Im sorry but i gotta say this is the whole idea of the Imperial Crackdown is crap


With all of the lag produced by the storm troopers i get 2 frames...with a high end computer. I also get reports from friends with the same exact problem, even when i turn every extra feature off i cannot move 2 steps before locking the game up. The games engine or rendering needs fixing or something....I hope this is fixed soon or i wont be visiting any of the citys with imperial storm troopers, its no fun when you cant even control your character due to being link dead

crack down very very great idea I love it all the hard work that went in to it is FAB!


lets think this through


swell the population in the cities what looks to me ten fold with npc's


not milling about but mostly standing about...


yeah can you say cut the crap I do not personally pay to play so that you can create a situation that freezesSWG, on my machine


better planning next time is a must, you can not cram that many bits on your servers and have good game play as it is now your servers struggle on a regular bases to support the population during high traffic times.


I just would like to add broadband connection


I build this machine around the specs for your game and being a geek I exceeded what was recommended (not always a good thing I know)


please get rid of some the npc's there is no need to have that amount of npc to accomplish what you want



other then that like I said very well done consider latancy


I can not imagine what a slower case and internet connection is going through right now if they logged out in a city that is now under imperial crackdown they prolly can not even load the game

Me and my clan are very excited about the crack down. We finaly feel like rebels. However, like everyone else, we feel there are problems.


The most outstanding problem is the lag created in the imperial controlled cities. It also seems to bleed over server boundries as just about eveyone I talked to tonight had problems on thier speeders. We amassed a small group to attempt to re-take Kor Vella, about 8 of us. We did quite well taking out 70 ST's and only loosing one of our own. The bad thing was, we didnt make a dent in the population..... they seemed to spawn in as fast as we could take them out. Perhaps you could make it so that the cities are reinforced once a week.


For example:


Stage One (Ocupation): 50 trooper patroll the city and at the end of the week the ST's killed are replaced. This allows cities to be termporarily held. If all 50 are taken out then the stage is heightened by one.


Stage Two (Lock Down): 75 troopers and 5 AT-ST, reinforced once a week as needed. If wiped out next stage.


Stage Three (Blockade): 100 troopers and 10 AT-ST's, reinforced once a week as needed. Next stage


Stage Four (Scortched Earth): 200 troopers 20 AT-ST's and turret bunkers placed in city limits. (Doubtfull there would be a next stage after that)


If the city remains under imperial controll with say no more than 50% reinforcements needed during a two week period then the city falls to the previous stage. This would allow the crackdown to be dynamic and limit the time of great lag.


Course the obvious solution to the lag problem is to add more serverside resources (come on SOE... spend some of the $$$ we pay and stop pocketing it all).


If the lag issue goes away then the other issues will make more sense.... but at this time they are all moot since the game is unplayable by most.


To give an example..... I had a conversation on guild chat this after noon for a good 40 min after /logout. I was getting the 30 sec... 25sec.....20sec... at intervals about every 5-8min.


I cant stress enough how excited we are about this addition,dispite the fustration of the lag. We have confidence that it will be promptly addressed and fixed........ Please dont let us down.

I love the fact that i can't leave my city because you decided to throw 80 Stormtroopers into a city along with too many npcs. The lag is horrendus and with a top end machine this should not be a problem. You guys put this on test center and still it comes to us live with major issues. You guys need to get your act together or soon there will be noone left to play this game. Don't get me wrong i like the game and everything it stands for but too many mistakes will start to annoy me and i will have to turn my attention to playing internet poker. Because at least there is no lag there.............................

Honestly, I haven't read the whole post, but here are my feelings.

Having contraband scans in only three cities is very unrealistic. I was expecting every city, except for specific Rebel cities like Anchorhead, to have a STRONG Imperial presence of stormtrooper platoons scanning for Rebels and contraband. I haven't experienced any scans or shakedowns on Dantooine on Chilastra (though I spend most of my time in a player city). I've read the stories of stormies raiding cantinas and instantly getting killed. Cantina raids should strike fear into all Rebels in the room and send them scrambling into the basement, not happy about getting free FP. In summery, the Crackdown should be improved by:

* Increasing patrols in all cities (but keep large groups from forming in one place to avoid lag)
* Making raiding stormies MUCH stronger and/or more plentiful
* Increase wilderness probes

I would much appreciate a response from a red-name to acknowledge that this an others' complaints were seen.

As for the PvP issue, there's a simple solution:


Turn neutral!


...or don't carry anything on you that's going to turn you PvP when scanned!


The only thing that is "forcing" you into PvP is your declaring your faction in a WAR. Nobody said you had to declare a faction in the first place.


If they had some sort of system that would declare my imp character PvP and it went along with the storyline, I'd be happy with it. There already IS forced PvP in the game afterall: TEFs. I'm sorry that those TEFs are out in a field when another is in a city where it ACTUALLY matters.


God, some whining I just don't understand.


(Though, some tweaking needs to be done. The stormtroopers and AT-STs, or at least AT-STs, need to be strengthened and the bugs of spawning needs to be fixed)

I've already read this same report in the thread and let me add myself to the list.


Enter Kor Vella, see a platoon of troopers...crash to desktop...impossible to get back into the game.


Do you guys even HAVE a testing environment other than test center? I just figured you had an internal development testing environment as well. And if so, exactly WHAT type of computers are you testing on I've got a 2.5 GHz, 512 MB of RAM....is that not enough to play this game?


Nice crackdown....on the upisde. I did actually SEE troopers, which is an improvement....now if only I could get back in the game.

On Corbantis, I spent some time near Theed yesterday. At the Theed starport there were a few people advertising their shops out of tow with sliced weapons, drugs and armor while nearby an Imp NPC officer talked to another NPC. Looking around Theed, I found nothing out of the ordinary, no Troopers, Probe Droids etc. No change for poor little neutral me.


A friend, playing Reb, admitted he had never collected so many FP in such a short time. He's changing from Tailor to Bounty Hunter, and he confessed that camping near Bestine he can skill up faster than ever before.

How about an onscreen message that pops up to let us know when a scan has gone into effect? When a stormtrooper comes in and says "checking it out" 7 times (or something similar) we all wonder who he's talking about.


If I were to get an onscreen message saying "The Imperial stormtrooper focuses his scanning equipment on you..." I'd sit back and hold my breath, waiting to see if I got caught.


Might add some suspense to the game






Sit back and hold your breath? I'd run for the hills! Of course, it'd be very neat if the message said, "You are being scanned. Failure to comply with this scan will result in an assumption of guilt. Stay where you are."

Please help explain why a class that cannot go covert by talking to recruiters is now going overt with the crackdown when being scanned, the Jedi!

To be honest i like the theme, but its not fair that non-combatants can't really do anything to affect the outcome, we are being bombarded by thousands of imperials and I would like to make a difference but i am unable to fight back at all is there any help you can give me?

I seriously doubt this will be read but from little I saw everything BUT the actual crackdown is nice and it's not cause the crackdown itself is bad but that there wasn't more of the same in more cities.


I can understand not having this in coronet and Mos Easiley(?) but really there should be a crackdown in every static city that currently exists if people don't like it they can goto a player city; there is choices.


I can also understand one place on a planet that doesn't have the crackdown so those that don't wish to be involved don't have to be *to a lesser extent let's not remove the feleing of at least an imperial presence*


I can understand many things but the fact that the crackdown is SOOOoo easily avoided. Not once while hunting did I even SEE a probe bot in the distance to even avoid.


So I suppose that leaves only the questions.


1. Will more static cities get hit by this now you know we want more not less or ok with said amount?


2. Will we see ATATs and ATSTs in Theed so the Player Imps have a SAFE base to operate in instead of overt rebels doing whatever? *especially there? Make the stormtroopers a little less potent then Night sisters I mean come on that's Theed.....which leads too*


3. Can you stop the stormtroopers from dropping so much faction points? The Imp players have a right to be upset that currently the situation is that the stormmies are just getting blasted for faction points. *tho why I have no clue nothing I seen worth getting not even a rebel banner =P*


4. When will we see vehicles not require a camp to pull out and put away? *you put that delay like in the droids top avoid abuse* Let's get that put in be nice and also for our droids and pets.

Ihave one complant, LAG! OMG why is there 972 imp outside the cloning center of kor villa? Can we plz get rid of the NPC's till you can get this fixed. Im 3k out of kor villa and rubberbanding for the last 10 min. The words "Game Breaking" come to mind. If i still havent moved when im done with this post im knocking off to play a game that works. Sooo much fun stuff to do, but i cant get there. Dev's HELP!
