Thread: ID3 Vehicle Garage Placement

One Question - Why Bother?
if you want to encourage growth in the economy make do not give player city grages, allow for vehicles to perish and either droids to repair them (Heck finally a use for a repair droid or droid witha repair module and include the credit cost and or materials needed to repair them) or just let them burn up encouraging continual purchase and renewel of vehicles and the stimulation of the economy. Otherwise like anythging else it is a stale comodity that will sell initially but fetter off once everyone has one.
That gave me an idea.
Maybe vehicle overall condition should function similar to pet vitality.
If it dies, its overall condition drops a bit.
Just like real cars.
If you don't change the oil and neglect other periodic repairs, it will wear out faster.
Even if you maintain it properly, it will still wear out in time.
Dantooine
Endor
Lok
Dathomir
Yavin
not every city should have a garage either. Any city on a major planet with a starport should have one. Lok, Dath, Dant, Endor, and Yavin should be excluded from this. Why? None of them are real cities, and i am sure a pirate like Nym is not interested in tourism... Also, the rebel base on Rori and the Imp base on Dantooine also should not have one, but the Imp base on Talus should.
The Imperial Outpost on Talus would be great.
One thing that really needs to be brought to your attention is how you can integrate droids into this factor which is something I refer to as droid functionality.
Here is a scenario:
- The player needs to have their vehicle repaired.
- They pull up to the garage.
- When they arrive in front of a garage a 3PO unit is present & placed at a strategic point near the ramp on the garage port.
- The player will park the vehicle next to the 3PO unit and engage ina scripted scenario requesting repair.
- The 3PO unit will then state how much the amount will cost.
- The player accepts and out comes a repair droid that repairs the vehicle with a tool that would show a welding beam that the player can see. In addition a power droid will charge the vehicle at the same time.
- This would create more of a star wars feel and immersion for the player.
I kept it simple so that input could be added by the community
The idea is to create an actualdroidinteraction. Itwould apply droids and promote droids to serve a function inthe game that is part of the daily life of a SWG gamer.
This could also be applied to Droids that stand in front of transportation. They could vocally announce the arrival time of the shuttle.
This could be applied to transportation. A player walks into the shuttle and sits down. A droid walks to the player and requests a ticket. Once the ticket is activated then the download screen activates. The door to the shuttle will close when it is time to leave thus-no more players can get on and the shuttle is cleared from all players that are in it. It then takes off.
Sorry I had to put in my 50 cents worth!
every settlement with a shuttle- AND/OR a starport should have a garage.
there are whole planets without garages! (for example endor where the research and smuggler outposts need some sort of mean of fixing vehicles)
---and i CAN'T understand why bestine doesnt have a garage since the beginning... i mean, mos xyz has a garage, sure there are always 3 or so people there... but the 300 bestine people?---

It would be very helpful on Endor, Lok, Dantooine, and Dathomir to have them. Especially on Dantooine and Lok, these are planets that have player cities on them. I know people on Dantooine that rarely leave the planet, and usually when they do, it's only to get their bike repaired or train in something.
Exactly I never leave the planet except to get mine repaired. But then again most of the time I say screw it and bring out my mount. Remember those, mounts are cool.
You can find a garage...I think it's /find vehicle garage. Took me a few times to figure it out duhh.
Here are my thoughts:
1) Garage in every city near shuttleport or starport
2) Can we do something about making them more Star Warsian? Currently they are two ports that if you get to close to don't work. No other items around. It would be great if it looked like a garage.
3) Also, how about adding NPC to the mix so we have something to interact with.
4) I wouldn't mind a player owned garage. Some place you could go and have upgrades or work performed. The repair prices can vary depending on what the player can do (fix ...but not completely, fix and upgrade, or fix and paint, etc). I'm hoping in the future vehicles can be upgraded...modified.
Just put them on the maps,it doesn't matter where they are.
The reason people are having trouble finding them is because they're not listed.
WHEREVER THERE
IS A STARPORT!
I mean, REALLY! They can service a STARSHIP inBestinebut not my speederbike? Sheesh...
This is as bad as when I had to hunt with a stone axe and bone armor! Is this Star Wars or what?
I think the Adventure planets should not have garages because they are too wild and untamed to have such permanent structure.
Any planet that you can build a house or city on should have access to a vehicle garage.
As a design idea for the garages on the outerworlds you could use a small shack style house like the ones they already have on the planets, or small 1 speeder garages. It would be awesome to see a couple droids standing outfront of them and a grubby shady looking mechanic. Put an R2 unit and a repair droid in front. I think it would be cool to have the r2 unit fixing some piece of junk, or an engine laying on the ground, like that one r2 unit they have in the star port fixing the terminal. It would add a little bit to the star wars feeling seeing a run down droid slaving away at fixing an engine and a grungy mechanic standing watch. It would also give people the idea that it is a repair depot.
