This is something completely different, but it is an Open discussion. Here is an idea that I think most people will agree with. How about including a couple mini-games? The two I would really like to see are Sabaac (The card game of Star Wars), and Dejarik (The Chess-Like Game which R2-D2 was playing against Chewbacca). You could make it so that players can only play in a cantina, or have players invite their friends, e.t.c.. Or for an even brand new profession. Why not make a Gambler Profession, and make casinos, and the like? I'm sure we'd all like to be able to play the same games we know of in the Star Wars Universe.

The Casinos could be another way to relax our mind stats.

REMOVE ALL XP WHEN AFK! Getting XP when AFK is just silly. People are grinding entire professions when not even playing, and you are letting them do it. Cantina's full of AFK dancers, as well as every starting city surounded by AFK CH, Scout, and Marksman grinders... Sheesh, I have no problem with players providing services when AFK, or even spamming, but getting XP rewards just doesn't seem right.

Hi TH,

I originally posted this in the Jedi forum. I hope you will consider it to present to the devs.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=264473

The following is the contents of the original post:

A previous post identified the problem perfectly. SOE is in a tight spot because if too many jedi start running around, people will quit. If SOE does something to cap jedi, people will quit.

Currently they are attacking the problem from the point of view of the jedi. I feel there is a better way.

What do people really want? They want to achieve the "end-game". Right now Jedi is it.

Problem with this is that the jedi system has introduced an additional tier to the profession system, throwing everything out of whack. No one wants to play a game as a bargain basement toon when uber toons are running around and there is nothing they can do about it.

So, how about providing people with alternatives. In addition to the FS slot, how about an Uber Bounty Hunter slot. Most BH's are complaining that they cannot compete with a high level jedi. Well, I got news for them... there is no way in #$%^ that they should be able to. A jedi burns through millions and millions of xp to become a high level jedi, while a BH just masters a few professions.

BH's compate themselves to Bobba. This is not a fair comparison as he was an exceptional BH -- an uber BH you might say. So, give people the ability to become uber BH's with tons of cool weapons, abilities, player bounties, working droids ;-) and give them a similar system with millions of xp to burn through, skill revocation penalties... the works.

As a developer myself, I often will program myself into a corner and then begin to think of ways to solve a problem. I know when I have hit on something when a solution not only solves my immediate problem, but also addresses other issues. Think about it. A huge complaint is that if a BH fails to kill a jedi, there is no penatly. Well, now there would be. A failed BH would encur skill revocation.

Other concerns are that Jedi Masters will rule PvP. The normal reaction is to swing that huge nerf bat. The nerf bat solution is almost always the wrong solution. By having people with similar skill levels as a jedi, PvP will once again be equal. Those with normal profs should be on equal terms with each other, and those with the uber slots should be on equal terms with each other, but superior to those with normal profs.

This is already the case with base prof vs. elite prof.

Uber slots could be created for other profs as well like an Uber TKA slot, or a Super Commando Slot, etc.

Not only does this provide people with choices, it also levels the playing field and gives a real Yin and Yan (spelling???) effect.
As you can see, my idea is very simple and I have not gotten into any great detail about implementation. The purpose of this thread is to simply start a discussion. I would leave it to the skills of the devs to come up with an implementation.

To add to this from some of the feedback I received; it is important to note that my idea is not one of introducing elite eilte professions. These are actual slots just like the FS slot. They would be achieved through similar methods as the FS slot.

Thanks for your time.

They need Pazaak as well (from KotOR, with easy rules to learn to play).

i would love to hear about the space expansion that is coming out. I want to know if there is going to be new planets and classes like pilot and ship crafter, also i want to see bikes with guns on them.

if we get to buy x-wings i hope we can put r2 units in them to fix things and increase power to the boosters and revert it to the sheild generator and vis versa that would be kick **edit**. also i would love player city starports only granted to metropolis.

i also would love to see more player city buildings. like hotels, and other TALL buildings to make it fell more like city thena big town with one tall building. Walls around the city would be great. All the static cities have them why cant we. another thing that would be cool is cement that everything can be placed on the same level instead of the ground. this would make it feel more like a city and not a place having a bunch of houses and 1 tall building in the middle of nowhere. different designs for houses, and player city buildings. it would also be cool if you could paint the buildings to make the city unique.

Here are several things i think would save SOE quite a few customers, and improve the game overall

-Hotfix to fix BH droids now, not Publish 7

-Increase offensive ability of BHs (more accuracy/minimal defense)

-Allow jedi to craft 'jedi robes' that provide special protection against different types of damage( could be based on saber crafting skill) This would get rid of the full composite jedi (how dumb does that look)

yes i know this applies mostly to BH and jedi, but those are two of the proffessions that could use alot of help right now.

Hello again,

Just finished my trial run of the Imperial Crackdown. I'm not gonna sit here and bash the dev's, but I'm not 100% impressed with this publish. It still doesn't FEEL Star Wars.

Give the game a Star Wars feel. What we should have in the future is a game OVERRUN with Imperial Presence. Every city, no matter it's factional alignment, should have Storm Troopers. There need to StormtroopersEVERYWHERE, on every street corner, at all the Shuttle/Starports, in every cantina. We need to feel like we are in Nazi Germany in space.

Every city should be overrun with Stormtroopers and Imperial Presence. Force the Rebellion back into hiding where it belongs.Openly Rebel cities, like Anchorhead, would NEVER be suffered to exist by the Empire. Rebels need to have secret bases, not cities. The Rebel's should be being hunted down, not just hanging out in their hometown

Furthermore, Storm Troopers should be the Krayt Dragons of this game. They need to evoke FEAR. Covert Rebels should need to avoid them by necessity, for if they get the shake down and get discovered, they're DOOMED unless they are a skilled enough to take them out.

i would like to place a vote for items in large houses to correspond with the appropriate lots taken up by the structure...a medium house takes up two lots and can hold 150 items...ie 75 per lot...large houses take up 6 lots and and only hold 250 items...right now i have 3 mediums setup and run between them...i would much rather have one large house that holds 450 items which would adhere to the 75 items per lot standard...the reason i would like to see this is i would like to have all my materials for crafting in one house rather than numberous ones...

Would having a colored "Bleed" icons, be helpful? I'm talking about when I'm hit with a bleed, it'd be helpful to know what stat I'm bleeding in...or for that effect, what my enemy has been hit with.

So if I'm hit with a Health bleed, the "Bleed" icon would be colored red....like it is now. If I'm hit with a Mind bleed, could we have the "Bleed" icon show in a blue color? What about an Action bleed?? Is there one? If so, could it be colored green? This would make it easier to know where I'm bleeding without having to spend time with other windows or waiting to see which HAM bars starts to drop.

This is just a simple idea to enhance what we already have

You know... I would like to see what the professions are the all of the imperials and rebels are. Do you know how annoyed I've been when I can't kill a lone imperial droid cadet? I really gotta know what his skills are. Why do I as a rifleman (1-0-0-0) still can't kill one? They seem to have combat skills coming out their ears. And on top of that, they will change weapon styles on me and still be equally as good. They might start with a rifle, but then they switch to a carbine and move in a bit. Then they switch to a pistol and move in some more. THEN, they move in to melee range, and start changing up weapons on me there. They'll throw a punch or a kick, then whip out a vibro-axe and hit me once with that. THEN pull out a sword of some kind.... How can this be that they have that many skills? It seems to me that the NPC's should have to be constructed under the same skill restrictions, stat restrictions, and stat modifiers (wearing armor) as any of the players.

Ok enought about that hehehe.

I'm going to go into a little more depth with my chemist idea here. First, most professions end up getting doubled up with other professions anyway. My guess would be that most chemists would also either be businessmen, armorsmiths, weaponsmiths, DEs, architects.... I do agree, it won't be one of the most FUN professions, but then again neither is armorsmith (which I'm currently grinding for jedi). I had another idea that would go well with the chemist profession... the ability to purify your resources. While there might be some resource quantity lost, the total quality of the resource would increase. Really the exact details as to how that would be done would require some math time and checking. I was thinking that if there was a chemist profession, it would likely be the elite version to the surveying skill. As to including it with some kind of mining profession. I think that would be wonderful... I had given thought to a mining profession but I wasn't to sure about all of it's skill branches. If there are ideas that's cool.... I'm just letting my ideas out so they can be considered.

Imperial crackdown. I think it's a good step to take. I personally haven't been anywhere that I need to worry about. I don't even have any sliced gear... so unless I got a TEF I'm good. But people are right, there should be Imps everywhere. Every room in a starport should have about 3-5 stormtroopersin them. They should be wandering the streets of at least every NPC city. Maybe they could even make spot checks in player cities.Every group of 20 stormtroopers should have a captain, or some commander (dude in squeeky clean, finely pressed, fresh out of the wrapper grey shirt with the funny grey hat).

Well, I think that's all I got for today. Maybe I'll come up with something tomorrow.

And the post goes on....

In a live Dev Chat some time ago, it was mentioned that wookiees would be getting some sort of battle protection...

Have we already seen this in the from of BE enhanced clothing?

I know that it could be a very difficult question to answer as both answers will lead to more questions, flames, etc.

The only reason I continually ask is simply becuase if BE clothing is the best the wook will get, then I need to change the focus of my posts from "Are we getting anything else?" to "Can we modifiy wookiee clothing schematics to accomdate more defenses to at least make it eqaul to what other races can wear?"

I do, however, see the problem with answering the question: You answer "No, wooks will be getting more battle protection" then we all start posting when? what will it look like? what stats will it have? etc. The flip side is if you say "Yes, wooks have seen all of the battle protection they will get from BE clothing" you will get the flames, gripes and angry mobs at your door.

So once again I do not envy the position you are in, that does not stop me from a polite nudge or poke every once in awhile to try and get a little peep of info from you.

The devs completly nerfed the FSCS. Ok im really not an avid star wars galaxies player.... maybe 2-4 hours a week. But, even playing a lot more than that I probably would still have no chance at opening my slot. I find the game as it is very entertaining, but I have always wanted to play as a Jedi as a sort of long term goal and challenge. It is impossible for casual players to open their slots. I remember reading something in the Jedi guide that it would take a casual player about 1 year to unlock their slot, but I dont think I could in a year. Well, what i propose to SOE is to have a 1-1.5 year maximum time played before opening their slot. If these new quests are anything like the Everquest uber-weapon quests than I know ill have no chance in that area. So devs why not just allow people who have been good paying customers to auto-unlocktheir slots after a set amount of time... as opposed to not at all, which is what im looking at.
