Well I hope TH and hte rest of the Dev team reads this lil post from me.

I've been playing SWG since last Nov and at first it sucked mainly because I thought it was an EQ-clone set in a SW atmosphere. To an extent that is true however SWG has its own feel. Since that time I've had the ability to see and play almost everything there is and I have to say I can't wait to see what's next.

To me I really don't care if the combat rebalance isn't until 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years from now. To me this is just a game where I can enjoy it with my friends. Some of the community players need to step back and realise that. It's just a game. SOE and LucasArts are not going to cry(too much) over 1000 people leaving. You want to see shock? Check out the game JumpGate. 3 years ago it was THE space flight sim only because there wasn't anything else out there. Now there's EQ(tired), UO(needs to retire) and SWG. Face it folks even with WoW looming on the horizon you'll try it out and think "Man this sucks. I remember in SWG I had this awesome fighter template, etc, etc".

No, I'll be thinking "Man, it's nice to have balanced classes and new and exciting stuff to see and do." I won't have the high end character class cut off to me (developers stated they would adjust the ability to gain FS to make it so not everyone can get it). I won't have a combat system that is fundamentally broken at it's core. I won't have an environment where I can log a new character today, give him armor and buffs then see the whole game in a day. Iwill have a game where I can have a feeling of accomplishment as I make mytoon stronger and stronger. I will have an environment that will test my toon against new things as I go up in levels.

You said it, SWG is a pretty chat room now. The only reason I had a tough time quitting is because of the relationships I made. The game itself hasnt been compelling since last December when hologrinding and Buffs/armor ruined it all.

Each game is a learning experience that we all play. To get mad at the devs or even Thunderheart for laying it out for all to see. At least they're telling us instead of springing it on us at the last minute. Nerf the whining with the biggest nerfball bat out there and just let the devs do what they've been doing. So far with everything of recent they've done, I think you guys need to give them the benefit of the doubt.

What they've been doing is bait and switching us with lies. I hardly think that's something we want them to continue to do.

I don't really blame people like TH or the programmers. They are obviously under pressure from their higher ups to get JTL out by Christmas, SWG be damned. It is not whining, however, to point out that this is abad business practice and to explain to SOE what happens when they dont follow through on their promises. I was promised a CB and a fixed game. I waited patiently for over 6 months. Now I have to wait another 6 months (probably longer) so they can produce another bug ridden product to try and milk the license some more.

Put it to you this way. Friend of mine who's in my clan, Sol Legion, is the only Jedi in our clan. Before Pub 9 he was hating life as a Jedi because it sucked too much. Post-Pub9 he likes it. He likes how things were revamped and done. I can't wait to try it out myself.

So one person out of your whole clan gets a majority of the developers attention so now he's temporarily happy. Meanwhile, the rest of your clan, who have classes that have been broken since launch, get left to rot. Sounds like a good business move to me.

The problem is your missing the underlying issue. Most people dont want jedi. Most people won't even get a FS slot. So fixing a tiny portion of the game that most everyone will never experience (except at the other end of a light saber when they get ganked by FRS searching jedi - another issue) really doesnt mean all that much.

Am I a fanboi? Not only no but hell no. I'm just speaking my opinion just like every one of you jackals have. You love SOE when they help your particular situation but you shun and hate them when they don't do things YOUR way. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Look forward to the new things coming out. I can't wait to try out JTL because it's what I've been itching to do for about 11 years since XWing came out(for me at least).

All I want is a finished product where the basic underlying core functions arent totally borked. Why does that make me a whiner? Why should I wait 2 years after I bought the damn game for it to be in a release-able state? Why does this reasonable request make me a jackal? I bought a game and paid monthly for it. I expected that the developers would, in return, use that money to polish up the game I bought. In the case of SWG I was hoping they would use that money to fix the broken core systems of the game that were broken from day one.Instead they used it to help out marketing (Jedi! Jedi! Jedi! - which, of course, only a small percentage will be. Dont tell the rubes though as we sucker them in the door!) and to try and make a quick buck by squeezing out an ill fated expansion before the holiday season.

I'll repeat myself. I'm not a fanboi of the SOE devs or SOE itself. I AM a fanboi of the SW franchise. If that brings hate and discontent on me, so be it. I enjoy the game for what it is and do so with my friends. Maybe you all should too.

Not going to flame you. I just think your missing the big picture. The game SWG is not fun, balanced or challenging at any level right now. If this game didnt have Star Wars on it you would not be here, nor would 90% of the player base. That does not bode well for the future of the game. If you are truly the big SW fan you say you are you would want SWG to be such a great game that even with another name on it people would want to play it. Your acceptance of the developers lack of focus in fixing the core SWG game ASAP is the first step toward the demise of this game you say you love.

PS: I live in the US but I play on the EU-Chimaera server. Why? Because that's where my friends are. Yeah the lag gets to me at times but all in all its for my friends. Best bunch I'll probably ever have in a game.

and now, just to aggravate those same jackals im gonna 1 star rate every one of there whining **edit** since stars is only thing they care about

middle finger to all the jackals

The "jackals" as you call us seem to be the only ones interested in the long term viablity of this game. Adding an expansion to a fundamentally broken game is about the worst idea ever. Right up there with running with scissors and using the toaster while you're taking a bath.

You are giving the entire future of SWG the middle finger really. Hope you feel good about that.

TH, it looks like you guys in SOE just don't attach any importance to combat/PVP/GCW. In the last few months you've given us Jedi, pink hair-dos,and Super Battle Droids by the dozen.. none of which myself or most of the people I play with wanted.

Combat and balance in this game is fundementally broken, and evenso your team prefers to work on quests to make evenmore Jedi.

It's clear what I want (PVP/GCW) is not what SOE wants. I'm sure that at a few months ago the following conversation took place in SOE:

SOE Manager: "The stats say that at any given time only 1% of the population are overt, what gives?"

SOE Designer: "Ah, it shows thatthe people who play this game don't like to PVP, so lets just ignore it and give them more hair styles"

If SOEs vision for the game matched mine, the response would have been more like this:

SOE Designer: "Ah, it shows that at the moment PVP combat sucks, so lets do everything we can to make it more fun"

but.. it wasn't.

I have cancelled my alt account indefinately, and I will be cancelling my main account until JTL comes out.

no.. the matter of fact is that the ones whining most about the broken profession seems to be those who care about the Pvp side of the game, and its them who is hurted most by the pushed back rebalance..

what im sick to death about is the ignorance you people are showing when you moan about that you get hurted by being set aside by another small minority taking time from your precious rebalance, be it jedi, entertainers, those looking forward to be pilots and all the other people who want to paly this game that you fail to see that you.. the PvP group is just the same kind of minority just as any others.

By demanding that everything to be set aside just so you run around killing other players shouting "I337" and "i pwned you n00b" is what i show the middle finger at.

Hey, Does anyone remember when SWG was first being talked about, how you'd be able to have your own ship and space wouldnt be an "expansion"?? it was just going to come as stock as a reliable engine in a honda?

Because it couldn't possibly have anything to do with us non PvPers who would like to actually have our professions work, now could it?

Or us non PvPers who would like some kind of challenge in PvE other than the occasional new over-camped dungeon? Maybe a reason to group with friends? Maybe a reason to actually think twice before going up against an enraged rancor lair solo?

SOE on one hand is delaying an upcoming EQ expansion to address the issues in the existing game since the previous expansion. On the other hand, it's delaying addressing issues in the existing SWG game in order to pump effort into an upcoming SWG expansion instead.

This is making sense to you, why again?

I'm an RP'er. I don't shout "l337" when I win a duel, or whatever bit of PvP I actually take part in. I can accept that a game of this scale has flaws, since I played EQ for about four years.

It tends to be easier to accept a flawed game when the people behind it are actually trying to fix it instead of adding more bells and whistles to try and cover up the noises of a machine in bad need of repair.
