Thread: Should Force Sensitivity be a known path or a mysterious one? (II)

Since I didn't differentiate between FS and path to Jedi in my 1st post here we go again:
Definitely mysterious and (you must have either had a plan for that at some point in the past or just lied to us) -if possible- different for everyone. The pre-Holo days were the best days of SWG IMHO when everyone was looking for hints and clues and discussing those things in the Jedi forums. Everything in this game has been explored by now. Adding a little mystery back in would rock and make the game exciting again.

Yes I agree that becoming force sensitive should be the "mysterious part", and once you do reach that goal things should be a more straightfroward but difficult.

First, hi to everyone..this is my first Post in these Forums so dont flame me...
I will hold myself short. I just got a very simple, fair and even logic solution:
Make it neither Mystic nor open
Make it just time based. And I don't mean IG timebased. I am talking about RL Time.
Let's just everyone get Force Sensitive after paying for the Account for about 6 month or even longer. Soit would beimpossible to grind to Jedi, everyone will just play as he wants to and walkthroughs to Jedi are impossible cause well...everyone will get his FS Slot sometime. Fair to hardcore Player, fair to Player that already got children and not much time, even fair to those unlucky ppl that cant afford a flatrate.
Many of you will now say,: "Crap! What did that man smoke?" but you know? I'm playing MMORPG now since 4 Years and it's everywhere the same.Camping for loot. Anarchy Online by example got the same huge problem with Tier 1-Tier 3 Armor. You need to collect special thingies for that, that drop at specific monsters, npc whatever for a maybe 5%(or even much less)chance.
So, what does everyone do? Spawncamping like hell. Well, it was even profession based, but what do you think will happen then? Everyone will just make a walkthrough to every profession.
With my Solution , it would be VERY easy to code, it will sort ppl out that just play swg for a couple of month and will even limit the number of ppl becoming a Jedi, because the most ppl just play a couple of months and then changes to another server..
Only bad thing is, that there would be soon exist Companies, selling half year old FS Slot Accounts...
Sorry that i cant really take part of your whole discussion, but hey
You know how many pages i would have to read? Dont really got the time for that...
As far as I read, are many ppl saying the same in much posts either...

sorry, cant find an edit function so i have to correct myself this way

hiding it will only frustrate the majority of the player base, while the rest will just wait till its all posted on a fan site in a week and get their info there.

Fine...and where is the fun in this system?
No thanks! I want to do something in a game and the High-End content should be a reward, not only an occassion...
We could make the Olimpics this way too...if you were swimming 5 years in a club, you get a gold by the olimpics.... cool!

I would respectfully disagree. This would be seen as a profit stunt done by SOEto squeeze even more money out of the playerbase.
"Hey pay us 6 months worth of game time and we'll GIVE YOU a Jedi. No effort required!"

I see more jedi now than i see half the professions in the game, this isn't jedi knight! If you leave it open more and more people will become jedi (Unless perma-death is placed back in, which isn't going to happen)it should be a changing and unknown path.

I would like for the path to be mysterious, but I don't believethe judgment of the devs can be trusted with that. After all, their definition of mysterious was, "grind random professions over and over until you magically unlock." How are we to know that a new "mysterious" path won't entail, "Kill x mob in the middle of planet y, but we're never going to tell you what x and y are. Happy exploring!"? After all, look how creative they were with the Knight trials. Those quests were supposed to be somewhat epic, but they've essentially been reduced to, "Fly to this planet and kill this monster. Come back when you're done and you can become a Knight."
I've been tailoring now for over a year and have tried to be the best and most dedicatedclothier that I can be. What sort of reward or FS credit do I receive for that? Nothing. Obviously I've been playing the game the wrong way.Instead the people who've been forced to grind profession after profession will be reaping the rewards. The "mysterious" hologrinding system has turned many dedicated crafters and combatants into disgruntled and frustrated players.
Since the devs obviously discourage people from being dedicated to something, I vote for the FS path to be a known path, and a very well known one at that. If we're going to be forced to jump through hoops, I'd like to know which hoops to jump through and how many more remain.

known: After a year of mystery, misdirection and miscommunication I no longer feel like walking around in the dark, clueless. I quit hologrinding in favor of a story driven game mechanic not some super secret "well you can be come FS, but you don't know how, hahhahah sucker." No thank you. Uh-huh.
Give me Force Sensitivity, or I'll give you cancellation.

No. It's too late for mystery.
You reward everyone for doing it the old easy way, and everyone who waited gets the shaft.

poll = 50/50 at this moment in time.
Puts it in favour of known so farthen, due to the fact that nearly all jedi will vote for hidden path.
How far would uoffset the voteto compensatefor the jedi voting?
hhmmmm!! clouded the future is again.
I really hope that one day my character's future will actually be in my own hands so I can plan ahead, since around feb 04 I havn't a clue where I actually want my character to end up.
hmmm, the next two publishes will either remake or break the game completely, the ball is most certainly in your court SOE. Don't **** it up, pls
