I am trying to find an english translation for this, but maybe folks
who can read German can see now how very far-looking Olnigg really is:

Archiv - Ausgabe 94 vom 28.06.2003 (!)
SWG Dev-Chat 2001
have fun. or maybe not. because what was meant as a satire is becoming
reality.

It's funny I stopped playing FFXI,one of the most stableMMOGs I have ever seen, for SWG,the biggest POS I have ever seen, only because I thought the devs could turn this into the greatest game of all time.
I wounder if its too late to save my FFXI character from deletion.

Folks, today is the day, well see if the devs have balls and actually care about their customers. If we get a response, at least it will be a nice step in the right direction. Then let's see if they will admit an error

ok ok...the dev's arn't going to responed so i will do it for them.....
"We are going to delay the smuggler revamp, combat balance, wookiee armor, ect., ect., and anything else you might have wanted until after the JLS goes live. We are going to tell you it's because we want more time to work on it (hey, it's only been over a year). But what we really meen is that we want to doop you out of more money by making you hold on and buy the expantion." Come here sheep...you know you want to give us your money.

You can't keep eveerybody happy in MMORPG-communities, but this one seems to make too many people unhappy. Normally I would back up DEV because there's simply too many whiners in SWG! But for once in my life (Please God, forgive me!) I'll agree with the whining horde. BAD MOVE, SOE!
You do have a game with the potential of being the finest MMORPG ever mad so far. Your crafting system is beyond all doubt the best ever mad already. Us crafters have got a great game and then it hurts seeing you turn your back on the fighters of SWG. They also deserve a great game like we crafters got.
I'm dieing to get to play JtL and ofcourse I've signed up for the beta like all others in this community, but I could continiue to die a little longer on behalf of the combat balance. Fixing the combat balance would be like an expansion pack it self!
I could live with the combat as it is, but that's only because I'm not into PvP and I first intend to really go into combat with JtL. But were I a fighter I would probably be mad too, mad enough to cancel my account.
So please SOE, push JtL back and Combat Balance forward! And save my game from the whining mob!

I have just completed the template I wanted for my character for the second time. The Only reason I have done this is from share boredom. I am not a crafting person, and enjoy hunting pvp ect with my guild mates. How ever the current Combat Balance forces players to choose proffesions that they don't want to realy do imo just to be effective in PvP. ( IMHO ) We all know that once you get into a big fight .. the outcome of the fight is decided by how many combat medics/Riflemen the other team has.
Management/Devs you have really goto do somthing with the Combat Balance so our proffesions are not decided by a few proffesions that are so much more effective in combat, otherwise those of us who need a challenge in game will/have become bored. Once boredom kicks in .. you start looking for alternatives much as I have recently. I enjoy the concept of SWG, but without some kind of balance I feel the game is doomed, which is a shame as in years to come I guess SOE and Lucas Art may look back and THEN think about what SWG COULD of been.
I feel for all the Smugglers/Creature Handlers/Muscicians/Crafters who's main reason for staying in game is the friends they have made and not the game itself, this speaks volumes and I don't personaly require a state of the game at the moment to realise just how downhill it is travelling.
And I have to agree, to use Developers that we are currently paying for, to create a new addon that you will charge us for is equivalent to me hiring someone to do my washing, paying them £20 to do my washing, but instead they go out and do there own washing and charge me a further £20 for somthing that benefits them.
I seriously think SOE need to re-organise there management structure. Of course the company needs to make money. The company is making money, but as most greedy companys think ... they try to squeeze every last pound and dollar out of its paying customers, with no regard for there enjoyment. Hey lets start a bar .. sell flat beer, They won't know its flat beer until they buy it but hey we made a few bucks .. Bad business .. surely the customer that says wow this is great beer will bring in more customers than one saying how bad the beer is?

Thunderheart,
The title of this post if very misleading. After reading what you had to say you have lowered my expectations for the future of SWG. The development teams complete ignorance to game breaking issues will only continue to make SWG worse than it already is.
I've played this game since day one of launch. I have no faith the development team will ever see the light on this issue. Instead we can expect only more of the same (insert 4 letter word) from you and everyone at SOE.
Instead of major schedule changes you people should start thinking of major staff changes because that seems to be the only option left.

*When will devs understand that some people are not interested by Jedi ?
*TH, do you think it's fun for non-jedi players to see that 2 patches will increase Jedi profession interest, and only this profession ?
*SOE though that Jedi would save the game from lassitude .... but a lot of players get lassitude to see Jedi killing everybody easily.
*Is it legal that SOE decided to decrease the ground game development to increase the space game development , if we consider that today we are paying a subscription for developpingJTL we will have to buy after ????? How can SOE ground-game developmentteam be used on JTL ?
*Kauri server starts to be quite empty.... I hope it is because holidays...

This needs to be replaced with JEDI. The current JEDI uber template, destroys anything currently available. But, after the COMBAT NERF, opps I mean Combat Balance, things will only be worse.
Bring back Perma-Death for JEDI

Devs,
/listen
please...
We all want this game to be the finest MMORPG ever, but as it stands, it's the biggest con i've ever seen. Somehow the world has been convinced this is a good game, like the world was convinced that Episodes 1 and 2 were good movies. It's not a good game - they are not good movies. It's the price the fans have to pay for being fans of the most powerful franchise in history.
There are so many players of this game, so many people being patient, trying out the game, trying their best to help it in any way they can, because it is star wars. If it weren't Star Wars, this game would have crashed and burned by now.
You are screwing the fans over. We pay for what we are told is a great game - we try, yet we have no content, no combat system, no PvP, etc with nothing to do but grind until our perspective hopes are fulfilled, which seems never to happen. We are loyal Star Wars fans who want this to work - do it for us - please!
Hold a meeting - I hope you're having one right now - and make the changes that are needed.

It's so sad to to see SOE resort to the tactic of pushing an expansion before fixing existing content AGAIN. They did this with EQ and now they're doing it here.
I've been here since before the game started, was in Beta, but never was one for posts because sooooo many people could say what I wanted to say better than me. I made a few posts regarding Jedi because that's what I really wanted to be, but you know what? I'd rather never be one and have them fix CB and the GCW NOW then become a Jedi.
TH, Devs, SOE:
I'm really very disappointed in all of you...

Lied to yes, We have been lied to sence beta. I have been playing sence beta 3, 4 months after release i left. Why? because the problems that had been in beta were STILL there. I restarted again 3 months ago Citys and Speeders and Mounts inoh my, looked like a good start combat balance was do soon, Jedi Revamp coming as well. Well I would like to say I am disapointed by the missed deadlines, missinformation, and OUT RIGHT LYING. But It really is no surprise. You DROPED THE BALL on this one and I WILL NOT PAY TO BETA TEST YOUR UNFINISHED GAME ANYMORE, I do hope you get your head out of your *** long enough to fix what needs to be fixed. But I have lost almost all faith i have had in you, Oh and let me state I dont BLAME SOE for they are not solely to blame, I am sure there is enough blame to spread to the DEV's, SOE, and Lucas Arts. Nothing ever rests on One person or group alone. I do detect the foul stench of Marketing, as well as many low and mid and upper clueless management's Hands in the problem. But the lack of any real communication with somewhat correct deadlines is the real problem. If you read between the lines you will notice that they have not even begun to get a working foundation for the combat rebalance, AGAIN we are asked to give our ideas on what we need for the combat balance. Humm You did not get enough ideas for a basic working model after the last 6 times you asked in the past 9 months or so?that was just for Combat balance, not the100 or so times you asked for eachclass to give ideas for there class.
Canceled Again See you in 6 months to a year if you guys ever get around to FIXING THE CORE GAME instead of pushing ahead to add more contint that is broken, unneeded and unable to be used do to the BIGGEST FLAW in your design the CORE GAME.Have fun
Low post count due to the fact I was angered by the push to leavebeta (we need to start milking this CASH COW YEA-HAW)too much and learned then that posting was largely pointless as the posts only fall on deaf ears.
ArashiSR so many Expectations so few realized
