth. Some people will say well every game has people that were unhappy with something, but this game is sending out a batch of people that adamantly hate this game. Who will tell everyone in details just how badly they were treated.

The result is right now in the gameing community SWG has a very bad rep. People know its not a good mmo. They just chased off their strongest supporters through deception and mis appropriation. You have a game system that requires player moderation for content. Most of the strongest content providers in this game are leaveing. The game has lost its multiplayer appeal one hundred percent. The children and returners they bated in are not loyal and will leave on them toot sweet.

They already alienate a huge segment of the population with the jedi bs and now they are alienateing it further by destroying any combat balance work. When all you do is attack your customers eventually they leave. Wait a few months and perhaps you will hear about swg closeing its doors due to non use.

alex they have nobody to un nerf with. There are no devs working on swg they are all working on jtl. The patches we are seeing were nearly complete at the beginning of the year. They have just been parceling them out. CH is screwed just as most combat professions are. Sorry wait five months and we might get back to you.

My God people,

Its only a game, and one I personally enjoy with my spare time (spare time - its a game you know . I think you all need to relax, invest in some Prozac. I mean really! So your little switch doesn't work the way you want it to? who cares? just take a deep breath, have fun, and know that since July '03 (since I've been playing) things have improved 100x from where they were.

This is a living breathing game, which I think makes it fun. Think about the DE's wow has that changed to the positive since a year ago.

I can't wait to fly my own ship - Thanks for a great game SOE
