Thunderheart...All I can say is WOW (dumfounded amazement...not the game) I've worked in some corporations and have seen some really screwed up mismanaged priorities and some major foot-in-mouth-disease...but this is incredulous. You actually stated to your current PAYING customer base that their concerns are not as important as getting a new expansion out on time. Your current developement team should have been addressing the core game and its current customer base concerns (GCW, Combat) LONG before developers were earmarked to an expansion that you want people to buy for the CORE game that is not functioning. These are not new issues to you or SOE...you've been delaying and stalling your customers for a year now...your post history is fact of that.
I'm with many others...account canceled 7/19/04...don't believe me? Look it up..and I agree with what someone said above...your exit survey needs more options such as "Left due to mismanagement and unaddressed playability concerns".

Well, I did a little research and found out how to directly contact Rich Vogel.
I called Sony Online Entertainment. They have a directory assistance. You punch in the last three letters of the person's last name (VOG), and they connect you to them. All I got was his voice mail, but I left him a message telling him that I was disheartened by JTL coming before the combat balance. I suggest everyone else do the same.
Here's the phone number -
(858)577-3100
Choose Option Two for Directory Assistance.
Punch in "VOG" or "864"
You will be connected to Rich promptly. If he's not there, you'll get his voice mail.
Perhaps calling in person can persuade the SOE higher ups that this is a bad decision for the game.
This is not harrassment of a SOE employee. It is another outlet myself and others can take to tell SOE about what we thinkabout the changes to thedevelopment schedule. This information is intended and used for a positive means of communication between SOE and its customers.

I just feel like a puppet on a string with this game...it's getting REALLY old. I canceled my 3 accounts the day before this announcement broke. I am so glad I did, because the future looks kinda...DULL. I really hate to leave the game, but I am tired of the whole "sticks and carrots" game with SOE, DEVS..or whomever. I know that jedi is a huge part of this game, but until you make it equal for everyone and not to mention enjoyable for all, even if you dont have a jedi character..which is quite time consuming for the average player to achieve. The game is going to sink..I mean look at it already, people are disgusted and not to mention BORED!! I will however keep an eye out to see if there are any improvements in the future, because the game has some great potential and I really hope things get ironed out.THUNDERHEART please tell these guys that most of the people here are serious about their posts and not just whining. Trust me..I have RL friends who play(ed) this game and I talk to them on a daily basisand they are fed up as well. The thing that makes this game so special is the fact that it can attract a wide range of ages...I can remember going to see the original Star Wars movie 7 times as a child...and this game has(is) leaving a bad taste in my mouth atm. I truly hope to return to the game....but it's to the point where I dreaded logging on..Example: spam in CNET, AFK dancers, Tumble monkey healers, loots that are a slap in the face, LAG, PVP issues, grinding, holocrons, nobody groups anymore, etc...and the list goes on....

Question: What do u guys think the main reason was behind SWG ? who actually enters into such a venture ?
Answer: It's a businessman, or a bunch of businessmen who assume the positions of chairmen in a company ... and do u think they watch star wars or are fans of the series ... ? These people live in yachts and huge villas, they probably dont even watch TV coz they dont have time to do that in their busy schedule of touring the Bahamas and Hawaii. Moreover, these people appoint managers to make sure the profit keeps coming in. The managers will lose their jobs if the profit stops, so they appoint people to keep the rpofit coming in ..... and so on...
Conclusion, contrary to the business world and to jobs in particular where retention of an employee is much more beneficial than hiring a new one; in mmorpgs, retention of a player is less important than getting a new one, because the current player has alerady bought the game and he cant return it back for a refund .... while the new player will have to buy the game and then pay for the subsciptions ... (so its a double profit, and someone starting fresh, so it will take him at least 6 months to become disgruntled like the current player)
Seems to me that they r on the right track, and they're doing a good job at it ... These people are businessmen and they r doing business plain and simple ... they promise things to keep the money coming in and keep u hooked (do u really think they care about ethics?), then when the time comes, they meet to decide if fulfilling the promise generates better revenue or not ...
Currently, it seems that getting new players is the way to generate more revenue ... and new players they "will" get, im sure of it, people are sheep, they dont bind together (how many times we agreed not to come to school the next day, just to find out that we're being punished because we're the only 3 students that didnt attend in our 40 students class)
Wuth CB rescheduled, SOE might have let's say 30,000 cancellations, but with JTL announced, they will get 40,000 peopel who will buy the game "and" subscribe .... If i was them ill do the same thing !
Cheers SOE,

Bottom line: Almost all the pistoleer specials have been broken since release. The speed formula is so broken that rifleman can fire at the cap at master with very moderate effort (fast guns or a tape or two) whereas pistoleers HAVE to dabble in BH or spend millions on SEA's to fire a frigging pop-gun at the cap. This is just an example from my own perspective as a pistoleer. Many classes have similar problems that date back to BETA.
Unacceptable to push back those fixes even further, after over a year of promises.

Well I hope TH and hte rest of the Dev team reads this lil post from me.
I've been playing SWG since last Nov and at first it sucked mainly because I thought it was an EQ-clone set in a SW atmosphere. To an extent that is true however SWG has its own feel. Since that time I've had the ability to see and play almost everything there is and I have to say I can't wait to see what's next.
To me I really don't care if the combat rebalance isn't until 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years from now. To me this is just a game where I can enjoy it with my friends. Some of the community players need to step back and realise that. It's just a game. SOE and LucasArts are not going to cry(too much) over 1000 people leaving. You want to see shock? Check out the game JumpGate. 3 years ago it was THE space flight sim only because there wasn't anything else out there. Now there's EQ(tired), UO(needs to retire) and SWG. Face it folks even with WoW looming on the horizon you'll try it out and think "Man this sucks. I remember in SWG I had this awesome fighter template, etc, etc".
Each game is a learning experience that we all play. To get mad at the devs or even Thunderheart for laying it out for all to see. At least they're telling us instead of springing it on us at the last minute. Nerf the whining with the biggest nerfball bat out there and just let the devs do what they've been doing. So far with everything of recent they've done, I think you guys need to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Put it to you this way. Friend of mine who's in my clan, Sol Legion, is the only Jedi in our clan. Before Pub 9 he was hating life as a Jedi because it sucked too much. Post-Pub9 he likes it. He likes how things were revamped and done. I can't wait to try it out myself.
Am I a fanboi? Not only no but hell no. I'm just speaking my opinion just like every one of you jackals have. You love SOE when they help your particular situation but you shun and hate them when they don't do things YOUR way. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Look forward to the new things coming out. I can't wait to try out JTL because it's what I've been itching to do for about 11 years since XWing came out(for me at least).
I'll repeat myself. I'm not a fanboi of the SOE devs or SOE itself. I AM a fanboi of the SW franchise. If that brings hate and discontent on me, so be it. I enjoy the game for what it is and do so with my friends. Maybe you all should too.
-=Jerii=-
PS: I live in the US but I play on the EU-Chimaera server. Why? Because that's where my friends are. Yeah the lag gets to me at times but all in all its for my friends. Best bunch I'll probably ever have in a game.

I don't buy the arguement that the "Core game" chould be fixed before JTL comes out. JTL was supposed to be in the core game. so were Player cities, mounts and vehicles. Not only have we been paying for a buggy game, but we have been paying for a buggy game that is only half complete!
No one really cares if you buy the arguement or not you blew all credibility when you opened your mouth and stated that JTL was to be originally part of the core game, next time do a little research and you wont come off looking like a noob.
Sorry but thems the facts
Sorry but it may be you who needs to do a little more research. In the very early days it was in fact planned to launch the game with space content. I remember very well that the announcement that space would be added in an expansion was not very well received by the community.

When this thread was locked without as much as a comment it gave me the chills. Such heavy handed censorship is not something we expect from people believing in the democratic process. It reminded me much more of places like China, where silencing critics/opponents is the #1 priority.
Shame on you SOE for locking the thread, but kudos for opening it again.

I warned whatever MOD that locked this thread that theyw ere in trouble
You got tired of deleting all the threads in other forums when you locked this one eh?
GOOD!
Cause THIS needs to be discussed.
We are losing ALOT of great players this weekend and ALL cause WE HAVE BEEN LIED TO FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!
DEVS, Since you took the weekend off, which was a HUGE mistake I believe, PLEASE start reading our ideas for quick fixs on the GCW and professions. MANY of them can be done in just days and can be LIVE in a week.
SOE better HIRE some EXTRADEVS to get this going or SWG is a ghosttown, I don't care HOW good JTL will be.
