Thread: AT-ST changes on Test Center

By making the armor lighter, the AT-ST will be even more useless in PvP than it is now. Imps won't bring them out now because commandos take them out solo. That's the balance that should be addressed! You shouldn't be allowed to be incapped over and over by the rebels while they kill your AT because you can't give it orders or store it.
Uhhh... They have almost 60k HAM w/ Medium armor (instead of heavy) and 100% heat resists... NOBODY will be soloing the new ATST anytime soon.
Just because you're AT gets set on fire now, doesn't mean it's going to die... it will take some good damage, but will NOT go down just from that one flame dot.
I don't understand it.
In every Star Wars movie I've seen, faction pets were prevalent in a larger number than rock beetles and Grauls.
What is the incentive of getting rank? A higher rank character should, in my logic, be able to have more protection. A high rank faction character has put a lot of time into moving up in the the chain of command to get their title. Don't make everyone become Pet Store Colonels to get the full benefit of our perks!
I agree with the chnages for the most part except for:
1) Needs to have the ability to command more normal troopers as faction rank increases, it seems the community is pretty agreed on this one, and it makes sense.
2) Flame DOT working on AT-ST's is still ridiculous. Flamethrowers have always ben anti-personnel weapons, it is what they were created for, and even with the "advanced technology" in a Star Wars universe, I find it hard to believe that their entire purpose would have changed. Even with technology improving, it improves on all fronts. When the weapon was invented, flamers didn't do much damage against the first tanks. Modern flamethrowers are pretty useless against a modern tank. Following logic it would seem that futuristic flamethrowers do negligible damage to futuristic tanks (AT-ST).
And by the way, I'm a rebel.

Thanks for the informaton..I just want to cast my vote of disagreement on limiting the amount of pets a non ch can have out at one time. These are faction pets, we spent time and FP's on getting those pets to use as we see fit.
You can say "all you need to do is group" but that is hard to do even in large pa's. Different times, play styles, you name it. Most of the time is spen solo. Just last night I had 3 regular faction pets going over a hilll and taking out a Mauler camp..it was a pretty sight and exciting. You are limiting what we can choose as level of difficulty on missions and forcing us to group. Plus as far as pvp, it's nice to have company when traveling solo.
In short, my vote is to keep things the same as far as faction being used for pve and not limiting the number of pets at once. A few people are making this change happen and I can't disagree more. Now all we will see our MCH's camping a spawn instead of a ATST(which I don't care if you nerf) . Just becuase a MCH uses his skills to go up CH, as opposed to those of us that take the chance of being faction and earning our pets..same thing..
thanks for listening.

I do not have a prob with the PVE stoppage. I do Have a prob with some other thigs.
1) Why make it so if not CH you can only use 1. AT-ST is not a creature it is a machine with a crew. It should be rank that lets you have more than 1. Lets say once you make LT COL. You should have 2 and full COL 3.
2) No heal. That is stupid. Almost 10k in FP for humans and more for other races. It should have heal and vitality.
3) I can understand why you are stopping the PVE. It is unfair to others Kraytes for example. If it is going to be only PVP it need to be harder to kill. I have seen commandos take out an AT-ST in 2 shots. Why in hell would i spend 10k or more in FPfor a thing that will die in 2 shots.
4) Fire killing an AT-ST is just wrong. Do you not think that a machine that advanced would have had that type of damage reduced by designers. If a commando is going to kill a AT-ST he should have to use the weapons that r ment to take out heavy stuff. The ones with limited use.
I do for the most part stand behind this change except for what i have stated.

and having three pets out is a major perk for Creature Handlers. If everyone can do it, then its not a perk. The reasoning is that if you really want to have and control three pets, a player should make a commitment to the profession.
CHs earned the right and the perk of commanding multiple CREATURES...
As a Colonel, I earned the right and the privelege of commanding MEN (plural) not A man (singular)...
When the Devs figure out that soldiers and animals are 2 different entities and should be seperated, then they'll be onto something.
My idea from the GCW thread of the same name:
1) Assign "Faction Level" (FL) ranks to each type of soldier.
2) Add a FL modifier to each rank in the chain of command.
As a player increases in rank, their FL modifier increases and allows them to call more soldiers (up to 3) or soldiers of higher rank.
In the case of the AT ST, give it a high FL rank, making it only able to be called by Lt Cols or Cols. Perhaps allow Lt Cols to only call an AT ST, and increase the level at Colonel allow an AT ST and a lower level soldier...basically make the AT ST the equivilant of a Rancor for a CH...
That's all I have for now...
No ATST in pvp yipee!!!!!!! lol now the imps actually have to be skilled to play!!
hey TH, i hope you're still reading through this thread. i have a constructive idea here:
first let me preface this by saying that i am an imperial with 2 at-sts. i think your changes to only allow one out, and then only for pvp or faction is a fine idea. heck im not even bothered by the drop from heavy to medium armor cause you balanced it with more hitpoints.
what i AM bothered by is the fact that commando flamethrower DOTS still TOTALLY ignore armor and resistances! i fail to see the reason for this. if you have a reason i wish you'd enlighten us. why is it that the first flame cone 2 damage will get reduced, but then the resulting DOT will totally ignore armor? i've seen at-sts drop in 15 seconds FLAT to this sort of attack, i kid you not. all a commando has to do is get a good flame single 2 off and your at-st WILL in all likelihood die. just ONE!!!
one lick of flame and your at-st goes from pristine killing machine to, at best, ahalf blackened chicken, IF it even survives. if you took care of this DOT problem you would see people bringing at-st's out in pvp again. as it stands now, virtually no one does. i dont see that changing, even with your modifications.
