And a bunch of gong parts/statue pieces... The drop rate is definitely looooooow, but not so much that in a week or so we won't start seeing completed kits... (of course, this is assuming all the parts DO drop, and we don't have another jetpack issue here)...
Yeah we will see completed kits... completed by some afk macroers... Thats just great.

Well I've gotten about 30 peices now. Killed around 8000-9000 NPC's.
Best I've done is 6/10 on one of the Rugs.

Hello,
it may not be heard, but here are my 2 cents:
I like the Idea of lootkits very much. There are so many drops which instantly got deleted cause they cant even compete to an item made by a novice crafter. Now, due to the nerf in changing weapons, even the DOT-Weapons are quite useless.
My Experience so far:
We were not sure "how random" theese things drop, of if there is a better chance to get some from higher mobs. So we, a friend and I, started on Dantooine and made some Missions. Got some Crystals noone needs. After that, we visited the POIs on Dantooine.....Well, we met some Jedis stealing our kills (and worth mentioning, met the first friendly Jedi in the game so far, and he was IMP!) and got some more crystals..... great....more house-decorations. Then we thought "hey, someone said Nighstsisters drop them"... ok, so we went to Dathomir. Well, we found a nice spot with Nightsisters (are Sentinels the one with 50k HAM?) and pulled one..... and watched several Jedis and Swordsman passing by, killing the whole bunch with ease (or get killed cause they thought "oh, a single NS, I will kill it before those two gusy do.....oh....erm.....now there are others spawning....oh, now there are 5....where did that elder come from? WHERE IS MY BIKE?).....in other words, it was a bit frustrating sometimes when you try to do something and every few minutes someone jumps off a bike and kills your spot, or pulls them to you and shouts "heal me!".....
However, spended 4 to 6 hours with Nightsisters, looted 10 Crystals and some other stuff nobody needs, but nothing I would say was worth the waste of time.
Then we tried some low level mob. Well, the drop-rate was low, but you can kill a lot of them, and yes, thats how it works. The more small ones you kill, the more stuff for the lootkits you get. My friend spent 10 hours killing NPCs yesterday, all one-shot kills, and looted 2 or 3 parts. I looted one part today, after spending about 6 hours there.
Important to mention that this is griefplayers heaven, cause since days there was an afk-player doing nothing else than killing and looting afk. I am faster than he is, so I have a chance. But the players this is made for will have no chance to compete against those afk-griefers.
So, I like the idea and I these are the things I would change:
1. The chance they drop should be increased, but only on specific NPCs, so advanced players can go for them without having to grief those who arent fighter-classes ot still advancing
2. Implement something that generates a high-risk for afk-campers, so they cant grief others by blocking spots which are made for starters. This could be achieved by spawning Rangers or Policemen who ask the player something, if he does not respond with the right phrase within time he got warped to the next clone-center.
3. Give players more Areas where they can hunt for loot, or give them something like the corvette, so they can make quests or camp somewhere and dont grief others.
4. Spread good drops and dont make them all-random. Its not funny if everyone in the game is killing the same mob at the same spots. If you want Crafting CAs, you should need to hunt NPC-Type a, cause you have a better chance there. If you want Melee-CAs, you need to kill Melee-NPCs and so on. That way people would not go for the single type of mob in the game they can easily kill and which got a good chance to loot, and not all the players would choose the same type of skills to hunt that single mob, which is a real problem in the game today.
5. Boss-Spawns need to be more random, so that campers, who log in just in time to kill that specific mob, Acklay, for example, dont have a chance to grief casual players that way.
Well, needles to mention that Corvette, DWB and other places are way too heavy to be funny for someone who is not a 24h player.
That way it would be fun to hunt for specific drops, and much more fun to complete the lootkits.
Read ya.

Yes, I admit, I'm being cynical here but....
Fantastic idea - I love it... great way to introduce new content without just giving the schematic to an architect - crafting for the non-crafters!
However:
Has anyone actually COMPLETED a loot kit so far?
I've got 9/10 of the orange rug kit - missing the adhesive...
I've looted items from all the different variants of the loot kits - but i've not seen any orange or blue rug adhesive at all...
I'd just like confirmation really that I'm not wasting time and effort killing NPCs to no avail?
I WANT MY RUG!!!

P.S. I don't really think the drop rates need to be increased or other avenues for parts be formed or anything of that nature that the poster before me suggested. I might even be ok with rates on a few parts DEcreased. I think a *lot* of the frustration is temporary and just like people complaining about the hero quest being camped people need to be a little more patient with this one. Give it a week or two for the parts to get looted and go into circulation on the bazaars, trade forums, trade cities, loot vendors, etc. and then you'll have your ways to suppliment your personal loot rate.
I owe you an appology first. Didn't mean to use your work as "proof" of anything, just stating how long it took to complete the item. The developers know how long TC is down so they can judge for themselves if the kits are supposed to take this long.
As for the "Other Avenues" these are few and far between the rarity of these items means that until they flood the market they will not sell for less than 6k which means they will not be sold on the bizzar. So now you've got to travel around to various vendors & try to find them. So the only people who can make these items are the ones that can fork out 10k or more per part, or the ones that can kill the insanely ammount of NPC's that you've stated before.
As a "Mini-Game" this seems to fail on multiple points it's increasing the AFK looting type of game play, and the camping type of game play. I've seen masters of their professions running through the drall caves solo looking for parts shouldn't this cave be for the newbies to group & attempt? The demand for these items is pretty high (as is just about any new decor in the game) and because of this it's lead to alot of hording of items with the thought "I'll do this one next" rather than selling or trading the items. These kit items are the new "holocrons", and until everyone who desires the itemcan make it, things will remain this way The solution is simply to increase the drop rate just little more. I'd equate it to the crystal drop rate, crystals are still pretty rare drops yet if you keep at it you can aquire a number of them.
My current loot ratio this weekend is something like this:
250 Disks (Treasure maps, reb transmission, imperial plans, rebel orders)
75Locked Containers
50various junk items (clothing CDEF's)
12 crystals ( 5 purple, 4 yellow/gold, 3 green )
15 Tuskian clothing items.
1 Glass Table Kit base 4
1 Blue rug thread part 5
6 Janta Blood
1 Ak'uankan Robe
3 Rings
1 Jawa Ion Blaster
5 Gaffi Battons
250,000 Creds.
I have checked the trade forums for my server 0 items forsale there. Checked the bizzar multiple times this weekend I saw a blue rug thread once, it was on the bizzar for 30 min before someone sent a /tell to the owner and offered more than 6k for it.
As you said before, Live is drastically different than TC. There are alot more players and a much higher demand for these items, if the rich can simply buy the parts and throw the items togeather before those who are out there working daily to aquire the items there will be alot of resentment going on. And the fact of the matter is that it doesn't need to be this way.

Iobtained a blue rugkit from the junk dealer behind the cantina in Theed. No problem there.
I spent 3 days killing everyNPC in sight and didn't finda singlecomponent for any of the kits. I don'texpect to complete my kit inone day but I'd like to find a component, even a component for a kit I don't have, after killing hundreds of NPCs.
While I like the idea that more decorative items are being added to the game I'd like to see the kits be a mixture of loot drop components and components that are craftable by players. If I were an architect I'd be more than a little upset right now that the new furniture items in the game are completely divorced from my profession.
I'm a master tailor who keeps three well stocked shops (on three different planets of course)and I alsotake custom orders. I do rundestroy missions but I will almost always choose animals over NPC's because of the hiderequired to craft clothing. During the normal course of my dailygame play I will not get a loot drop unlesssomeone gives one to me or I buy one. Based on the scarcity of components I doubt that the components or finished items will be in a reasonable price range. The amount of time required to gather all of the components to complete my blue rug would be detrimental to my business so I will not be completing this task.
As for the 1,000 junk dealerbuy amount, keep it or remove it completely. These items should be sold to players not junk dealers.

Oh, BTW, what made me so cynical about this quest?
The first day I spend a couple hours and actually got a few pieces and I thought, ok, time consuming but perhaps do-able. The next day I spent twice as long killing the same mobs and got no parts at all....
This is so insanely random that those people saying keep the rates the way they are will surely get bit on the butt soon enough to change their tunes.
Now if you want to waste my time trying to get the parts for something, make it something worthwhile like a turbo charger for my speeder or something like that, not a stupid rug when I already have wall to wall carpeting in my Naboo house.
I do like the statue I had seen the graphic for, but its really not anything better then the player crafted ones as far as "art" is concerned.

Are you guys serious? 8 pages of complaining about the drop rate? What is so special about something if u complete in one hour of killing stuff? Quit whining it is luck of the draw I have gotten over 20 different components so far so they are out there. DEVS DO NOT INCREASE THE DROP RATE AND RUIN THIS BECAUSE PEOPLE THAT WANT EVERYTHING HANDED TO THEM COMPLAINED!!!!! btw I have 5 out of the 10 orange rug parts

Wow, I didn't realize some people were so content starved that they are willing to spend countless hours for a piece of furnature. Hey, whatever trips your trigger. You do realize in the time you can collect all the pieces you could probably master architect and make your own furnature right?
Well I can only speak for myself that I will notbe doing this quest anymore as its a lil too over the top for me.... I don't consider immersion in the starwars galaxy as hours on end of mindless one shot kills of loons, thugs, and prowlers for a chance to get a part or two or perhaps sell the parts for 100-200k a piece for people whohave more credits then they know what to do withand have to have every lil thing regardless if anyone will ever see it but them. Oh yes, 100-200ka single part, check the trade boards, thats how rare these pieces are now. The 1k buyback from the junk dealer is just a joke, the parts alone are worth more now then anything most crafters can even sell.
I would have prefered if the devs had given the crafters in this game some new items rather then create a loot grind for reallytrivial items. I can't help but think someone is out there thinking its the pinnacle of their gaming experience when they finally get all the pieces to create some silly looking thing just because it was near impossible to collect all the pieces and shows utmost dedication to their cause.
I hope while you are doing these diversions you Devs are putting in double time on the JTL so we can get some real Star Wars content because this is just sad. I decided a long time ago that I'm not going to spend months worth of credits on a vehicle (AV-21), and I certainly am not going to do the same for a piece of furnature. That is some other game, that isn't SWG. I don't remember Luke or Obe Wan searching the galaxy for vehicles, rugs and furnature for their houses. I certainly don't remember them killing Imps for rug parts.

10k a part? No, go check the Kett trade board, 100-200k a part. Thats 1-2 mill cost for acomplete item and a resale of about 3-4 mil. As insane as these prices may seem, its in sinc with the rarety of the items. And to think some people got a rug just by voting for Sean... Funny how a rug is worth more then a vehicle or large house. When you really think about it, its pretty silly. Its kind of a slap in the face to any crafter who spent their time learningtheir skill. Now that hologrinding is over, what is the incentive to even be a crafter... It seems this game is going loot based as the most valuable items in it are now loot.
