First off... In my opinion, this game (and others) get over-analyzed. Just enjoy the game.

As for me, I just want to be a Jedi. So as far I can see, I have no problem with the upcoming publish.

I can't wait for this revamp and for Publish 10 so that I can quest my jedi character. Now that is Star Wars!

I agree!

Now we just need them to change the main character policy for those of us that have been grinding in the system to unlock 2nd character slot forJedi which is basedon the published path to get to Jedi since release.

The way I understand it is the credit gained from mastering professions will simply "unlock" the ability to do that set number offorce sensitive quests....you will still have to do the quests themselves.Sounds like that after each mission you needto search out to unlock the ability to do the next quest, so in myopinion if this is accurate, I dont think that this is decent compensation for our time in masteringa profession. Sorry to say this, but it sounds pretty weak right now.

Okay my main question is this, How do we go about getting these quests ? i mean are there just gonna be npcs that walk up to us and are like hi, u must do this to become a jedi, lol, or what the quests "require" or anything ? I mean im completely lost on that subject.

Think about it, when the holos came out then everyone started grinding away, which didnt really matter, because some people had to go though 25 professions to find their hidden one anyways. BUT NOW, we each have different quests we must go on. sooo how do we go about getting these quests, much less how do we even find out how or what or where to go/do to get the quests, much less do them, then find another one to do.

O and im STILL lost on how the dang jedi thing works now, with the 6 full rows or whatever, what are they talking about and where can i look at a dang tree to see for myself, and get a little bit more understanding of whats going on.

So, okay, ANY INFO on the quests, how about u get the jedi slot now, really anything about pub 9/10 is MUCHLY APPREACIATED, not getting anything from anyone else

THNX AGAIN

Personally I think the idea of making some quests require groups is a good thing. Bring the MP back in the MMPORPG. If I only had a cred for every person that's come onto the game talking about a "lack of content" and all but says they do nothing but solo. Of course there are some quests that you definately should do on your own, as it is a personal quest. Hologrinding has just about destroyed the economy now and only goes to show that some people, no matter what, will become jedi. For those of you wanting to know how it's going to work, you won't. Period. That's the point isn't it? To make it a big secret like it was at launch with everyone groping around trying to figure it out?

You can't choose them by simple selection by Devs/CSRs. All you need is some bozo to sue becuase "I wasn't chosen because of my sex/ethnicity/religon/sexual preference/insert reason here" and/or "That other person knew the devs" and then none of us are playing. The last thing you want is people who don't play the game (lawyers, judges, activist groups) deciding how it is to be played.

True the system they propose isn't very cannon to the universe as is evident already. Quite simply, some of the canon elements just really wouldn't be any fun for a whole lot of people (enforced slavery, taking orders that must be followed to the letter as a rebel/imp trooper) Some parts of the universe just wouldn't make a good fun game, so they're changing it. I'm sure I don't need to point out all the wonderful things (note sarcasm) Ep I and II have done for the universe, especially in terms of the force.

The point is I'm all for stretching things a bit to make it fun, even if I don't want that FS slot or if it's too hard for me to have the time to get.

Kidd brings up an interesting point. Instead of grinding professions, everybody's just going to start grinding quests. Not much difference really, especially if the quests are supposed to be difficult and time consuming.

I guess it opens up the possibility for grouping again, i.e. getting guild assistance in completing your quests. But overall, I do wonder if we're just moving from one form of grinding to another. I'm still hopping to unlock before then. I have what, 12 days to go?

I'm sorry, I'v done nothin but praise the upcoming force sensitive quests but making some of them group oriented is the worst idea that has come about and for several reasons. One being that why should anyone else care if your going to be force sensitive or not? Two why should I feel forced into grouping with people, becoming force sensitive isnt something people are gonna want help with, their gonna want to know that they made this journey all by themselves.

I'm sorry but I'v loved all ideas up until this one.

This type of business ethic continues at SOE because of their CEO, John Smedley. Little does the public know, that Star Wars Galaxies was scrapped in 2002 and redeveloped in 14 months from the ground up. In a meeting, they asked how they could get away with releasing such an unfinished product. John Smedley stated that people will buy it because it has a Star Wars name on it - and then laughed as they said they would complete the retail product (which consumers have already paid $49.99 for) with approximately 2 years of subscription revenue

I'm with Danny on this one.

What group quests did Luke have to do to unlock his jedi powers? None that I can think of. He had a couple of people train him. So maybe some sort of relationship with existing jedi can be required. I think the present jedi would get a kick out of having padawans or trainees among those seeking to be force-sensitive. Maybe "padawan" is the wrong name since it now means a specific level of jedi to some.

Gating entry to jedi through having a guild seems a bad idea to me though it would admittedly reduce the number of new entering jedi. Well...not by much since most folks are in a guild of one sort or another.

The current jedi did not have a group-gating requirement. They had a hologrinding requirement. To change the requirement to quests is wonderful. But to change it to group quests won't be. I remember this aspect of EQ with a distinct lack of fondness. I participate all the time in the Multiplayer aspect of SWG. Maybe not through group hunting (some but not much as my character gets semi-decent). But in lots of other ways. I just don't like the notion that a guild will feel that you "owe" your jedi status to the guild. And that is the way things get when items or statuses become group rewards...long group projects given to one player. It makes it so that it seems wrong to leave the PA that has "done so much for you" and that you "owe your jedi status to" etc., when in reality a PA should be more of a social thing that you hang out with a group of people not because you owe them for what your char can do but because you enjoy their company.

Any light jedi who doesn't have social skills and doesn't enjoy the Multiplayer part of an MMORPG is probably doomed to not have force ranking except briefly if he/she is the first one toa given level.

Who thinks it would be a good idea to default all light jedi into a "Light Side" guild so that folks can meet each other in guild chat and have some idea whom they are voting for? I think that's a capital idea. And probably a good way to get the right kind of people in the force rankings.
