Thread: IT 6-6: Imperial Crackdown: Some changes made based on In-Test Feedback

sogan : what is your chances of finding an overt imp in the wilderness may i ask ?
Very little, but my chances of being subjected to an NPC wilderness scan in the new patch are much greater. This isn't about overt player imps, its about the changes in the upcoming patch. You missed the point.

As a high ranking Imperial covert, I vote that covert Imperials should not be immune to scans, but should instead get a TEF put on them to open them up to Rebel attack. The Imps wouldn't pester them, but the overt Rebels around would be able to. Let it be so that only overt Imperials are immune to scan.
Thats just lame, so your saying open fire on your own troops? I dont think so my friend!
Seems to be a good idea, and I like the fact that player input weighed in heavily on the 'Crackdown' before its implementation. Despite my reputation for being a negative poster, I'm going to have to say I do like this, and I look forward to seeing more well thought out, player affected releases in the future.
I do have one question though. If these imperial npc's open up fire on rebels, will they give faction points upon death? If so, we probably will be seeing quite a bit of faction farming. I believe this has already been brought up, but just wanted to to reiterate upon it.
Again, it's nice to see the 'Imperial Crackdown' is getting retuned before it's brought live, not the reverse order.

But I wont waste any more of my breath, since there is no way in hell that PK D3WDS like you would understand that.
The most dissapointing part is, the Devs understand but choose to ignore that the majority of playersplay this way.
Its a sad sad day in this game.

that is a good point silver i give you that , im not a pk dood like you call me , but i admire the developers vision to stay in track , there are many ways to kill stuff in a group without being attacked by other players , the choises are there , go to a planet like rori were there are hardly ever any imperials around killing players , go around a player rebel city , again the chances that you find or get scaned by trooper is almost none , the tef lasts 5 mintues , but you have to agree there has to be some kind of risk on being a rebel , and not allowing imperials in the fight when a storm trooper is under attack doesnt make any sence , perhaps you can join the imps and not worry about scans
many people only play this game because of pvp , and isbecause of pvp that im still here , so i dont think its the mayority like you say
sogan : but i think its going to be mad cool to be rained on by storm troopers ![]()
im looking forward to it

All of these changes aren’t on Test Center yet, but here is what you can expect.
Some basics on how the Crackdown works:
Random searches will be conducted as part of the Emperor’s Crackdown on rebel activity.
Contraband is: Rebel Faction Equipment, Spice, Sliced weapons and armor.
Player items are not confiscated.
“Crackdowns” occur in the wilderness, “Shakedowns” occur in Planetary Cantinas (not player Cantinas)
If Imperial Search Parties find contraband on your character and you are...
Imperial, the penalty is:
Overt Imperial Officers: None. All junior officers will salute their superiors.
High Rank Covert: High Ranking officers will be acknowledged and saluted as directed by the Emperor.
Low Rank: (Identified as having little or no Faction Points spent on Rank): Low Ranking officers found in possession of contraband must pay tribute to the Emperor. Low ranking Imperial soldiers will be given the choice of sacrificing Faction Points or paying a fine.
Rebels, the penalty is:
Overt: Imperial Search party will open fire as per orders of the Emperor.
Covert: Covert Rebels will be identified to all surrounding Imperials (Turned Overt)
Neutral, the penalty is:
Imperial Citizens will be warned and lose faction points or be fined.
Smugglers have additional bonuses to escape Imperial Scans:
Novice Smugglers with “underworld” abilities will have a 15% chance to evade contraband searches plus an additional 15% for each skill box and Master Smugglers add another 20% for a total of 95%.
Players in both the wilderness and cantinas may avoid shakedown searches if grouped with smugglers for the same bonuses.
Thanks for getting involved and offering positive, well thought out feedback.
The developer offered me some additional detail:
And Neutral caught in the scans pay a fine and if they are unable to afford the fine lose imperial faction.
Contraband scanning will also take place in the 3 imperial controlled cities (Mos Espa, Kor Vella, and Kadaara).
In order to receive the smuggler bonus from being grouped with the player the smuggler must be within range (35m

For those who say its forced PvP you are wrong. If you don't have contraban on you, you won't be forced into pvp. Go buy some droids. Name one armor storage, name one weapon storage and one spice storage. Put your sliced/spice stuff in there. Simple enough.
Wow lets see.
I have the choice of doing without Spice and sliced weapons and armor and be significantly reduced in capability, or I can be dragged into Overt status unless im a Smuggler.
Golly gee, such choices.
