I have done the Badges thing and was glowing. When Pub10 came out, I had only a "Faint of the Force" andwas pretty much feeling down, because I had done almost all POI Badges and all Theme Parks. Finished the Warren (after Pub 10 came out) and became immediatly glowing.
Did some walk around and read the board yesterday. Did complain a little. Whined a bit. Canceled my Account and so on. Hm.
Did my all Professions the Holo told me and gave up then. I have a total of 10 Professions Mastered and less than 75 Badges. I am waiting now for the Sith, right? I get back later to complain, where the Sith are. Hm. Sorry about this lame english, come from germany.

The old man will visit you when you have completed the requirements of the new path to becoming a Jedi.While this new path is still a secret, it is no where near as daunting as the holo-professions method.We have made additional provisions for those that worked partially through the old system.Here is how you will be allocated a visit based on the old system:
You will be granted access to the village…
Automatically qualify
Group 1
Group 2
Group 3
Group 4
When enough people have completed their path, we will open it up the village to the next group...
I hate to throw 'gas on the fire' like this, but it wasn't my doing. My brother and I both play SWG, and while he remade his character between pub 9 and 10 I have kept mine and continued working on it. I aquired loads of holocrons and pushed to unlock jedi, he has a total of one master profession and has never picked up a holocron with his character. The point of this is that the old man visited him today, and I am still waiting to see the coot. I have been on almost non-stop since the pub came live and he logged in and walked out of his house to see the guy walking up. Seems to me that perhaps a bit of thought is needed before we try claiming that there is a plan behind the madness here. By your own words I should have had the visit prior to him... it's just not nice to flat out lie to your customers like that. Just a thought. But hey, we probably weren't supposed to notice that, so sorry for pointing it out.

So I believe that :
a) the system isn't working as intended and I'm not accounted as qualifying for an automatic visit from granpa, which would really suck
b) You have to wait 1 to 3 days of playtime (i.e. been playing for between 24 to 72 hours) before being visited by the Old Man, which would also suck, but a bit less than the above option
c) the system is working as intended and I'm in group 4, which would UBERLY SUCK and inevatibly lead me to cancelling my account

Yes, it means there are a bunch of people that are dissatisfied with the Old Man gating system and the fact that the Old Man still hasn't appeared to a good bunch of those who already glow (like myself for instance).
Seeing as there are quite a few people who are posting here for the first time, it also means that this is a really important issue, one important enough to make them angry enough to come and express their disappointement here.
