Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
I think that raising the max credit cap on the bazzar is a good idea, 3k credits has become pocket change to most people due to the fact the the SWG economy has had a huge inflation spike due to the fact that there is no limit to how much money can exist in the game. Because inflationhas continued to climb, the bazzar has suffered a loss of quality items. I used to be able to buy decent weapons and armor off of the bazzar, but now it is full of looted CDEF trash. I hardly ever use it anymore. So raising the max price is a good idea. I can see how merchants would not like this, so I think that the fee for posting a item should be a percentage of the fee collected. I saw someone had mentioned that removing the "auction" selection because people post at 3k credits which means no-one can bid on the item. Many people use the "auction" selection as a way to advertise for their vendor. I think a new section should be added to the bazzar, that only merchants can use that allow them to post advertisments for their vendors, that way merchants wouldnt be forced to stand in the street shouting to only a couple people "come visit my shop" (If we can travel the speed of light and shoot lasers cant we have a in game yellow pages?) ![]()
The main Issues I see with capping the vendor limit is that many people cannot check their vendors everyday, so they rely on their large stock to hold out until they can re-stock. I think a vendor cap is ok, but 150 is WAY too low.
Change #2 ---- UMM NO way! Everyone's already pointed out the obviously reasons, I'm gettin more and more against it each day

I feel that the bazaar price should be raised, but maybe to 10k that way more useful goods could be found on there vs just your everyday junk...I usually have to spend several hours searching for goods priced newhere from 5k-8k and it would b much easier if I could just go to a bazaar terminal for this.
As far as capping Items on the vendors I think that it should maybe start at 150, but as one progresses through merchant they should be able to increase the number of items, at maybe a 50 or 100 item rate. This way smiths and other artisans are more liable to seek out a master merchant who they can sell their goods to instead of just selling them on their own; in effect boosting the merchant profession to be self sufficient, I know I need to do odd jobs every now and then when business slows down to pay for maintance, so this would b nice for invigorating the profession.

Raising the credit cap on the bazaar is a great idea.
Placing a limit on the number of items a vendor may have in stock is also a great idea. It will give Merchant Vendor tree much more value. While I agree with this idea,I feel 150 is too low.Perhaps 200or 300 (ie 2 or 3 pages) wouldbetter suit those merchants that stock multiple types of fast selling goods (ie weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, tailors).

There is a sort option. And you can resize all the fields. And there's a Next Item button to go to the next page too. No worries. Lots and lots of people don't know those things are there. I have to explain to people all the time about the next items button on my vendors. This game is rife with undocumented features.
Each page can be sorted by any field, and any field can be resized.
Unfortunately the sort options are broke for many things. Try to find any Wookkie clothes in the Wookkie items field - guess what, they don't show up there. Take a look at the Eyewear field. Gee, didn't SOE just throw a sh!tfit about people selling eyewear? There are many many examples of sort groups being hosed.
Next items - unfortunately it too is flakey - it shows the next page, although most of the time the next page is actually part of the previous page too. Its not 100 or so new unique items. (This is hosed on Bazaar btw, seems to be OK on personal vendors).
Yes, the fields can be resized (I don't need 40 characters for Bid when its only a 4 digit number, or 8 characters for that lame * for Premiums), but, after repositioning all the fields to where you like.... they're not remembered. Next time you log on you get to start repositioning them all over again.
First off, I'm sorry if I'm repeating everything other people have said, I don't have time to sift through 9+ pages of posts... hehe.
I'm all for raising the cap on the bazaar. It will hopefully encourage some of the more advanced craftspeople to put their better items up for sale, and this in turn will increase the amount of business they will get. However, I am opposed to the vendor item cap being at 150. I do support the concept though. A higher cap would be a better idea, in my opinion. Someone mentioned it before, and I agree with them, that it's hard enough to keep some things in stock. I sell resources and architect products (obligatory blatant plug = visit my vendors in Mountainside, Talus, Bria server before the vendor nerf hits!), and I don't sell the resources in crates of 50,000 because I get customers who only need 1 or 2 thousand of each resource, so I usually split up that 50,000 into about 20 different crates. Multiply that 20 by all the diffrent types of resources that there are in the game... and you get quite a lot. Putting a cap of 150 items on a vendor will severely damage the business of everyone, not just us resource vendors. Especially when college students like me have to take a break from SWG to study for tests and whatnot and don't have time to check back on our vendors every 20 minutes. A cap of 500 sounds acceptable, 700 sounds good, no cap sounds best! ![]()
WHEN WILL THESE CHANGES BE IMPLEMENTED?
I am holding off on character development until I know. Please give us some indication.
hehe, yeah let us know so we can max out the vendors before the patch
, i dont think they will tell us the day becuase everyone would hurry up and load up their "personal" vendor with stuff.

Idea one: Against, reasons:
- Lets more crafters skip business/merchant entirely...unkind to businessmen, unless they get a bonus to cap.
- Also: now junior craftpeople will have more competition from masters (I might start selling scout blasters and other "low" tier weapons again if i can drop em on bazaar and move 25-100a day from theed.
- Also, this will shift emphasis away from player cities and player content, which I thought was actually going well in terms of creating crafting communities (Brenn on my server especially), and in the long run wasn't this the wholethrust ofSWG galaxies?
- Finally, This will just automatically bump the lowest cost items on my vendors from 3k to 6k, as I am obligated to prevent people buying all my 3k metal staves and reselling them for 4500-6k on the new market, usually at auction, which keeps them out of circulation for up to 7 days. So, you'll double my profit and piss off my customers, but what choice do i have if I want to keep these items stocked on my vendors?
- Like someone said: When the auction bid limit is reached, the auction should end. This is a more important fix than the max cap.
Idea Two: Partly Against; A Max-Cap is fine but it has to be larger...Reasons:
- I ackowedge that some people use unlimited vendor storage as an exploit, I do not, but welcome some limit on this if it improves game stability and stops hoarders.
- 150for Business III,250 vendor cap forNovice and500 forMaster merchant seem like good incentives for the merchant class.. 3000 items on 6 vendors seems like a high enough maximum and encourages merchant management skill use.
- I'm a WS/merchant...I have 150 items on my vendor when i'm stocking only 5 diff weapons. I try to keep at least 10 different ones, usually have 150-400 total on each vendor, sliced, unlsliced, melee, ranged, sundries and powerups.
- I already need too many lots for harvesting, power and vendors, you'll just force me to find more housing if you do this for the crates of wepons i will still be running off 20-at-a-time, why should i add houses 3,4 and 5?
- I'm an intergalactic trader of everything from the rare to the most mundane of weapons and accessories, and I have less capacity for gun storage in my entire 3-floor store than a kid from NYC does in his mom's pantry closet. What is that ?!?
- I already spend too much time doing inventory control and vendor restocking, you want to add to that??? Why do this to me? NO FUN.
- You MUST increase House inventory size, or again, make acrafter skill bonus for additional storage, (How about a warehouse schematic that holds 150/lot and takes up 3 lots?) the large vendor stocks of "storage" items are a direct response to the limiting of house sizeadded to therapid shift of resources (For instance I have 5 different duranium steels, due to the speed in which they came and went, this is one of about 40 resources i collect, in multiple stacks, I have 300 in house storage, 100 in bank and 50 on me inresourcesalone, and I still run out of space, this is absurd)
What weapons I stock regularly, highlighted by class.
- Fwg's
- Rep blasters
- Scatter pistols
- T-21's
- Laser Rifles
- Laser Carbines
- DH-carbines
- Flamethrowers
- LLC's
- 1-H Curved swords
- Vibroblades
- Gaffi Bats
- 2-H curved swords
- Powerhammers
- Metal Staves
- Long Vibro Axes
- Vibroknucklers.
That's it, those are the bare minimums you need to keep stocked, at least rotationally, on your vendors... this says nothing about other runs like dx's, ee3's, e11's, cleavers, tanglers, Jawa ion's, Vibro lances, etc etc etc...
Thanks and I hope I've helped you see my concerns

Oh yeah, I know. Those features do not work right, or do notwork well. The point I was making to the previous poster was that they are there at all, which he did not seem to know. I did mention that the resizing resets to default if you exited the screen. And yes, the sorting and next items is fubar. But even so, it is far better to select something other than All and then sort from there, despite the next page not being exactly, only the next page. I cannot imagine anyone having to trawl through thousands of items without some breakdown and sorting. If they are after their first week in the game ... oh my god.
And I am well aware of the Wookiee clothing being scattered all over amongst the clothing subcategories, and none at all in Wookiee Wear. All the wraps are under miscellaneous. And so are backpacks. I feel for Wookiees who have to sift through hundreds of things they cannot wear to find one thing they can. It's why I have separate vendors set up just for Wookiees only. Makes their life easier and mine too.
Eyewear, Earrings, Capes; are all schematics that are to be added later. /whisper Things got a bit rushed out the door there and they had that bazaar part done, but not the art for those things. /shrug It's a teaser. We see it, want it, can't have it. Like that song. You want it all, but you can't have it. LOL.
Anyway, I get tells all the time about someone not being able to find something on my vendor when I know perfectly well I put say, 6 of them on there. After minimal questioning, it is always the same thing. That person did not know to click "next items." Did not even know it was there. I have a vendor with over 700 items on it and lots and lots of people buy things I know are not on the first page. So...
Make the next items button really big and really blinky and really red.
And if they ever fixt the sorting and categories... I will kiss someone's feet.
But I still do not like the vendor limit. Obviously. It's a Tailor-Merchant killer.
