Thread: Great Expectations, Major Schedule Changes and making SWG the finest MMORPG ever

I feel like part of the problem is the developers getting too far ahead of themselves. In an attempt to appease everyone and keep everyone playing and happy, they draft a development schedule that goes on into, what, early next year? Promising all these things that are too come is only going to create unrealistic expectations of when people will get their changes.

I was always taught that if you're gonna do something, do it right.

So how about this Devs?

ALL STOP!

Re-assess priorities by doing what players want to see changed first.

Then - do it.

Before making any promises about other things, before making plans to incorporate this, that and the other.

Do one thing, at once - make sure it works and everyone is happy with it - then move on.

Thunderheart dont take this the wrong way but you are nothing but a big tool and Im done with this mindphuck of a game. Im really dissapointed in this whole team and not coming back ever when sub. ends this month. Until then Ill log on, get buffed, and solo 99 percent of the game and then you know what Ill get rebuffed and try to pvp until I find a CM/fencer/@ssclown hybrid who has the leet skills to pown every player in history at one time causing every server to exploid in its own crap due to massive incapping and comedy antics.

I could care less about whoopidy-do flying half retarded ships in "space"!?!!!????!!

Yes muleing stuff from one house to another blows. The best way to do it is use backpacks. I filled up my primarys bank box today. One bag filled with my krayt tissues and advanced components for my weaponsmith. Do not want to lose those. The other filled with my armors, and spare guns. My crafting stations and structure deeds. All the most valuabe kind of stuff on my primary.

My second accounts bank box will be a mineral trove. I think I can barely fit all my minerals once I sell or destroy the bunch of skill tapes and armor tapes out of it. Hopefully in the next two days I can have it done. Then for the last week I will not log on my crafter tinker with the ch I just got the other day. Maybe tame some different critters, and slip into the oblivion of cancelled.

Why not leave a house up maxed with maint. I am not a giver of false hope to myself or to the community. Anyone notice house are disappearing?

Thank you Sony.

Thank you forruining not only Star Wars Galaxies the game but also diminishing the great thing that once was Star Wars itself. Because of your money grabbing, corporate tendancies you have ripped into a great legacy. I truly hope this move raises your stock price a quarter of a percent becuase then at least you've kept your jobs. BUT YOU'VE LOST ALL OF US!

This game has no future now. And it's not completely because of the content of the game. After being involved with SWG for over 12 months now, I can say there have been some very positive changes. However, from the original path to become Jedi, to the management path to fix a simple bug, the SWG development/management cycle is completely flawed. THAT is why this game will soon fail. THAT is why all the people that are coming back to the game will see that it has not changed and once again leave. THAT is why you have lost yet another stalwart player who hoped beyond hope for a year that you would get your act together, someone would get fired, or someone at SOE would get their skull in the upright position and LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS!

After spending so much time on the boards and in game encouraging others to "just hang on" and "wait a little longer,"you have lost me as well.

What a shame Sony.

Well, I did a little research and found out how to directly contact Rich Vogel.
I called Sony Online Entertainment. They have a directory assistance. You punch in the last three letters of the person's last name (VOG), and they connect you to them. All I got was his voice mail, but I left him a message telling him that I was disheartened by JTL coming before the combat balance. I suggest everyone else do the same.
Here's the phone number -
(858)577-3100
Choose Option Two for Directory Assistance.
Punch in "VOG" or "864"
You will be connected to Rich promptly. If he's not there, you'll get his voice mail.
Perhaps calling in person can persuade the SOE higher ups that this is a bad decision for the game.
This is not harrassment of a SOE employee. It is another outlet myself and others can take to tell SOE about what we think about the changes to the development schedule. This information is intended and used for a positive means of communication between SOE and its customers.

They consider this a part of their "core system" that they didn't have time to finish. Well I agree Star Wars means more with space added. However I wasnt Promised that when i bought my original Box title..I WAS promised a GCW of substance and meaning. I challenge you to state that it is either of those.

At first I thought that ye have opposed me and was thus ready to slap ye and accept yer challenge to a duel.

But now after readin' yer post a second time, I see we both have the same mutual feelin's.

I have the same frustration to this broken promise as me prior posts will confirm this. That last post of mine with regards to some form of financial compensation was a brainstormin' idea to provide a meansto us, the customers some form of compensation.

JTL has top priority, it will not be delayed.

Should available resources not be allocated to the Combat Balance, then somethin' will need to be done. What that be 'actly I dunno, hence the tossin' out of ideas.

Be pro-active and come up with solutions.

Discounts, rebates, free month passes, etc; may sound possible, but I don't even see such a possibility from SOE's pov. Me ideas alone will not work, but someone readin' from 'em, may get that "Ah-Ha" and come up with a viable solution for the majority of us to accept.

I, me'self do not see buyin' a $30-$40 expansion pack that will be buggy to a buggy core system, along with the monthly payment.

Cancelled my account a few days ago. CB and GCW revamp after JTL is simply unacceptable. What am I supposed to do untill october? PvP is broken, I can solo anything...you guys should've fixed the core game before adding an expansion. Bad mistake, imo. I may be back, depends if you fix the issues that have been problems for so long. To be honest, i'm not optomistic.

What have SOE and the dev's done since launch that would indicate that what they say they will do will actually happen. What is SWG? It is and endless beta test. Instead of implemeting new and fun ideas/things into the game all we get are profession revamps/fixes that don't deal with the the vast majority of the comminity. I guess the smuggler community must yet wait again till that broken profession is addressed. Or heck any professions cause the whole damm thing is broken. With this announcement I will not be buying JTL. Why would anyone think JTL is any different from what you have given us up untill now. This is what I see JTL to be.... another means of implementing more bugs, more exploits, and more delyas but with new graphics and eye candy. all equals out to garbage in the end...

So how about putting this on the launcher TH, so the rest of the community can voice their concerns? Surely its as important as your promotion, no?

Well, we shouldn't expect anything less from SOE. Money first, screw everything else. If nothing is heard in the next few days another cancelled, I see better on the horizon.

I don't know who to even blame for this fiasco. The dev team for writing a program that needs more bandaids per minute than Windows 1.0, the management team that can't develop a concept that can be realistically implimented, the poor fool who has to always deliver the bad news, or me for being stupid enough to believe in you folks just because the title of the game has "Star Wars" in it.
You all disgust me. You know as well as I that this game has NEVER been fun even in the weakest sense. I believe the only reason the majority of your suscribers haven't left (including myself) was in the hopes that you could live up to all your community letter pillow talk. This game wasn't released too early, it should have never been released! Now, instead of patching and tweaking the game like other MMOs, you have to REWRITE CORE CHUNKS OF THE GAME.
On the subject of JTL, too little too late. There are too many new games coming out from companies with much better track records for producing solid products. JTL has no hope for succeeding. It's all over.
SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLED!

No way on earth I could disagree with anything in this post.

Well Said

Especially the last part. Mine was cancelled on Friday (both of them). At this point, they will probably remain cancelled and I will never buy another SOE POS as long as I live.

I also have 2 accounts and am questioning wether to leave or not, truth is ive made friends here last night i logged on while fixing another pc for someone and I realised that lately ive been logging on to just talk to friends and that most of them are just doing the same thing, we all agree we are bored most of the time, while some say it will change when jtl comes out I have to laugh at the naivetity they show ive been here since aug 03 and i know the truth it will be lame after the newness is over and the devs will be tryen to add content there also while tryen to add content in swg too lol im seeing bad times ahead for all. I had 2 ingame friends downloading free beta games yesterday because they see the writing on the wall swg will fail it will be some time for it though as people leave new people will come but after magazines, word of mouth, web pages .... start publishing the real story here even new subscribers will stop comming. I believe its allready too late to save this game from ruin, will i stay im not sure probably not till xmas if the devs dont change theyr attitudes soon and actually start listening and understand what people expect. I travell through a lot of forums and all proffesions have complaints and that is expected but the solutions ive seen the devs come up with for the minor problems create larger ones ID stat migration for an example they didnt want it got it an dont want to do it and we all run around stuck for days or weeks looking for one. hmmm the devs should not have wasted theyr time on that one it was never asked for and they had no foresite into the ramifications, its classic soe swg developement do it then say damn we messed up ah fix that oh damn the fix messed this up oh crap leave it for another day or year we need to move on. Yes the game is boring, yes we stay for the title, friendships and the hope of better days. small distractions wont work for long and jtl is just that a distraction, a distraction from our boredome and a distraction from our game developement in swg occupying the devs time up while we sit for whats becoming a depressingly long and dying hope that we can get through the bad days and fun is around the corner hmm fun good word wish it existed in soe dictionary.

1. fun means choice not forcing emmersion an grouping for anything remotely challanging like bunkers newer one that is.

2. jedi's are slowly ruining the game i really hate to say this but its true solution move them all and when you open fs move them too all to another server and let them pvp or whatever as they like I made a mistake when i believed i wanted to be one an play with friends on my main server. all jedis do is grind for xp and then when strong enough group with others (jedi) and kill any overt faction enemies they see, overt people are disapearing from the game again move them to another server and have it be called jedi wars server and im not joking the jedi grind then publishes have totally ruined this game and will continue to hurt it except for advertising and sucking in a few newbies who will learn the truth an leaves it is and has been a main problem here for over 6 months.

3 start listening to us fix old bugs and problems we dont need new content when the old content is broken

4 delay jtl till june 04 and fix this game

5 please give me an excuse to stay without tryen to buy me with a free ship or a free painting or a mission i cant do even with 6 friends

6. almost there to cancelling giving it a month to see who and how they respond to all this

Here's a quick prediction.

JustG shows up and lectures us because we've been mean to TH and how hard they all work. He'll use lots of large words and end up really saying nothing.

Runesaber will show up and tell us they're going to fix things. No details. No timelines.

TH will scurry around the boards talking combat fixes....which he made sound like it was going to be something new.....maybe it's not what he normally does.....

One other thing, there's been alot of blame/flames thrown at the "devs". That's not a very precise term and it includes the designers/programmers. They didn't make the decision to get moved to JTL and to ignore the core of SWG. The producers (and accountants) made that decision. Make sure you're flaming the right people. I'm assuming of course, that the programmers are skilled and capable of doing their job. You never really know if a programmer is morethan a keyboardmonkeytill you work with them.
