Thread: On Mandalorian Armor

If the Mandalorians are basically wiped out and it takes a crafter to make their armor, can you really call it "Mandalorian armor"? Seems to me that Mandalorian armor has to have been made by a Mandalorian.
No matter how closely I replicate the method ancient Egyptians used to make pottery, nobody's going to stick my stuff in a museum.
As for who can wear it, how about just limiting it to people who have been a master of an elite combat class for at least 3 months? Possibly even longer than that, to drop the numbers. There are currently zero rewards for sticking with a profession after you master it, and a considerable reward for grinding your way through a bunch without knowing the slightest bit about them. Give the non-hologrinders some reward for actually bothering to play their class.
This is an interesting point. It's sort of the same thing (in reverse) as when you go to a U.S. resort and see a sign for "Cuban Cigars", and when you reach the crafting / retail location for it there is a guy there hand rolling tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic, but the guy doing it is from Cuba so they say these are CubanCigars. Umm, no they are not!
If a guy form Kentucky is sitting in a Mexican Cantina and were to roll tobacco grown in Cuba, it would not be a Cuban Cigar either!
If it's a schematic, it would need to be tradable.
IT SHOULD NOT BE TRADE-ABLE!
It it's a schematic, armorsmiths would be setting up a suit to display in thier house.
MBH ONLY!
Nobody wants to see Jedi or Pikeman or Fencers or Smugglers wearing it.
If you haven't grinded the investigation tree... Piss Off!
NO STATIC DUNGEONS OR DROPS
Don't make it a loot fest!.
If you're going to use a dungeon, make it so at Master Bounty Hunter you can get a quest mission from the rodian bounty hunter trainer that takes you to the dungeon. Make it an instance so it has to be done solo and a one time deal. Each piece of armor should be a reward for doing a diffrent part of the dungeon, if you fail a part you miss out on getting the piece. This way suits can range from a piece or two to full suits reflecting how well someone did.
No do-overs, No schematics, Not tradable, not wearable to non-MBH's or wookiee MBH's (sorry).
Better yet, just dont even implement it at all.
You know what? Just keep it out of the game.
The bounty hunters are just going to continue to cry and moan if anyone gets something they don't, and god forbid Mandalorian armor is made available to everyone.
Guess what? It's not a bounty hunter only armor. It's armor from a race of mercenaries that a couple of bounty hunters happened to wear. Deal with it.
End Quote:
Since when did crafters all of a sudden become mercenaries? Hence, why not EVERYONE should be able to wear the armor
This armor should definately be certified to Master Bounty Hunters only.
I do not agree with certifying all forms of armor.
The fact that this may be a schematic drop doesn't sit well with me as an Armorsmith.
What I would like to see is a final quest that would incorporate looted items and crafted items. These would be turned in to an NPC by the MBH who in turn would receive a finished or 'working' piece of Mandalorian Armor. The stats as well as protection(s) could be determined by the crafted item(s) statistics. Just a thought.
OK here is an idea. Make it like the ships. Only a certin group at a time. The rest wait outside for there turn*maybe have a sign up sheet* If there was a sheet, you can only sign up 1 time per day, and you cna only enter the 'mine' a certin number of times. Making it only a certin group at a time would help a lot. Any one in the person who signed up(group that is) go in, but they can not sign up again. This would also be a nice place for entertainers/doctors to give buffs, or just sit and talk
Once the group is inside, they have a certin amount of time on there hands. But, even though they are in a group, only ONE will get the armor. So it is a like a messed up gladiator type thing. You fight by each other, killing everything and anything. You can help the team, or leave them to die. This will bring out the cut throat sides of people, i bet. In the end, you must face the ultimate boss. Depending on the people in there, its strength differs(maybe). Or a big group of guys comes in, led by a mandalor, and if you survive(somehow it has to be really really hard to survive, having either a lotta easy to kill but still pack a punch guys, or a couple uber strong guys).
Then the victor goes into the next room, where, you guessed it, lies the armor. You get to choose the color, and maybe even put an insignia or something on it. Then all the people load outside, all alive(if you die you dont clone, you get to wait) and the next group gets ready to enter.
This mando armor is special and cant be traded. IF you get it, you can not get another set. This might cut down on all the people getting it and stuff.
Like it or no?
PS: I am a wookiee, so it sorta sucks for me
. Maybe if Wookiees get it, they can trade it or something
Why not have certifications for armor like you have for the weapons?
Many games have thisas an accepted methodology concerning armor. Aside for a fewweeks of complaining, it would make much more sense and people would deal with it. Sometimes, as DEVs, you guys have to suck it up when you make mistakes like letting EVERYONE get their grubby little hands on the best armor around.
Armorsmiths would be able to sell all varieties of armor, so you would have some that specialize in composite and others that specialize in padded, etc, etc. Hell, you may even see newbies running around in some good ol' bone armor with kimo scale enhancements. Gee, there may be a reason to have some of these things in the game instead of wasting data base space. The economy may even improve as more and more options come available to Armorsmiths on what it is they wish to specialize in.
It really needs to be done in order to give people reasons to do what it is they do. Pride. Imagine a BH or Commando strutingtheir stuff inshiny new Mandolorian Armor. Just an example, I am not saying that they should be the ones to get it, but it really would make more sense for them than other professions, off of the top of my head.
You are making Wookiee specific armor so don't say this is not possible.
A personnot only has to be strong to wear the armor, they should have to be trained in it's proper use.
