Thread: Developing a Solution for the Faction Base Issue
Ok, so by next week, I'll find a Camp with aggro NSC (Cratures, whatever) right in front of my door (or even in aggro range), leave the house silently, get attacked and can't re-enter my house since i have killed all Enemys + 5 minutes?
Great Idea...
Can someone tell me why everyone has to suffer from a fix that is intended to help mostly the PvP Peeps, please?
If i missed an important point, then please correct me, but from what i read, I don't like the Idea to have limited access to my House because of Combat.
As a solution to this, why not simply make it impossible for anyone inside a private structure to engage in combat. Or, make it so that houses can not restrict entrance if combat is to occur with in, or from them?
Do I need to read through 9 pages of this to eventually get to....
...actual discussion on Faction Bases? Please dev, its a TEF discussion.
I would love to discuss Faction Bases....forgive me if I thought this thread was the place.
Ugh.
A 5 min faction TEF restriciton sounds resonable not to be able enter private, but should also work for structures that have admitt fee.
All critters out there do give a TEF of some kind just not faction. That way the critter/NPC group knows you are a threat and will attack you even if they are non-agro types. It also prevents you from entering a battlefield. So the system should be able to check for faction specific TEF.
I don't really see it as a problem with running cause people do that anyway with the current TEF time frame.
Let me get this strait, people are dropping houses outside of a faction base to hide in? The problem isn't with the player it's with structures. Overt structures should be attackable. Hey if I were a rebel I think I'd want to be able to destroy Imperial mining installations to stop production, and I don't see where I shouldn't be able to. A major factor in the allied victory during WWII was the constant bombing of German industry and mining. If a country cannot product the raw resources to build it's tanks then it can't win.
A Simple solution. Allow players to attack houses of opposite faction when a player with a TEF is inside. I seem to remember aomething aboutthe British buring colonial houses with people in them when the Americans were rebeling.
So here's another simplesolution... I reciently built a home of my own. And I seem to remember it taking quite a bit longer then 30 seconds to build. You want to fix this problem then make houses take longer to build, say 3 or 4 days. Once the house is down it cannot be picked up until it is built or you lose the deed. I tend to wonder what my contractor would have said if I had told him that I wanted the house turned around 50% into the construction.

I see that every day outside Anchorhead. Players hiding inside base so they can't be seen or targetted, then they pounce out on some brand new player. How heroic for the developers to come up with that exploit.
Here's a list of suggestions and exploits in action that need serious fixing.....
You could stop the flagging problem by getting rid of it entirely. Since it obviously does not work and is so broken, I wonder if it will ever work. Make it so that Coverts can't do ANYTHING. Can't heal other player, can't group with Overts, etc, etc. I'd even be willing to see you guys make it so that you would have to be Overt to do faction missions. What's the point of being Covert and being flagged? That makes absolutely no common sense. If you're flagged as Overt, you are Overt. To flag someone and not let them know about it, is a complete lack of rational thought.
Which that brings up my next point. How can someone covert standing around a city for over an hour just chatting, or using a crafting station, having not healed anyone or did faction missions..... suddenly a combat medic walks by and tosses their poison grenade and you are dead. I've seen both Overt and Covert's do that. I've seen people flagged red to me, when I have no idea as to how they would be flagged to me while I'm covert and not in a group!!!
Meanwhile, you got a group of 20 people.... 1 Overt and 19 Coverts.... they use that exploit to bypass the fact that Coverts are never supposed to be able to attack anyone under any circumstance, verified by your own rulebooks and websites.
The 19 coverts stand around acting like neutrals, then the lone Overt runs into middle of a city and draws all the fire, the 19 coverts then mop up. What's sad about that, and makes me wonder what planet the programmers were born on.... the Overts can't attack any of those 19 coverts!!
Then you got the housing exploit. Sat for over an hour today watching one faction sit in a house and wait for hapless members of the opposing faction pass by on way back from doing a faction mission while they are covert. The Overts inside the house are invisible, but they can see anyone outside the house. So they send their 15 or 20 pets out to kill the unsuspecting person as they run by the house. Then they do deathblows from the house. House is private, they are already in the house, so making it so they can't enter would be ignorance on the programmers part. I got a better idea. Make them go covert and all pets/droids/npc's are stored the moment they enter the house. That is the only way to fix that. Well, there is another way, fix it so their house becomes overt and members of the opposing faction can attack and destroy the house. Fair is fair right??
Then there's the Combat Medic exploit, which I've fallen prey to many times. Works whether the combat medic is covert or overt, and they can proceed to attack anyone whether they are covert or overt. By the way, don't ask me how they are doing it, lol, I'm only saying it's verified to be done and can be done by anyone with 1 brain cell.
Then you got the CH exploit that allows them to bring out as many pets as they got room in datapad storage, lol. That's a combat related thing, so figured I'd mention that. But then, that seems to be a server problem, so not sure how I can give the programmers the training necessary to fix that in a forum.
Anyways, that should be enough to keep you guys busy for a while. And busy beavers you better be. Cause if I fall prey to one more exploit, I'll only be too happy to launch a bigger lawsuit than the Grand Theft Auto inconvenience. ![]()
So fix it or face off with this Federal Government employee in a Federal Court. ![]()
By the way, since you people want to keep ignoring my emails and bug reports and in-game issues... I've taken steps to start the legal ball rolling, as well as having to stoop to resigning from my faction since you can't bring yourselves to fix the mystery flagging problems. But just remember, every faction item i may have lost, will be given back. ![]()
While I'm here, and since it took you people a month to fix the website to let me in (and i'm a paying customer!), I figured I'd make use of it cause I might not be able to get back in for another month.
Why must a games website have better security than the White House? Are you afraid of something?? That's another thing that WILL be fixed. If I gotta pay to play, and follow the rules, then I'll have the BBB and FTC make **edit** sure you do to.
What's CNN gonna think of Sony ripping off and taking advantage of a DISABLED VETERAN??
If you want to make over 2000 FP in one hour - set up a private house infront of a base with lots of activities and you and friend can exploit others ...
.....this exploit of using a private house and attacking then running into it - happens all the time
check out Bloodfin server - Rori - Rebel Outpost - across the from the entrance you will see the house.. Go to Anchorhead and see the same activity... Bloodfin is not unique to this activity
That owner and another used it to not just pvp - but tag the nubies running back - hurl insults and generally be abusive to any one that asked them to stay outside and play ... it is a shame .... and not the behaviour of most Imperial that I know that PvP...
This type of exploit actually ruins the game and for the lower level folks it forced a lot of nubies to actually leave the area... It is the newer players and non-combat classes that get tagged a lot from these cheap kills - I had to donate some FP last night to keep a new person spirits up after explaining the TEF ...
I thought that no player could be abusive to another? Any player has a right to have fun without ANY abusive behaviour from anyone... this is anexploit....
Fix this however you want - when i logon and if they are still acting accordingly i am going to file a report every single time for any abusive behaviour as defined by SWG... I stopped counting 5 offensives in 1 minute last night... it may be a long report log - but i am ready to stand up for the rights of players against this known exploit that is in clear conflict with SoE policy.
