I think this is a good idea, but as people mentioned, should probably be tweaked a bit to make the quest more feasible to casual gamers.

Here's another idea to add to the ones I posted already...
- Make the components quest items. You complete quests given by the Junk Dealer to get the pieces for your kit. So... once you get a kit from a Junk Dealer he says something like "Now that you've got your kit, how about getting the pieces? I've got some missions for you if you're interested...", and from there you do his quests to get each piece. One mission could be perhaps a deliver, another destroy, recon, ect. Not only would this add a bit of story-based content, but it would also make it just a little easier to get the pieces. Just don't make the quests too easy... but not impossibly hard.
Ten missions/quests of moderate difficulty-- one quest for each piece. Or maybe twenty quests of easy-moderate difficulty-- one piece for every two mission/quests.

I found the drop rate so insanely low that I am totally disgusted with this whole idea and wouldn't want to truely tell you how I feel about them as I wouldsurely be banned.
Personally I think the person who came up with this should be fired and I don't even want to fathom the actually odds of getting a complete set would be taking into account dupes.
This quest to me is only margonally more appealing then grinding every proffession in this game to open a jedi slot, but with less reward.
Has any dev even tried this is the only question that comes to my mind as if they did they would see how insane someone would have to be to even try this.
Masocists maybe could get into this or perhaps people who have no life whatsoever as doing this quest equates to maybe trying to make the worlds largest tin foil ball or largest glob of ear wax.
There, you have my feedback, writing this feedback was immensly more enjoyable then wasting my time doing this insanelytedious quest for a stupid graphic that serves no more purpose then someone to look at and say hmmm cool, what's it do?

I find the drop rate OK. Otherwhise they wouldn't be rare items anymore and loose in value pretty soon. This is not something you should be able to complete in one day. Leavethe kitin your bank box - forget about it - and from time to time you'll loot a part.
If you don't want the finished item don't sell it back to the junk dealer... sell it to a player who wants the piece or even auction it. I'm sure you'll get at least 100K or more...

Nobody said that they meant to be rare. I dont like that the afk-macroers getting more these days, after the loot-kits went live.

This is great, I've been sucking up crystal drops from my guild for ages and I feel bad about it, now there is an equaly rare and desirable thing that I can give back to the guild. I've no idea if its related but with Jedi luck Ive got 2 drops in about 200 mobs which seems to be a much higher drop rate than others are reporting, could just be statistical clustering.
More rare loot is something that has been called for from day one, people wanted uber weapons and armour but that does not fit into the economy, this implementation ensures that such furniture will not replace Architectural furniture as it will be way too rare, no point in a glass table without chairs to go arround it and a few candles.
Well done - I'm not collecting them but I aprove of the addition to the game and I look forward to seeing what my friends do with the finished products.

I collected a blue rug kit..and im very dissapointed in its implementation.
As a master elite (swordsman) i feel very bad about camping the thugs and other low level mobs to try and get some items..none found yet..but of depriving a not as high level player the challenge(to them ) of killing these mobs in a relatively safe enviroment.
from a noobie or a levelers point of view ..i can see why they would get a little miffed when they see me one hitting everything and they are trying to get xp.
The drop rate is horrendous...but that is nothing new..the geo labs is an almighty mess..3 good geo spawns for the whole server who wants geo cubes , adhesives etc.
back on track..increase the drop rate please.

It is a great ID
Now i am looting like hell and hope to find some parts for my gong and after that the sculpture
One thing i like to know, how long will it be before we get new loot kits ?
I hope we can get a new one every month or so.

If I loot one more CDEF weapon or one more dagger...I'm gonna put another check mark on the "reasons to stop playing" SWG.
FORGET the horrendous, excuse me, non-existant drops for these loot kits, forget them....
Loot drops have been HORRIBLE for a year now.
I'm not talkin about the L337 caves like Ft Tusken, Nightsister or GEO, they are fine...
But all of the minor quests...
If you clear a cave of a minor quest and search 4 or 5 mag seals, you will get CDEF crap, a wood staff, a dagger and maybe 100 credits... that's just NOT an incentive for noobs.
Look it over DEV's...study it...BUT FINE TUNE THE LOOT DROPS, you see I wrote fine tune, not CRANK IT UP.
Because as we all know SOE has a habit of overkill when people complain...then people will whine that there is too much loot.
*edit*
I cant believe the hours people are putting in to get this stuff?
When I originally saw the description of junk dealers loot kits...I thought the loot would come from those stupid engraved pens quests from NPC's...I thought you were gonna overhaul those quests.
It needs to be balcanced, period, I am reading people saying the drop rate is fine, (yeha, after 20 hours of AFK meatlumping they have 5 peices of the rug...WOW) I am not gonna AFK loot kill. I am a hardcore but casual player and I shoot thugs as I pass them by...
I PROMISE you I have killed about 1500 NPC's this week and have not received ONE loot kit item, that's just not right. (FWIW out of that 1500 I got NOTHING worth keeping, not even any of those mind poison cdef's)
I'm telling you the devs tweak the loot drops frequently..one night in Ft Tusken I got 2 crystals, plus experimentation clothing (3 peices) a wicked mind poison Tusken rifle and a few other good things..ALL IN TWO HOURS...maybe150 Tuskens...
THE NEXT DAY...NOTHING!

LOL crystals are easier to get than loot kit parts.....you need to change drop rates on the loot parts. I made 2 million credits running missions got 4 crystals and 1 orange thread...thats 6 to 7 hours of doing missions.
