Now call me crazy but where is everyone getting this "MBH should be the only one to wear this armor" stuff. Because they saw Mr Bob wearing it in a movie or 2? The Mandalorians were warriors and mercs not MBH or MC hell some of em were prolly even Pikeman ( a strecth i know hehe). Limiting it to a single class or 2 would be pointless, granted MBH and MC are starved for defense but that is an issue in the works for fixing already ( "some"day ). I'm just about to hit master pistoleer and I'd wanna go do the quests so i could walk around in some Mandy armor myself. I have semi-"full" faith in the devs to see the "non" connection with Bobby Fett wearing some armor and then in game limiting it to certain classes.

I think Carbineers should be able to use it or have it designed for us as we have the title "Mercenary"

so if you are merc then the only class you would be is a BH? I dont think so. If you are merc then you would be possibly any skillset for combat. BH are bounty hunters and not mercs they are hired to kill one target.

Mandelorians on the other hand were general elite fighters.

Just because the "story line" has only the fetts in the armor and they happen to be BH's does not mean that others in the trillions of people in the galaxy where also not similarlly equipped.

my feelings on mandalorian armor:

1. It should not be craftable, but possibly have modification options (like sockets in the bracers to fit add-ons that certain classes can craft)

2. Individual pieces should only drop one at a time, and very rarely (like exceptional loot)

3. Pieces should drop in a variety of colors, quality, and possibly modification options

4. Wearable only by masters of a combat profession, possibly 2 professions.

5. Shouldbe ideal for jedi hunting (this stuff was supposed to be resistant to lightsabers)

6. Wearers of this armor gain a visiblity line (like jedi) and become open to bounty hunter missions (this would make it so that only really tough players would be wearing it)

My feelings on armor in general:

1. There should be different armors that are ideally suited to differentprofessions or hybrids

2. Should have reasonable certifications

3. is too powerful already

4. should be colorable like composite

You're right, more people would go for MBH if it was exclusively offered to them, however the road to get there wouldn't be easy and many will probably give up if they're just trying to earn a certification to wear it.Even if someone does get MBH, do you really thinkthey would holdon to the profession just to keep wearing it?

The only reason Iwould like to see itMBH required is because I don't want to see 100's ofpeople wearing it... and that will happen evenif theytry to make it rare or hard to get (Example: Jedi)

I think that this should be a pretty readily available armor, but that only MBH's can wear it. First of all I think they deserve something for spending 217 skill points to become a MBH. In addition, if they're going to be hunting Jedi down, they'll need something to protect from all those nasty Jedi specials don't they?

Anyway, I think this is a fair compromise because most BH's don't become masters because there's no real benefit to it since you can go up smuggler and get some good specials off of that and be better at PvP than a MBH. Even if this isn't really awesome armor, it'll be nice for those RPers to have something to show off for being an MBH.

i say leave it open to all to wear... armor is armor - not like someone can't wear it because the craft aprons.

if the cave is instanced and you can do it only once to completion for a schematic that can be used 1 time (no factory please) then the armor will remain rare (especially if the loot components are like ris (which is good) (it is possible to get ris - i have a complete set)

as you can only ever get one set and them only make it as a rare item due to the loot components.

RIS is not impossible - but it is hard.

Mandolarian Armor should be similar

This has probably already been asked but how are you going to balance this with the other armor out there?

Simply put, Mandalorian equipment (whether weapons or armor) is supposed to be the BEST of the BEST of the BEST... hence the obvious reluctance you had to put it in the game in a way just anyone could easily get. In this case, between a very rare quest/looted schematic/rare resources to be used you can probably manage that. The stats of the armor, however, are the REAL question.

Composite can already get up to ridiculously high, in the area of 90% resistance in some cases. Not on everything of course, but not stun or such, but for kinetic damage, how are you going to compare it? To properly match what should be, you'd almost have to make Mandalorian armor capable of upwards of 100% kinetic resistance. Not something you want to do I'm sure.

In my megre little opinion, the conditions for Mandolorian Armor being implemented should be thus....

- Only a set amount of sets per server (say 20? or 40?) This would make them rare and a status symbol to the lucky few who get them. Making some famous names on some servers.

- It is a dungeon which is a random spawn , timewise and placewise.

- It is enterable by anyone, but only actually completable by a tough person who would warrant wearing the armor

- The Armor should degrade, but only over a period of 2 months or 3 months say (even if they stash it in their bank to try and preserve it for show). When the armor is degraded it will be destroyed from the owners inventory and a new dungeon will open up randomly for spawning and looting by another lucky warrior

That all seems the fairest way to me.

Just hope the actual armor is WORTH the trouble though. I expect 90-100 resists on all fronts with *minimal* ham cost! This is uber uber super uber mando armor here

You know what? Just keep it out of the game.

The bounty hunters are just going to continue to cry and moan if anyone gets something they don't, and god forbid Mandalorian armor is made available to everyone.

Guess what? It's not a bounty hunter only armor. It's armor from a race of mercenaries that a couple of bounty hunters happened to wear. Deal with it.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

At the risk of repeating.... let me summarize the best ideas so far, in my opinion. (and maybe add one or two)

(1) Mandalorians were soldiers, and preferred heavy weapons. So, certify Mandalorian armor at Master Commando. Also, there's the obvious reason to let Bounty Hunters wear it, so give the cert to MBH as well. Nobody else, unless SOE comes out with a third offensive/combat hybrid, should have the cert to wear Mandalorian. Maybe they can put it on to show off in, but double HAM/half protection seems fair.

(2) Mandalorian should have some built in buffs, to bring up the somewhat lagging defenses on these two classes... The Mandalorians themselves, being concerned with heavy weaponry, would have ignored their defense, and maybe relied on their armor for such things.

(3) Crafters should have a role, for sure. Looting should have a role, for sure. There's supposed to only be a couple of suits in the timeline at this point. We can wrap up all three of these, by adapting the Jedi lightsaber rules.... The stuff you loot is old and beat up Mandalorian, leftover relics from the Death Watch hideout. The schematics you can get are to "repair" the armor -- no "new" Mandalorian can be made. The components are such things as metal and syncloth, and maybe some heavy leathers and clasps, etc. And, most importantly, the original, beat-up armor piece that you're "repairing".

(4) Mandalorian should be resistant to lightsabers and force powers. Certainly (ask Master Windu) not perfect defense, but good resistance. If we ever (appropriately) get a separate damage type for lightsaber, then Mandalorian should be about the only stuff in the galaxy with a resistance to it. Otherwise, coding in some special resistances to sabers and force stuff would be appropriate to an object such as this.

(5) Perhaps only a Master BH or Commando would be able to even begin the quests for Mandalorian. It's pretty rare stuff, and while distinctive, probably only a few people know what it was or what to ask for or look for. Getting Mandalorian armor would make a wonderful career capstone for the BH or Commando player. (and I hope start a trend, like RIS, of having career capstone quests for all of the profs... ) Hopefully, our BH/Commando protagonist would be forced to call upon the skills of others in order to complete their quests. (again, hopefully starting a trend for adding to the social/interactive/interdependent nature of things)

I called 'em. This is how I sees them.

There are some great ideas in here! I have to digress that Mandalorian should be class restricted. In the older days, Jedi Knights and Sith Warriors wore HEAVY armor, resistant to lighsabers and likely added in similar buffs. However, perhaps a unique 'Jedi Knight/Sith' armor could be added in later. I agree I'd much rather see BH recognized in their Mandalorian armor, with Dark Jedis in a seperate armor, and maybe Jedi in a different armor to that. It helps make the classes unique and 'cool'.

Still not sure I agree they should be even vaguely easy to make. As long as it's fairly powerful (possibly better stun armor then current composite, and then similiar stats to composite- with some state defences, I really like those ideas about skill bonuses in armor!) then players will work hard to get it and have fun doing so.

How to avoid camping the rare resources though? High level, random mobs that appear 'anywhere' should be included. Possibly instanced quests as well - I love that idea since it avoids camping in a big way, and generates real fun for a group. Kill stealing ALWAYS annoys me in any MMORPG. The RIS concept is really quite good, in my opinion. It's just a shame the armor itself cannot match up to composite. Well, I suppose in the combat revamp if HAM encumbrance of armor becomes a big deal, then RIS will be great again...

I would really like to see unique armors have lightsaber resistance, and get rid of the armors so easy to make 90% resistant to lightsabers too. This would instill the 'fear' that Jedi should have at a Mandolorian equipped BH coming after them.

Don't you think with the resources that folks like Jabba or Vaderhave, they would place some Mandalorian armor on display in their personal museums if they desired it enough, or even get is modified to fit them? What would have stopped them from doing it? They had the personnel and capital resources to do it if they wished. It certainly was not limited to them because they were not Bounty Hunters by profession.

Jabba in Mandalorian armor, that would be impressive, how would the pants work though...

You know, I was really serious when I wrote this to illustrate how capital resources in any real economy dictate beyond any real limitations. After clicking the submit button, I realized how absolutely hilarious this would be to see Jabba in Mandalorian armor. In fact, it would be a great April Fool's trick if the devs did this for April 1 visitors to Jabba's palace. They would get the screen shot of the century! Maybe even have Boba wearing his underpants whilechained to a rancor for some corporal punishment for letting Han get away so many times.
