It actually sounds cool and exciting. Story driven game play is great as is the journal to keep it all in.

One thing if it is possible, get mp3 or wave files of voice actors for these story drive quests. Having an audio component to the game is huge. I would make it a top priority, even if you need to hire temp help for the sound dept if you have one. Due to the lack of noise in the game, it isn't clear if anyone works on sound for this game other than the can sound from skywalkersound libraries. While that library may be the best in the world, the game is still very silent. This is a great oppertunity to make a bang, so to speak and has been a standard in games since the old creative sound baster first hit the sence a decade ago.

A few questions,

It was stated that we were to be given credit of some form for completing professions in the old system. I asked this question in the dev chat yesterday but got a very confusing answer that needs clearification. What credit do werecieve for completing professionsunder the old system? I.E. one FS power per profession up to 24 or something else? Should we continue to do professions to get a leg up on these new quests or will it be a waste of time?

Is the Village in instant dungon or will it be an actual place on one of the existing planets? If it is an actual place, can all the afk spamers trying to sell their stuff be ban from the game? Trying to do a story driven quest in a field of afk people spaming way points to buy this or that is not good.

Perhaps this has been answered somewhere, but when the FS training is complete, do we still get a second slot? I seem to remember something in the Jedi archives that mentioned it.

yeah, I remember reading it as well... unless they changed they're minds (which is frequent) we should get a second slot...

Is the Village an actual spatial location? Or is it more of a metaphysical thing that mannifests itself once you're "on the path"?

If the former, why not expand its capabilities and permit Jedi to spend time there leveling up (hopefully through other non-combat ways at some point) instead of what's going on right now? The bulk of the objections I see to Jedi these days involves them being so prevalent in camping various locations and being seen all over the place. Why not give the more PvE-oriented Jedi a place to be and grant the wishes of the objectors at the same time?

This also permits people to RP the idea of nurturing a Padawan or pre-FS individual. The current Jedi could be involved in some sort of non-critical method (just make it optional) or FS progression.

I do think these are great ideas, though. =o]

3. Fix the poor BH's to be effective against Jedi, maybe some lightsaber resistant armor easily attainable by the master profession, only wearable by them.

This is by far one of the biggest gripes I have about Jedi as it stands. BH's are supposed to be the bane of their existence, but as it is, only a handful of us Masters can come close to taking one down...and many of them are only able to do so because they've leveled up in some fencing to actually HIT them (all of BH's attacks are fairly easily blocked/deflected by Jedi lightsabers, it seems).

About the only waymost of us (it seems) are able to take a Jedi down is to have a group of Master Fencers and a Doc/Rifleman backing us up. :/ I REALLY hope that this is addressed soon...and not something that has to wait several months for the Balance that was supposed to have happened already.

As far as the idea of Aurillia goes...I love it. I like the idea of being INVITED to come by a mysterious stranger who shows up once you've met some requirements rather than seeing a hoarde of people camping the grounds hoping for a chance. Like many others, I too hope that this will be an "instanced" area. It would at least give the illusion that it's a rarity even if it doesn't feel much like it on the "outside". I think that this is the right way to go with it, and hope that this is going to make it into publish 10.

HOWEVER, the only thing I would ask is that you (the devs) make sure that by "playing the game", you don't just mean combat. This would exclude a LARGE portion of the player base. I know several people who have held crafter positions for a year now, and have enjoyed "playing the game" in that fashion very much. They've done pretty much all of the non-combat quests they could find, they've been to all the POI's, and they've attended to the needs of the combat classes with alacrity and skill. I feel that these types of players deserve their shot every bit as much as the combat classes do.

Thanks for listening.

How come you guys focus on adding ridiculous crap like this instead of fixing what's already in the game?

These are both excellent ideas.

Now let's hope the implementation lives up to the promise.

“I don’t know. You can’t see the stars here.” Paemos complained.

“You can’t see the stars anywhere on this planet, can you? I mean with the trees and the clouds…”

Noldan stopped speaking and turned his head towards the elder, Rohak. Rohak knelt down to the ground and lifted a handful of dirt to his face. He breathed in deeply, relishing the smell.

“It’s good here. Green. Life.”

The others nodded their heads in agreement. The three men stood and looked at each other for only a moment before Rohak spoke again.

“This is where we shall begin.

The Village of Aurilia. The dream becomes reality…”

The hidden village of Aurilia (Ah-ree-lee-ah) was formed on a planet in the outer rim, near the Meridian Sector by a small group of like-minded Force sensitive refugees who had, for one reason or another, abandoned their old lives. They all possessed strange knacks for piloting, healing, combat or some other special ability in tune with the Force making them dangerous to the Emperor, and the rumors of a Sith Lord who held a high power amongst the Imperials.

Many of them were hunted by vicious agents of the Empire and also had dealings with the Jedi council. Some were brought forward to the Council in the old days by Jedi warriors after discovering their natural abilities while others sought out the Jedi, hoping to be trained or at least given some explanation for these strange gifts that made other people look upon them with fear or trepidation.

All of them were turned away from official Jedi training for various reasons: political ramifications, age, some did not display the qualities of a Jedi knight, and other personal reasons. This village has stood undisturbed for many, many years with the people there, living a rustic and agricultural life. They bother no one, trade with no one, and cause no trouble for the Empire, the Rebellion, or any of the various criminal organizations that exist throughout the galaxy. In this, they have hidden themselves in plain sight. They don’t do anything to actively discourage anyone from finding them, which in itself keeps them off the radar of most governments.

Though they have no formal training many of them have become quite confident in their abilities, and they have no qualms about teaching what they’ve learned to anyone who is willing to listen.

This is where you will begin your journey.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Creating a way for players to experience a mysterious but not impossibly hidden path from being “normal” to Force Sensitivity is a difficult task. Ultimately, it must be a story driven path that doesn’t go counter to the Star Wars experience, while also bending continuity in the game so that the MMO game experience can deliver a play experience that is satisfying and fun for those that do want to seek out Force Sensitivity.

Without revealing the exact path to Force sensitivity, let it be said that it is not hidden in the way that the Holocron/Professions system was hidden. The path to Force Sensitivity has underlying mechanics, but essentially it is to just play the game. It is definitely achievable, but mysterious and unknown. We don’t want people to grind anymore, so ticking off master professions will cease to be part of the equation. We may or may not reveal more as time goes on. It depends on how the flow of players through the system goes. (If too many players are pushed through the system, we may have to make additional changes based on technological needs, but if we do that, we will let you know in advance). It may not be long before you are visited by a mysterious stranger.Once players are on the right path they will be welcomed to the village with open arms, and will be given the training they need to understand how their Force Sensitivity works.

This place is the Village of Aurilia. It is a place where a group of Force Sensitive characters have gone to have some privacy and solitude in their lives. With the Empire slaying all the Jedi it can find, Bounty Hunters tracking them for profits and shunned by galactic citizens, these sentient beings needed a refuge. This village is that refuge. The player experience is one where they too can be a character that has these abilities and is seeking both help to understand their abilities and become part of this story. The village has heroic NPC’s, rogues and enemies. There are different stories a player may pursue and different Force Sensitivities that they can develop to make their character somewhat unique.

As players use their characters to play through the Force Sensitive training, their powers will grow and they will choose their Force Sensitivities using the existing skill system by completing quests and then purchasing them with experience and skill points. An exciting new feature about this part of the process will be a new “Quest Journal”. Players will have a new user interface that will help them track the progress of their questing and also give them fictional descriptions and important information in the quest journal.

When players finish their Force Sensitivity training, they may choose to either remain simply an FS character or go on to Padawan training.

•Do you like the idea of the Village of Aurilia?
•Do you like the idea of adding a quest journal?

Love the ideas, I decided I would wait for the quests before I gave Jedi a shot because I simply love quests in games, if they are done right. I'd like to say that what must be done is...
-If your thinking let makes this instanced place on Kashyyyk, that would be bad what with the Wookiees of the planet disliking Outsiders and all the Transdoshans milling about, plus its a nightmare to live in the Shadowlands what with the massive predators, the Kinrath spiders, the Katarns (No, not Kyle), and general omminousness of the place make it a poor location for a mass of species to congregate and hide.
-Mission types, JTL is promising expanding them, mabye the team here should try and out do them with word and other puzzles, conversation quests, themes, and - some other thingeys....
-Unexpected occurences on quests, lets say your sent out to collect X from Y but then when you come back along the way someone shows up saying he is to aid you and that he will take X to the original person, and that you need to go speak with Y. It could turn out hes lying, or hes speaking the truth and you would need to figure that out from clues in the conversation with him.
-If you can't do the above two then atleast make it logically harder than the current themeparks inwhich I'll give the example of having to escourt someone back, you can hop on your bike and just hope the person made it back, also making a certain mercenary surrender without having to beat his guards or talk him into it, you should need to cause him to surrender in fear or by persausion.
-Eggs, you need to use eggs as they are a good source of protein and will give your hair the lustrous sheen you demand from it
-Rye bread, Winnipeg Rye Bread is some of the best bread out there and it will make your job much easier to obtain some

I like the idea of a journal. I'd of course also like one we can write in ourself if it isn't too much trouble.

The village, unless instanced, will end up a hang out for BHs and gawkers. Unless you have some game mechanic in place that automatically kicks out anyone who is not a villager or invited to the village that I am unaware of.

Not sure if this is fully on topic or not, but it IS related. Has any thought been given to a way or quest or something to unlock a second slot that does NOT involve being force sensitive? Some of us would love the chance to seperate our combat and crafter characters without having to follow the intense and secret and, in some of our opinions, non-canon Jedi route?

this place is going to be so camped

bad idea

should have made it so it has something to do with a midi-chlorian build up and having to do some quests in order to find an npc to test your blood for midi-chlorians while making you do some quests for him- if you die you have to start all over because the midi-chlorians need time to build up in the blood stream-

once you get enough midi-chlorians then you could go to some special npc to start getting force sensitive training and doing fun quests

nothing like "Kill 10 Ancient Krayt Dragons and 20 Night Sister Elders"

I like the idea of a village and journal, but the Village defintely should be instanced, will be a much better feel to the environment that way.
