Thread: Great Expectations, Major Schedule Changes and making SWG the finest MMORPG ever

Well my final thoughts before the weekend is over is that this is indeed a defining moment for SOE management. We listen to you, we read your announcements, we play your product, you take our money. This is a black and white issue like no other. If management does listen to the dedicated player base, then they will make an announcement correcting this error, pushing JTLS off and doing the combat revamp first.
If they don't choose to do this and continue on the announced path, then this is a message which we hear you LOUD and CLEAR, which your actions are telling us: WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PLAYER BASE, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, END OF STORY, DON'T BOTHER US.
Is anyone in agreement?

I expect to hear something tomorrow. The community has never come together like thisin such opposition to a development decision in the history of Star Wars Galaxies. I hope the developers and the Sony Online Entertainment staff understand that this is the defining moment for Star Wars Galaxies.
We will watch and see how the battle ends. I am not sure what they will decide to do. I am sure that that we, people whom have never met and only know of each other as players of the same game, have decided the right course for this game.
Let us see if development choose the right course as well.
lol I think you just proved yourself wrong with this rather illogical statement. The devs made it seem like space would be part of the initial release in the early days (whether by "saying" or "promoting" ... where's the difference anyway?). The players had every right to assume that this was indeed going to be the case.
My point: It was wrong of you to attack the original poster and to totally deny the "fact" ("fact" as in information that was available back then)that space was originally supposed to be a part of the core game. Here's another quote (from the E3 2001 awards):
Best PC Game
Star Wars Galaxies (Sony Online Entertainment/LucasArts)
Far from the cacophony of the show floor, a small and non-descript 15x20 foot room hosted what was one of the most talked-about demos at the show: Star Wars Galaxies. Going into the room, most journalists were only mildly enthused by the idea of LucasArts building a persistent-state Star Wars universe. But coming out of the demo, journalists couldn't stop talking about Star Wars Galaxies…for days on end. LucasArts, in partnership with Sony Online, the creators of EverQuest, revealed a game that is epic in scope, rich in potential, and simply breathtaking to look at. Set across a span of time that encompasses all the Star Wars movies, the game will have 8 playable species and just about anything else you can think of. For instance, the brief demo included a photo-realistic C-3PO walking along the Tatooine desert, not to mention a complete space combat component that puts X-Wing to shame. While Galaxies is admittedly early in development, it only took 15 minutes in that small room to convince our judges that the force is back with LucasArts
What right did the player base have to "assume" anything the game wasn't even in beta then and if you actually watched the video you would see its not the game we are playing now. That version was running on a geforce 3 (the top of the line card of the day) with the settings maxed out, try running what we play with that card. It was also stated that the space expansion footage shown of an x-wing flying over a star destroyer would be in fact the 1st expansion of the game. Which brings me to another point of Thunderhearts post that states JTL has been in production since January (though i guess he didnt say what year). So if it has been in production since 2000/2001 why is JTL still in alpha, once again, misinformation or downright lies.
And i didnt attack the original poster, he was wrong as are you..."you" assumed it would be in the game at launch as i guess did the guy I originally posted too....and you know what they say when you ass ume. ![]()

Enough broken promises, enough lies.
No more $30 per month from me to you.
Unsubscribed, again, 7/19/04.

I have just cancelled my account. if any devs or admins want (they probably cant though) check, go right on ahead, im not bluffing like some of the people claiming they cancelled their accounts are probably doing, simply because they are in a momentary fit of rage.
Sony thinks well all get pissed, 20 people will quit, and the rest of us will cool down, hop back iinto the game, do a mission, gain some money or buildings or something, maybe raid theed or something. If you want change DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
You dont need SWG. There are other fun MMORPGS out there. A few are: city of heros (combat is extraordinarily fun) the upcoming World of Warcraft (WOW, looks very promising) amongst other already released MMOs. Explore your choices, dont give sony your money until they give you a finished product.
Everyone cancel until something is done about this. Ill be playing City Of Heros if annyone wants to join me.
/cancel (no joke)
But I don't want to quit!
I love the people in the game too much.
I want them to listen to us!
Hopefully tomorrow will tell though I really wish someone would have talked to us this weekend...
