Ok guys.

Here is the latest update on this issue. We are going with the 5 minute TEF fix as its listed here BUT it wont be until early next week. With all the changes and the testing, we don't want to push out something to make anything un-stable for the weekend because those are the busy times. We're going to leave the fix in our QA for a couple more days, give it some more polish and push it out next week.

I will continue to work on the Graphic Display of the TEF on HUD's for you and let you know what the answer is...

Have a great weekend

Umm ... how about a system message that says "You now have a Temporary Enemy Flag"?

Am I to understand that all TEF's will be 5 minutes in length now?

I ask you to reconsider this.

If people are out killing enemy troops and they get reported back to command (get a TEF) the opposing army and its members are going to forget that within 5 minutes.

If people want to commit the crime of attacking Imperial soldiers (or rebels conversely) they should face the possibility of retribution for their actions.

5 minutes is nothing...

That's such a lame, unimaginative fix. Not only that, it throws this whole thread in the can. Why even bother asking people when you're going to go with the original, screwed up idea in the first place?

Challenge answer 1: If entry fee, apply TEF (and ejection) rules from private buildings.
Challenge answer 2: Take some extra time to go home... While I love casual player friendliness, casual players are unlikely to last minute 'Oh, i think I'll attack some stormtroopers and -cannot- wait to log out, and will complain if I have to log out in the open'.

Yes and no, it would help in some ways but it would also make it easier for members of the opposite faction to grief people by setting up covert detectors in front of someone's house and then waiting, you walk outside your door and bam get hit with a TEF and have no way to run for cover if you're not interested or prepared for fighting them. This has happened to friends of mine and their only salvation has been that they can set their house to private and wait for the griefers to get bored and go away. I realy think a better solution would be to have some sort of a proximity limit for factional structures and PA halls that either prevents people of the opposite faction form placing within a certain distance of those structures or prevents them from placing without permission from the people who placed first. That way if I put my house down I know that I don't have to worry about an imperial putting his covert detector outside my door and someone else doesn't have to worry about a rebel putting their house right next to his imperial base. I think that would help a lot.

Remove TEF from the game. Instead of getting tef a player should automatically go Overt.

Why are things always made more difficult than they need to be?

Remove the TEF system altogether. It is unneccessarily complicated. Does it not occur to anyone that all these problems could be permanently solved simply by getting rid of the system?

Either you are Overt or Covert. When you die, you become Covert and have to re-declare to PvP. An end to Clone Wars altogether. Better yet, you have to wait a certain amount of time between dying after cloning and re-declaring. That makes PvP, FINALLY, a matter of decisive engagements. He who puts down the opposing team first wins.

Also, why are we bothering with all this talk about TEFs and houses when the terminals on a majority of the faction bases are not spawning during vulnerable times? Isn't that a lot more important than this house thing?

Give us real GCW content (consistenyl destroyable bases) with a winnable PvP system (no TEFs) and I guarantee you will see a lot more straight-up fighting and this house business will cease to be an issue.

-------
- We see it time and time again in the so-called "content" the developers throw at us. This ain't Star Wars. It's some rip in the space-time continuum that spawned a parallel universe in which Order 66 went horribly-wrong and thousands of Jedi babies got smuggled away like Luke to be raised elsewhere, and now they are all coming of age and making holy terrors of themselves on the normal population for having turned on them a generation ago.

I dont necessarily agree with any of this. In RL can you not lock a door? In RL couldnt you run outside and shoot someone and run inside and lock the door? I think a better solution wouldnt be stopping CM's etc. from re-entering a house....maybe limiting an area around the base for opposing factions to lay a house...or allowing somehow to make the house vulnerable to breaking the door....maybe a slicer while a tef is inside or something similiar. Don't most battlle operations have a headquarters. I know at BRO we have set a house up a distance from bases and used that as a gathering point to attack...however we have also been followed to that house in order for teh battle to continue on...the house was a distance from two bases and at least 800 meters away if not more. That is a strategy and I think that if you sit outside a house...why not leave yourself some distance to react to what comes out...that is smart play. I think there is a more logical way to make this still a tactic and still keep people happy that are on the recieving end (which i have been several times, THANKS MC ) The peace solution is a good start..peacing out of a fight before entering...but it is not quite enough. There should be away to defend against the fighitng from a house but its not preventing people from going in it.
