Folks, To start this is not a flame. I realize this is confusing so Im gonna try to break down what TH said in his post for anyone that is still confused.
TH please read section in red for secret to keeping this game going for a long time.
Post 9 before 10 unlockers automatically qualify for the old man
We now know they bump the need professions to unlock to 8. People who had completed 7 out of 8 profs needed auto qualify for immediate old man visit.
Group 1 people who finish six qualifying profs
Group 2 " " " Five " "
Group 3four
Group 4Three
This means anyone who only completed 1-2 of there requried profs will have to wait, excpt in the case for any of us who waited until after Publish 10 to get the necesary requirements to make them selves Glow with the force. If you were surge when you logged in after the Patch and then did three more badges and hit glow you too automatically qualify for an immediate visit. Myself I had all the badges and qualification long ago to glow long before this system was probably even determined, but never unlocked all of my professions. I have been playing since beta and have played continously since day one of live game. I am perterubed that some noob who got game a week ago and went out to the boards read the requirements to glow, spent the next week doing nothing but working on getting to glow could make the villlage before me just be cause they didn't finish in time log on after the patch andare at surge, do lets say the warren badges go to glow and wham there is the old man. Talk about the people you don't want in the village. Hey helper where is the Village peamos, some guy said go to Peamos, my waypoint says go to a place called aurrillia, I can't find peamos on the overhead mapwhat do I do. Yeah I'm excited about waiting on that guy.
TH PLEASE READ BELOW THIS PART AS IT HOLDS THE SECRET TO HOW TO MAKE THIS GAME GO ON FOR A LONG TIME
Devs, the veteran holos wer ok, the paintings were ok, the ship for JTL is not to bad, but I think you missed a chance to reward the VETERANS! These are the people who got mauled by wrix running across Corellia every day because there weren't buffs or uber armor in the game yet and we were lowly marksmans, the people who had to run and get their stuff off their corpse but it was buried and we couldn't get to it or it was heavily guarded by the sme red mob that killed you. Rewardthe people who did BH before the xp changes and vehicle and mounts. Reward the people that just missed ever shuttle or star cruiser and then spent the next ten minutes waiting, looking for a cool emote that expressed how truely pissed they were they missed another shuttle, Reward the people that built the economies (that many clamied are runied, but I see thrive everyday). These were the folks you could have really scored points with...these are the folks who have done exactly what ya'll have always said play the game,...and have fun. These people should have never had to wait for the old man or other new significant content. OUR WAIT SHOULD BE OVER. I'm not saying give us free Jedi, just don't make us wait for content. I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone above the age of say5 (5 and belowjust get their way cause they exploit the cute factor)who understand this game at all, that could have put together a sound argument why it would be unfair to reward the vets, by vets I mean people who have played this game for over a year and been active grinding or not grinding. These are the people who keep the game going, they ignore glitches and bugs and bad decisions, and delays and all the other BS because they love the game. FIRST RULE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE TAKE CARE OF YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS FIRST OR YOU WON"T HAVE ANY LEFT WHEN YOU NEED THEM. I suggest you print that on paper put it in a big o' frame and post in all the decision makers offices. I'll keep paying, but the more you ignore us the more chance we will go play someplace else. Trinkets are cool, but content keeps us playing and paying.Hopefully in JTL and future patches you won't forget about about us vets. MAKE US FEEL SPECIAL!!!!!! SHOW US THE LOVE WE EARNED, YES ALL YOU FLAMERS WE HAVE EARNED IT!!!

I don't know whats going on with the whole group 1-4 thing, but I was visited by the old man tonight. I had only 2 holos done, mastered 6 profs, and had the inner glow beginning of patch 10. I ported into my player city, and he appeared 20-30 seconds later. So what people are saying about holos and profs is bs, it's all about badges and being glowy.

Dear Thunderheart,
This is the biggest crock a bantha fodder i have ever heard. How could this possibly be fair? I already have jedi , so to me i dont really care if ya cap jedi altogether, cept the fact that I have a really good friend who has grinded just as hard as me and becuase he came up short with number 25 and i unlocked on 29 , he is being punished. I have another friend whos account is maybe 4 months and has 3 masters and is already glowy . How can this be? My friend that mastered 25 professions most certainly is not getting credit for the time he put into the old system . And he is obvoiusly down there with group 3 or 4 which probably means he will have to wait another 6 months before he is even permitted in the village . This is lame and because of it my friend will most likely close his 2 accounts and go to a diff game , then ill prob get bored and close both of my accounts. The game just wouldnt be the same if he left and his heart was set on getting some force sensitivity for the 25 masters he busted his butt on and he didnt get anything . Man you need to relook up the definition of fair , a noob player shoul dmost certainly not have any chance a getting in the village over someone that put 11 months of time in grinding professions for a force slot ... this is just completley insane !!!!! And by the way why does a crafter think they should be jedi ? jedi is an elite combat profession , if you are a crafter and no combat you certainly should never become jedi . what you gonna do craft the galaxies best lightsaber only to find out you have no clue how to wield it? pfft!!! go make a pistol !!

PS to all you jedi waannabees...you think the holo grind was hard wait till you see what you gonna do now to get jedi now....and to top it off leveling jedi is far more painful then grinding any profession ..lol...lol....lol.....lol..have fun !!!

Ok, to start things off, I HAVE been visited by the old man. I was inner glow status at the start of publish 10, and have gained no badges since then. Shortly after logging on today i took a shuttle to my guilds city. Approximately 20m from the shuttleport an NPC named "an old man" comes running up to me. He engages me in a short conversation then hands me a crystal. The crystal acts like a quest log. Later, i go hunting on Dantooine..... no siths anywhere. I decided to head back to my player city, and log out for a bit. Upon logging back in i was running around close to the city and lo and behold two very weak sith spawned to attack me. Now this is where i need some help from someone in the SOE hierarchy. I was standing fairly close to some rebel npc's. They shot and killed one of the two stih before i could do anything, I killed the second one and my quest journal updated. But now, i could only loot the one corpse which had nothing on it. So now i am stuck, i need something that the two sith were supposed to drop to let me proceed with this path, but now am unable to. Does anyone from TC have any advice? Will the two Sith spawn again shortly and attack me again? Any and all help would be really appreciated.
please, no questions about what badges i have, or classes i have done, those issues have been raised too many times already

From what I understood, once we get the crystal, we are supposed to be attacked by the sith, anyone have any idea when they are supposed to come as well? Or they just pop up at random?

Siths are random just like the old man I believe. Some people claim as far as getting the siths to appear, go to your declared residence and logout for 15 mins and back in. I am not sure how accurate that is.
I'm sure they will spawn randomly. I'm still waiting on the old man to visit me.

what i'm trying to find out is why the holocron grinders are whining so much. I'm a casual player, didn't get caught up in the holo craze, and when i logged on i wasn't glowing, but after i did nym's i was glowing. Why should someone who grinded away half his life on professions he didn't even care for get any more rights to enter the villiage than someone who's been playing the game for the last year. Doesn't seem right to me

I'm just sitting here eating popcorn and enjoying watching red-faced children's heads pop. 
I'm at "surging" right now. I'll putz around and do some theme park and Warrens work and probably be ready for the ol' geezer in a week or so. Then he shows up when he shows up.
Hint: If you hate the game so much that you can't stand waiting abit for the guy, you were on the edge anyway and probably would have been one of the first people whining when you realized you could only do one quest every 3 weeks.
Oh you didn't know that?
